As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). For our family trip next June my husband and I thought it would be nice to allow the kids some independence and let them explore one of the parks at their own pace while he and I had a nice sit down dinner together. They will be 15 & 11 by that time so they are really looking forward to having that time without mom & dad telling them what to do. I am having a very hard time trying to decide on a restaurant. We are pretty wide open with the location because it will be the only ADR I plan to make and we are not picky at all. We are on the QSDP so this will be paid for out of pocket. I kind of want to be eating in the same park the kids will be in just in case something does happen and I have to get to them quickly. I thought Epcot might be best because there are so many options there but then again I kind of wanted to try Tiffins at AK but then there's some of the signature dining at the hotels that we haven't tried either and it's only a quick walk or monorail ride away...... and that's when I get overwhelmed and I feel a headache coming on.
What restaurants would you recommend for a couple on a "date night?" Which ones have you had good experiences with the service and the food? Thanks for any insight and suggestions you have!
For signature dining I would definitely recommend Citrico's at the GF. It is a must do for Her Dotness and myself. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic. We have never had a bad meal here.

A hearty second on that. Citricos is one of the few open kitchen Disney restaurants that actually has staff who know how to cook fairly quietly. Kitchen noise is much less there than at others such as Cali Grill. You can converse without leaning in to hear or shouting to be heard.
ETA: Citricos is on the GF's 2nd floor as is the exit to the monorail station. Easy to get to a train for the short ride to MK. only about 10 minutes travel time if you're lucky enough to catch the train immediately.
Lots like Narcoosee's near the GF boat dock, but we've had only so-so service at best both times we've eaten there. Also, it'd be a hike over to the Main Bldg to get on the monorail. You might be able to get to MK faster by the boat.
As for places in Epcot, Rose & Crown pub-casual in both food and atmosphere. Terrific food. We also think Tutto Italia superb for upscale Italian although somewhat noisy when crowded.
Since you say Tiffins appeals, how about Spice Road Table in Epcot? A bit exotic but mid-priced. Time your dinner well, and you'll be right near some great viewing spots for IllumiNations.
ETA: I originally suggested Yachtsman Steakhouse in Yacht Club as a wonderful adult getaway. On second thought, it'd be a bit of a hike to Epcot's International Gateway (the "back door" ) in case you needed to get to your kids in a hurry. It's not terribly far but probably too far in an urgent situation. You might want to save that one for another time.
If nothing suggested so far suits, give us a bit more info about your tastes, and maybe we can zero in on the perfect place.

Our favourite is the California Grill, but if you want something at a park, we've had an amazing meal at Spice Road Table, which would work. I can also thoroughly recommend Tiffin's - we adored our meal there.

One of our favorite restaurants is California Grill and our last trip (6years ago ) we enjoyed a dinner at Flying Fish while the kids were at the Sandcastle Club. I forgot all about Citrico's so that's a great option and I've been wanting to try Spice Road Table since it opened. I may have to ask the children what park they want to explore without us and that will at least start to narrow down the list.
Ohhhhhhh, I totally forgot about Flying Fish. You'd think I'd have remembered that one since we are soooooo excited to try it (in a little over a week! )
That would definitely be a great choice. It has a whole new look that is said to be gorgeous. Also has a new chef and all new menu since you last were there and gets beyond rave reviews.
The BoardWalk isn't that far from Epcot either in case of urgent kid situation.

I think asking the kids which park they want to explore is a great way to start! Once you have a location it will make it easier to narrow your options down. There are great restaurants near or in every park.
