As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

First time (actual staying) trip to DL. going for 4 days. Doing Tink half and looking for great food places. Since I have never been, Im reaching out for good suggestions.

We have to eat at Ble Bayou each time, because it is someplace only found at DL. It's less expensive to do lunch there. And if you want to try the iconic Monte Cristo sandwich, you can share it between two of you (and with how sweet it is, that's probably advised).
DL has the best corn dogs! At a little cart near the hub.
We enjoyed the food at the lounge at Grand California. My daughter is still talking about the Waygu beef sliders there.

We enjoyed both Blue Bayou and Ralph Brennan's. We also had breakfast at Flo's V8 café and it was a typical Disney breakfast, but the view was nice of the Cadillac Range.

Breakfast: I would aim for an ADR at Carnation Cafe. If you are one of the first guests, you might get attention from Chef Oscar, the longest-employed Disney Park employee. http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/na...ce-on-thursday
Lunch: Fried Chicken at the Plaza Inn. The Yule Log is also well worth it, and you can split both. The Fried Chicken plate is really big.
Other: If you can stand the wait (no ADRs) the Cove Bar at DCA has lobster nachos that the bloggers gush over. I've never been able to take the time to wait to get in.
Pinocchio house flatbread pizzas are on my disney food bucket list. The corn dogs are good but I can't spend $9 on a corn dog.
I love ice cream, so a cone from Gibson Girl is always on my list.
The Whitewater cafe in the Grand Californian is reported to have great nachos, and the carnitas nachos are supposedly off-menu but offered and excellent.
For fine dining, I advise skipping Blue Bayou for the food quality, but it still may be worth it for the experience. We went last time and split a meal. For a $10 split fee, you get 2 servings of everything but the main dish.
I've read very good things about the taco stand area near Goofy's Sky School in DCA. Can't remember what that's called now.
One time we took our own butter in and had a sourdough feast with sourdough from the bakery in DCA.
Rancho del Zocalo at DL has a taco salad that is an excellent value. I got the beef, which was dry, but the size and freshness of the tortilla bowl and the veggies made it an excellent choice anyways. Next time I would get the chicken, or order it vegetarian. This is now a must do on every visit for me. It's definitely big enough to share.
Late Night Snack/Late Dinner: Chowder in a bread bowl if the Harbour Galley is open.
PLEASE don't overlook Trader Sam's at the DL Hotel. It's one of my favorite places on Earth. I haven't explored their food menu, but the ambiance is really the main draw. Drink quality depends on the bartender and your taste. I find the menu drinks a little on the too-sweet side, but I have a pretty specific palate for cocktails, so I'm not a great judge.

We had the World of Color dining package at Carthay Circle in September and it was delicious. I didn't like the sides on offer and requested mashed potatoes instead. Best mashed potatoes I have ever eaten! I strongly recommend them!
I love Flo's V8 Cafe, for their hand-carved roast beef and turkey. I had the roasted chicken once, and it was really good.
For snacks: go to New Orleans Square (French Market, I think, or the window off to the side) and order beignets! This is not optional.
