Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Sea World: Convince Us!
I'm real confused on this one. I love sea animals, and I've been to the Sea World in Ohio before it became a Six Flags. I loved it. DH and I went to out local aquarium today. We loved it.
Convince us that Sea World is worth $55 each!
Thanks!
Jennifer

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Oh Jennifer...you really and truly MUST go!!!! I haven't been since 1990, and it has TOTALLY changed!!
Everyone was telling me to go ..that it is so awesome and so much great things to see there. So I did buy my tix and that is one thing on my upcoming trip that I cannot wait to do/see!!! My BF, who is travelling with me, said she's been there so many times and never gets tired of it. She loves to be able to touch the dolphins and Stingrays. The Penguin Encounter is also another of her favorites, not to mention the entire "Shamu" show.
They even have a brand new night-time fireworks/lazer show called Mystique (to rival Disney's Wishes or Illuminations...so they are saying and hoping) that will keep their park opened til about 10pm that will be shown for the summer months...but no word yet for what they'll do after August. Perhaps they want to see what sort of attendance they will get for this show.
I guess it is now so expansive and so much to see. Another great option is you can dine with Shamu! If you check out the website, it looks pretty neat.
Let me know what you decide.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
I'll do you one better. How bout saving almost 8 dollars off each ticket. Go to their web site and click on tickets. If you purchase tickets 7 days before you arrive? It is almost 48 for adults and I think 44 for children. My notes have disappeared on this one. It is a better deal then what AAA is offering. We are doing Sea World because they closed the one in Ohio and we refuse to do 6 Flags for renigging on keeping Sea World open. We boycott 6 Flags.
At any rate, we also saved big on ordering our tickets on line directly from Kennedy Space Center as well. Plus you can eat with Shamu if you so desire or have lunch with an astronaut. That we aren't doing. We might eat with Shamu. But playing that one by ear. I heard Sea World of Orlando is better then the one was in Ohio. We are taking our daughter to Sea World because I was pregnant with her when me and my husband went. I really had a great time there. Has it been almost 7 years? Wow. Good luck on your decision.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Our kids LOVE Sea World! It is very different from WDW or Universal. It is a very relaxing day and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. MY kids still remember getting to pet one of the Clysdale horses and seeing the whale shows. The also enjoyed getting to pet the sting-rays. Hope you decide to go.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Another vote for Sea World! We went in October and had a great time. The grounds are beautiful and the shows are great. It's different than WDW so don't expect that feeling, but it's worth it.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Alex and I have AP's for Sea World. I've also been to the one in Ohio, and the Orlando one is even better!
It's definately worth the price!!!!!

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
It's worth a visit. We went in 2002 and enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if it's something worth doing again.

For my take on SeaWorld, visit Summer Solo Sojourn and scroll down to the bottom and click on the link to my "SeaWorld" page. Lots of pictures!

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
I totally agree with everyones comments about Seaworld Orlando being great, we last went in 2000, we ran out of time to go in 2002( to much to do in WDW) but we are definately going in November this year, my DS's can't wait!
We are also going to by E-tickets before we go to save 10% of gate price.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Thanks everyone! We won't make a decision til we get there ( I know, we could save 10.00, but that's ok ) but I have a feeling we may end up there.
I checked out their website, and they have a lot more than I thought! I would love to see the Tropical Rainforest!
I'll keep you posted! thanks again!

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
Actually using E Tickets saves you more like 12 to 13% off purchase price. I know, I called them to ask them about the E Ticket price and then how do I go about using our AAA discount on top of that. She told me it was 10% AAA and theirs is a better deal. So if you want a great price? Go on line.

Re: Sea World: Convince Us!
There was actually a coupon in my Entertainment book for 5.00 off each admission, up to 6 people! So I can still get the tickets in person (in the event we change our mind, which is why we've decided not to pre buy) and save a few bucks!
