Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Huntley\'s do the \'World\"-Day 4 confusion happens
Before I continue with my TR just wanted to add that there only seemed to be certain areas of all the parks that were crowded...didn't really SEEM crowded until about 3 days before we left. The heat just really wiped us out for the most part, it averaged 95 degrees everyday.
Day 4 June 16
Today we thought we would just take it easy and possibly do Downtown Disney today. However, some things just don't work out in your favor even on vacation as we soon discovered. After getting directions from a bus driver, we thought we were on our way. We were informed that we have to get a DtD bus at any resort. We decided to go check out WL first and hop a bus from there. We found the sign that said DtD, and I am new on alot of this bus stuff, the sign posted said Disney-MGM Studios Downtown Disney, so we hopped on the first bus we saw. Took us to the studios. Driver informed us that we can only catch a bus to downtown at a resort only. So we all hop off, we get sick of buses by end of day. I had everyone find a place in the shade a take a look around to see if we could just get a bus to the swan/dolphin hotels, couldn't, not sure why. Anyway, I stop at the bus information booth and a terrific lady spelled it out perfectly for me, she couldn't have been nicer. She said "ok this is the quickest way to get to downtown from here, hop on pop century bus, bus stop 6, get off the bus there and wait for a bus that says downtown disney on it and it will take us right there." I thanked the lady profusely. I got back and get my parents and my sons and explain what I was told, my dad got very upset, why didn't the FIRST person we ask make it understood that the bus would say downtown disney on it. He is a bit stuck in the way it USED to be and doesn't take too kindly to them changing things at his Disney World, if you know what I mean. OK on to Pop Century, we arrived there with NO problem and found a bench to sit on, we didn't have the energy to walk around the resort but it looked really cool, me and my mom kept commenting on the different things they had there. We didn't realize there were 2 bus stops at Downtown Disney and got off at the marketplace one instead of Pleasure Island. We had decided we would take the boys to Disney Quest but after consulting the map discovered how long the walk was, especially for my parents. Anyhow, we wondered through the Days of Christmas store. Dang, wish I had been rich, I fell in love with almost everything I saw in there, had to make myself leave. We walk a bit more and go into World of Disney and decided this is where we would do most of our souveneir shopping on Friday before we leave. My parents wanted to take a rest on a nearby bench but the boys were anxious to get to DQ, so I told mom that I would take the boys and her and dad could catch up with us there. We found DQ with no problem and used our passes to get in. The boy throughly loved the Genie movie on the elevator. They didn't know what they wanted to do first. Scott tried the Pinball game, got video of that. It was hilarious watching the adults hop and jump around. Only thought that went through my head was I get enough exercise just walking through the parks I don't need to add anymore. Scott, Damon and I did the comix virtual thingie. It wasn't bad but I kept hitting myself with the wand we used as a sword. Damon wasn't fond of it though and refused to do it again. As we were getting out of the helmets, my parents were standing at the exit. I couldn't believe that they were able to find us, I got lost just walking around. They didn't notice me or Scott who were sitting directly in front of them, but did notice the BACK of Damon's head. Wonder if I should be upset that they didn't know their own daughter first rofl...We then got my dad on Virtual POC...that was a riot. I was the captain and piloted the boat...so glad I don't do that for a living, I ran into ALL kinds of things, even sent us down a waterfall of some sort. We were all laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Me and the boys then tried virtual jungle cruise, not as easy as it looks, and we only got a little damp.Scott and I did CyberSpaceMountain. Damon wasn't tall enough so my parents took him over to the arcade game area. That is a great concept, we only got a 4 thrill factor though, guess should have put in alot more loops. We found my parents and decided that we had had enough for the day and headed back to the campground. We relaxed and then decided to go rock on the rocking chairs at Crockett's Tavern and then watch Wishes from the dock. It was a lovely time, especially watching all the kids wading in the water at the dock. We then went to catch our bus. Ok this is my BIGGEST complaint of the trip. The bus system at the campground should really be thought over. We had to wait almost 30 minutes before a purple bus showed up. On more than ONE occassion the yellow or orange busses would show up 2 more times than our purple. Needless to say most of the people that stood there waiting needed the purple. They have a lady in a van that I would assume is to be watching out these buses are arriving and such. However, her only response to the fact of us waiting was not an "I'm sorry" but was a short snappy "I'm short stafffed tonight"....We still can't figure out why they took out the trams, you can get alot more people on those in my opinion. Ok over with my rant. We finally got on our bus and headed back to the campsite. It had been a long day so we all retired making plans to hit Epcot tomorrow.
Up Next-Day 5 Epcot

Hey Mitzi more great updates. I am no fan of the Disney busses either. Every other mode of transportation they have is so magical and pleasant but the busses are so different. Can't wait to read more about your trip.
