As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
Hi All! Have a few quick questions. We are thinking of doing the HDD in October. We will be staying offsite. How do we get there? Where do we park? Do you guys recommend this for my DH, DS (10 and 6)? Are we too late to get "good" seats? Thanks in advance.

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
2 ways to get there:
1 - if you will not be on property earlier that day, (driving straight to Fort Wilderness), follow the signs to go to the Magic Kingdom. When you reach the toll plaza, go to the far right-hand side toll booth. Tell the attendant that you are going to the HDD and they will direct you. You will not have to pay at the toll plaza. Once past the toll plaza, watch for the signs for Fort Wilderness. There is a parking lot at the entrance to FW for HDD guests. A bus will come by and you will get off the bus at the Settlement Depot stop. From there walk to the large building called Pioneer Hall.
2 - if you will be on property that day anyway (at the theme parks for example) you can take a boat from the Magic Kingdom over to FW, then just keep walking up from the boat dock to Pioneer Hall.
I have not been, but my parents, sister and brother-in-law went last summer and had a blast! (My father is pretty hard to please.) I have heard nothing but good reviews about this show.
The show is extremely popular, so call for tickets as soon as you make up your mind. The earlier shows are usually easier to get into.

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
Hi Paula!
We just went to Hoop Dee Doo last month . . . it was myself, DMIL and DFIL, DH and DD (who just turned 4). We all thought it was great . . . actually, this was DMIL and DFIL's 3rd time they have been - and they still thought it was great!!! We stayed at Shades of Green, but were at MGM that day. so we took a bus to Ft. Wilderness from there. You can park at Ft. Wilderness though . . . there is a lot for Hoop-Dee-Doo and day visitors, then I believe you just take a bus back to Pioneer Hall.
As far as the "good seats" . . . they base your seats on your party size. It depends on how they have the tables set up . . . I am sure, though, that when you call to order your tickets, you can request a table near the stage.
Our 4 year old really enjoyed herself!!! She laughed along with everyone else (even if she didn't get the jokes!) She really had fun playing the washboard at the end!!!
A tip . . . they serve salad, bread, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, corn with onions and peppers, baked beans and strawberry shortcake. If you have a picky eater, ask your server if you might be able to get something from Trail's End. Our DD refused to eat what was on offer, and our server ran down the TE menu for her . . . she chose pizza instead!

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
I have been to WDW 7 times and I have seen HDD 8 times (we went twice one trip). We are going to WDW again in November and...you guessed it, we are going to HDD again! We absolutely love it!! It is fun for both kids and adults alike, in fact my brother (age 28 when we were there) said that he would go back to WDW just to see HDD again! I can't wait to see it again and again and again!! The food is also really good but like Sarah said for picky eaters you can request something else and they will accomodate you. We made our PSs for November at 2 years out and the CM my father talked to said that the seats are given out first come first serve so the sooner you call the better. You can request the floor in front of the stage but there is no guarantee that youw will get it. We also sat upstairs in the balcony when DH & I went on our honeymoon and that was good too. I say definitely go you will all love it!!

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
My family loved the HDD! I don't know if this is legal or not, but maybe you could get a parking pass at the WL and take their boat over to Ft. Wilderness. It literally is a hop, skip and a jump from the WL.
There really isn't a bad seat in the house b/c the actors come upstairs and go all over the room. Have a great time!

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
You and your whole family will love Hoop Dee Doo! It's the type of show that appeals to folks of all ages from toddlers right on up to senior citizens. We've done this dinner show three times so far and plan to do it again on our next trip.
As others have stated, they assign the tables depending on the dates the reservations are made - the earlier you make your ressie, the better the chances you'll get a table close to the stage. However, it's not a huge room and the cast frequently comes right down into the audience while performing so there really aren't any horrible spots to be seated. The least populated sitting is usually the last one of the night but since that one doesn't start until 9:30 p.m., it might be a little late for your children.

Re: Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
We absolutely loved it! It was great, and making our reservations WAY in advance I think got us about the best seats in the house...2nd row in, right in the middle. Any closer we'd be looking at feet. The food is good and the show is a riot. Great night and definitely worth it! ~Katie
