As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. I had been books at Pop Century May 29-June3, but decided to try to move some place that we would have a refrigerator not a a dorm sized one. So, 4 adults are staying a Fort Wilderness in a cabin May 28-June 3 in a handicapped accessible cabin.
We are driving and I anticipate we will arrive about 8-9 pm on Sunday night since the earliest I can leave is about 6:30 am. Any tips for us Fort Wilderness Newbie's.

Fort Wilderness is VERY spread out so unless you feel like walking everywhere on top of walking all day in the parks, you'll have to wait for the internal bus system to take you where you need to go or you could rent a very expensive golf cart to get around. Even though you can park a vehicle (and only one) at the cabins, there are no other parking spots in the campground itself. There is no food court at FW, only two "trading posts" where you can buy some food stuff and Trails End Buffet - a sit down restaurant. To get to the MK, you can take a boat or a bus. If you're using a scooter or a wheelchair (you mentioned the handicapped cabin) you'll have to wait for the larger boats that can accommodate people with wheels. You could also drive to the TTC but that would still require taking the ferry or the monorail. All other parks are bus only and those pick you up out at the main parking lot. The cabin itself I have no experience with as I've only stayed in the regular cabins with full size and bunk beds.
We only stayed in the cabins once. Being our first time, our family felt a little disoriented and it took us a couple of days to get used to which internal bus took us where. We too have only stayed in a regular cabin so I can't comment on an accessible one. We stayed with 4 adults and one child and I can comment that we had to coordinate our schedules for bathroom time as there is only one bathroom. We used the kitchen in the cabin and that helped a lot since there's no food court at FW.
We have stayed at all of the deluxe and moderate resorts and this is by far my kids favorite. It is so nice to come "home" from a hectic day at the parks to such peace and tranquility. The recent renovations to the cabins are fantastic. Our youngest is a type 1 diabetic and eating out for every meal can wreck havoc with her numbers. Having a full size kitchen to prepare breakfast and quick meals definetly helps when managing her health. My biggest tip- rent a golf cart. Although we have stayed without one and managed just fine, having a cart gives you so much more freedom to explore the beautiful property. Disney prices on their carts can be steep m, but worth every penny. There are outside businesses that will delivery a cart to you for less than the Disney rental price.

You may want to look into this carefully though. I want to say that there was a post from sometime last year stating that Disney was no longer allowing this

Abby is right Disney no longer allows for OUTSIDE GC vendors to deliver on Property. We meet our guy off property drive his truck and trailer back to Ft W unload the cart and return his truck then reverse the procedure to return at the end of trip
We love the cabins - they are our resort-of-choice.
Because we drive, we take ice chests with all our refrigerated items. And a carful of pantry items. And it makes leftovers from the restaurants much easier to enjoy.
In our daily planning, I schedule early arrival at the parks. I tote along lunch items and store in the lockers at entrance to the parks. We then return around the 3 pm time frame. Everyone naps, then we cook dinner before heading out again. Travel time can be an issue so I carefully look at the meals away "from home". Because we cook our own breakfast and dinner, we have never purchased the dining plans. We don't drink sodas so we do not get the refillable mugs either.
I hope you enjoy the cabins as much as we do. The relaxed, private setup is wonderful.

I carry snacks in the park. I remember my 50th birthday trip we were in Epcot sitting on a wall near Test Track eating our areas sharing our Oreos with a little girl about three or so talking about Minnie.

Okay before I say anything else WE are huge fans of the Fort. If you like a tame trail ride there is the Tri Circle D Ranch up near the reception outpost. Every night at the Meadows complex they have the Chip and Dale Campfire Sing Along and Movie. Another nightly event is the Electric Water Pageant that can be enjoyed from the Marina and Beach. Down by Pioneer Hall - Trails End buffet is the pony ride for little buckaroos where you can see where Cinderella's Ponys are housed and groomed . The Stable where the draft Horses seen on Main Street are housed is right near by you might want to ask one of the Barn Hands if the Blacksmith will be working during your stay.

I have stayed in an Accessible Cabin, so if you have any specific questions, I will try to answer them.
That being said, yes, you'll need to take the internal bus system anyway with a scooter, so you might as well save your money and not get a cart.
Additionally, the accessible cabins are all in the loop closest to check in (2800), and farthest from the restaurants and marina. If your other party members like a bit of a walk, you can walk/scoot to the external bus depot, but it is a bit of a hike I will warn you. The good thing here is that going to any park except the Magic Kingdom you are only one Internal stop away from the external buses.
Does your Mom have a lot of experience with the scooter she will be using?
The buses are fairly easy to get on, but parking in the scooter spot takes a bit of practice. Some people find it easier to get off and let someone else maneuver the empty scooter into place. Because you will be using 2 buses to get to all parks except MK, this is even more important than some of the other resorts.
The cabins themselves have nice wide ramps, and plenty of maneuverability inside. They are laid out differently from the regular cabins, but Disney has good pictures in their gallery.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the cabins, and even though our cabin had two wheelchair users in it (power chairs) and two able bodied people in it, and my Sister's cabin had 3 scooter users in it, no one had trouble finding space for them and the equipment inside.
Ft Wilderness is our absolute favorite !!
The pool complex is wonderful. There is a splashground for the kids, pool with waterslide and HOT TUB, which is amazing after a day at the parks.
The resort is large so instead of a golf cart you could always rent bikes to use along with the scooter for quick trips to the pool, stables, tradin posts, marina, campfire etc...There is quick service at Trails End and the pool. You can refill your mugs at both locations. The campfire also has a food truck each night. You can find the menus on allearsnet.com
You can catch the Electric Water Pageant from the marina at night.
There is a nature trail over to the Wilderness lodge if you want to use their restaurants and buses as well.
There are canoe rentals, archery experience, fishing, trail rides , pony rides.

Like Coastie big fan of FW. Given choice we will go there every time. One thing to say is Bike rentals are for day and not for over night But still a good choice
