As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Birthday Bash - Part 3, Day 4 - birthday and MK
Birthday Bash – Day 4, 3/12 (my last report was dated wrong, should have been 3/11), the birthday – MK and more MK
Weather was about 72 degrees and sunny
After dd went to sleep on Friday night, dh and I blew up balloons, hung streamers and put out the rest of the birthday decorations. We covered dd’s bed in balloons so when she woke up, she would be surrounded. I called to order a birthday call for the next morning. No birthday calls!!!! I had read several places that birthday calls were available. I got nowhere with 3 different CM’s. Oh well, not that big of a deal, but I was disappointed.
Dd woke up bright and early to a room full of balloons and pink and purple princess decorations. She opened her presents and asked about lunch with Pooh. It was so nice to be able to say “yes, today is the day!” We headed out to the Magic Kingdom, wearing matching Disney shirts and dd with her birthday button. Everywhere we went, CM’s said “happy birthday princess, how old are you today?” After about 5 people asked her, she finally got the hang of putting up 4 fingers and saying thank you.
We headed straight for Adventureland. We rode the Magic Carpets of Aladdin twice with no wait. We rode POC with no wait. This was dd’s first time and she liked it more than I thought she would. We then went to the Diamond Horseshoe and met Woody and Jesse. I was really surprised when she went for Woody first, as all she talked about was meeting Jesse! The Riverboat was just pulling up when we were passing, so we went aboard. It was a really pleasant ride and I got some great pics of BTMR and HM. We then decided to go to the Haunted Mansion. Dd is not thrilled with it, but it’s my favorite. She did fine, no problems. She likes it when the ghost hitchhikes with us.
We proceeded to Fantasyland and it was a 40 minute wait for Dumbo. I convinced her that we would ride it later and we walked onto the Carousel. We then went for another spin on the Teacups and had about ½ an hour before lunch so we decided to ride TTA. I love that ride, it’s just so relaxing and nostalgic.
We were early for our 1:00 PS at Crystal Palace, but we went over there anyway. We were seated a little early and our table was decorated with Mickey confetti and streamers. The food was awesome as usual. Our waiter brought dd a cupcake and she got to blow out the candle twice. She also got a card signed by Pooh and friends. During the march around the restaurant, she was supposed to follow Pooh. He had an “it’s my special day” sign. Well, she was a little confused. She just wanted to clap and twirl around. So, after chasing her with the video camera rolling, she finally caught on. It was really funny actually. We are pretty sure we were sitting next to a pro football player. He wore mirrored shades and a ball cap the whole time and he kept smiling at my dh like “yes, you know who I am, thanks for not bothering me.” We are not quite sure who it was, but we have him on tape, so we are asking our friends if anyone recognizes him. I have definitely seen him before.
After lunch, we decided to go back to the room as dh was not feeling well. By this time, I was having allergy attacks too. He took a nap and dd and I went swimming.
We had a 7:00 ps at 1900 Park Fare so we set out toward the MK for another monorail ride. We got there a little early and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. (Side note – dd would NOT wear her Cindy dress, no matter how much I tried to convince her. So, I gave up and decided that it wasn’t as important as her having a good time.) The food was OK. I couldn’t taste much, but dh wasn’t that impressed either. The best thing I had was the cream of mushroom soup. I liked the children’s buffet because they had chicken nuggets. Dd will not eat strips, only nuggets and this was the only place they had them. Dd got a placemat with signatures on it that she could take home and a birthday crown. We saw Suzy, Perla, Cindy and Prince C. Prince C. sat with her while we sang happy birthday. I have it on tape and it is so cute! She got her cupcake and made a wish as well.
After dinner, we made it back to the Magic Kingdom just in time to get a spot right in front of the train station for Spectro. Dd made a friend and they laughed and giggled through the whole thing. I have it all on tape and it turned out really well! After Spectro, we walked over to Tommorowland, right near the Plaza Pavilion and got a spot to see Wishes. I got an awesome shot of Tink flying down from the castle. She was right above us and this is the first time I could actually see her and not just a green blob. After Wishes, we ran back to FL to ride Dumbo. This time, we only had to wait 5 minutes and it was so cool to ride it at night.
We had a really long wait for the bus this time. About an hour and a half. We sat on a bench and met a family from Ontario. They decided at the last minute to make the trip down. No reservations or anything. They got one of the last rooms available at Pop Century. I told them they were very brave! I could never do that.
All in all, it was a good birthday for dd. She had a good time and so did we.
Next installment – Last day, Boardwalk, Epcot and Chef Mickey’s
