As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Happy and excited to say I'm taking my three daughter to UO in early December. It's a really quick trip - arriving early Monday morning and flying back home late Wed. evening.
We're staying at Cabana Beach. This is my first stay there as we were at Sapphire Falls last year.
Quick questions:
I saw the previous post about walking from Cabana to Sapphire Falls to take the water taxi to the parks. Still okay or will we be asked for resort ID?
If not, is it worth upgrading to Sapphire? I'm really dreading riding a bus to the parks and we want to make the best use of our time.
Second - suggestion for things to do in the evening. I'm seeing park closures at 6pm during our stay and I want to plan some fun things. Mini golf at CityWalk ? My youngest is 19 so I don't want to make them feel like I'm treating them all like little kids.

We were not asked for ID for the boats. You can use them.
We only used the boats once from Sapphire and found we preferred walking. We felt like we waited forever for the boat the time we did.
When I stayed at CB we walked in the morning sometimes and used the buses back during the heat of the day. The buses are VERY convenient. There is almost always one or more waiting to take you both directions and the run very often on the short ride. Don't think of it in terms of Disney buses at all. They are much much better.
My kids are early 20s. At night-
We did mini-golf
We went to the movies
We did Blue Man Group
You can go bowling at CB and you can watch a movie or cook smores on the firepit there too.
I agree that the Cabana Bay buses are outstanding. Literally, in our two visits we have not waited more than a couple of minutes to get on a bus. The bus service there is the best I’ve ever used.
You can use the boats, but I thought it was a hassle to cross the street, get to the boat dock, and yes, wait for the next boat. If you want to maximize your time, I would definitely suggest avoiding the boats. That’s probably the slowest option from CB.
As for CB itself, we love it and highly recommend it. The food court is a plus for us. They serve good food. The property is sparkling, both interior and exterior.
Are you springing for a family suite? If so, you’ll appreciate the sitting area and maybe the kitchenette. If only a standard room, don’t fear. They are quite spacious and I’m sure you’ll cope well on such a short trip.
Evening activities? Cabana Bay has a bowling alley, plus a standard video arcade, or there are Hidden Mickey’s previously mentioned activities.

You're right - I am comparing them to Disney.
We only tried to use the bus once during our stay last year; thunderstorm closed the water taxis and we had to try and find the bus stop in the middle of the storm. The crowds waiting were phenomenal and we ended up calling a Lyft. So I was just assuming bus service was slow.
