As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Disney-fying Joey 8/29-9/8- Final Day - Finally complete!
<font color="purple"> Our Last Day 9/8- What the heck is he washing??? And we go home. [/b]
I got a wake up call for 8a.m. I wanted to finish packing and then take one last dip in Storm-a-long Bay. TTC would be picking us up at 11:45a.m (I think?!?) I had asked for a late check out the previous day and it was ok’d. I tried to wake Joey to convince him to go with me, but no dice. This child needs help!!
It was quite the struggle trying to fit everything in our suitcases. I should’ve just boxed the souvenirs up and sent them home.
I know I timed my visit down to the pool to allow an hour of relaxing, but I don’t remember the exact time I went down. I think about 9:45a.m. The morning was absolutely gorgeous, bright and not too humid. When I got there, I had my pick of lounge chairs. When I went to get a towel from the bin, the CM placing them there asked to see my resort I.D. Oops! I forgot that you need to show proof of residency to have access to SB. I’m sure I turned when I admitted I left my room key in the room. Afterall, Joey was there to let me back in (this will be significant later). I told him the room # and my name and the very nice CM took pity on me. Whew!
I waited about 5 minutes for the tube rental counter to open and rented a tube to float in the lazy river. This is heaven. I have to stay at the BC again some day and take advantage of this terrific pool area. I’m pretty sure I took one trip on the slide too. Time flies when you are having fun and so at 11a.m I headed back to the room to take a shower and pack my wet suit. I also needed to clean out the fridge.
I knocked on the door and waited for Joey to let me in. And I waited and waited and knocked again and waited and knocked harder and waited and called his cell and no answer and put my ear to the door and heard the shower going. Ok, he’ll be out in a few minutes, don’t freak. Five minutes later the shower is still going. Uhm, I have to take one too! I knocked so hard and so many times I thought one of my neighbors would come out sooner or later to complain. I was probably waiting 15 minutes before Joey finally heard me and opened the door. **Tip** always take your room key, even if someone is in the room!
So much for being in a nice relaxed state for the trip home. Now I had to rush and take the quickest shower ever and clean out the fridge before bell services arrived to take down our bags. In the end, the CM waited another few minutes for me to finish getting the bags closed and helped me too! He got a nice tip!
I also asked that he give a bag full of bottles of water to the proper persons in charge of hurricane relief.
TTC was waiting patiently for us and we were off to the airport. Because I had to reschedule my pick up date, Sid wasn’t able to pick me up (I got to see him again in Nov. though). Our driver was a nice Brazilian woman whose name I can’t remember.
We arrived on time, but there was a wait for curbside check-in. About 20 minutes later we were done. For some reason I had to do last minute shopping at not 1 but both Disney stores at the terminal. I guess the last few dollars I had in my pocket wanted to stay in Florida! Joey stayed with our carryons during this time.
Security was another 20 minutes and then we waited at the gate for about 15 more minutes before we started boarding. During the wait, Joey got a call from his cousins back in NY asking what time he’d be arriving and what he did on the trip.
He excitedly told his cousins about all of our escapades. What is this? Could it be? Did Joey actually have a good time at WDW, after not wanting to come on this trip at all?
YES!!!!!
He wasn’t actually Disney-fied, but he doesn’t cringe at the thought of Disney anymore! I’ll take it.
As a matter-of-fact, a few weeks later HE suggested another trip to the world as his graduation present from junior high. Originally, I had planned on sending him to the Dominican Republic for the summer, but he wanted to return to MY happy place.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to go this summer. We were invited to Colorado to visit with our new friends, thanks to Disney, The Havens! Dusty, Stormy, Troy and Heidi can’t wait to see you during spring break!
Then I’ll be counting down the last few weeks until I see my GIRLS in May!!!
This trip is definitely a testament that if your carefully planned itinerary goes by the wayside, you can still have a great time! I'm sorry that the hurricane caused my sister to miss the trip and for my much anticipated Illuminations Cruise to be canceled. Passporter meets didn't pan out(there's always May!) and my first parasailing experience will have to be rescheduled. But I wouldn't change anything. I shared so many magical experiences with my son and made some terrific friends!
Thank you to everyone who read my TR and for all of your terrific comments and patience! I’m sorry that it took me so long to finish it. I’ve been missing in action for a while, but you all are never far from my thoughts!
I went back to Disney in November, with my mom, to celebrate our birthdays. We had such a blast. I made sure to take meticulous notes on this trip, so that I could write a more detailed report (Sharon can attest to this!). I seem to have lost the notebook though!!! I’ve looked everywhere for it! In all of the usual places and some very unusual ones too! BOOHOO!
If anyone is interested I’d be happy to post the pictures though! Let me know.
Much love,
Poohsgirl

Angie your trip report was excellent thank you so much for writing it. It sounds like the trip was a success as Joey wants to go back to WDW, that boy sure loves burgers .
I would love to see the pics from the trip with you and your Mum, please post them.
It's not long to go until your May trip with the girls . I hope you will write another report for that visit too.
Karen
