As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). We are looking to stay at one of these two resorts for our next trip because of their location and convenience to Epcot and HS. I was wondering which one would be better to stay in.
Is one a closer walk to Epcot?
Are they currently renovating BCV? The renovated BWV look very nice..
The pool at BCV makes me lean towards BC but the rooms do not look as nice as the renovated BWV.
Also, what is the travel time to MK like? Does anyone go to Epcot and take the monorail to the MK?
Both resorts seem great but getting all of your opinions def. helps!

Beach Club Villas may be a slightly quicker walk to Epcot than Boardwalk Villas, but Boardwalk is certainly close enough for a nice walk. If the weather is decent, Boardwalk is also walking distance (15-20 minutes at most) from Hollywood Studios.
Walking through Epcot to the monorail is unlikely to be any quicker than waiting for a bus to the Magic Kingdom. That would involve going through Bag Check into World Showcase, going through the UK and Canada, then walking through half of Future World out the exit and to the monorail.
If you will be in Future World anyhow (and have a park hopper), then catching the monorail to MK makes sense. If not, I would wait for the bus.
We have enjoyed both Beach Club and Boardwalk. If it is not warm enough to swim, I prefer Boardwalk because it has more atmosphere outside. The main pool area Is much better at Beach Club, though.
You can't go wrong either way. Happy planning!

I agree that both are great resorts and either would be a fine choice. My personal recommendation would be BC simply because we've stayed there more often and have had terrific times. Both resorts are wonderfully convenient to Epcot and DHS.

Which is quite a hike.
Then, even if you can hop onto a train immediately at both the EP station and the TTC, you're still faced with about an hourlong ride to the MK.
We usually do that from the IG because we dislike the buses and enjoy the monorail ride whether MK Express from the TTC or the resort loop from there on to the MK. The MK Express sometimes isn't running these days, though. You'll have two brief stops on the resort loop train--TTC to Poly to GF and then MK.
However, you can generally figure a wait for the train at either EP or the TTC if unlucky. Monorail is likely to be far more time consuming altogether than waiting for a bus, I'm guessing, although we've never taken the bus from BC so am not certain.

Another transportation idea that may have occurred to you--
We glance toward the ferryboat dock when heading to MK from the TTC and vice versa. Oftentimes, we've walked right onto the ferry with no monorail in sight and gotten to where we're going faster ...or maybe it just seems like it since we find the boat rides so relaxing and enjoyable.
That may be an option if speedy transit isn't your primary concern.

I prefer BC to BW. But if I can't get a room at BCV and can at BWV I will stay there before staying at another DVC property. The pool at BW creeps me out a little. And I like the sand bottom pool at BC.
I've stayed at both. Pool is better at BC, The villas at BC are closer to Epcot by a little bit. Room was nicer at BWV than BCV. View from room was better at BWV but I booked a Boardwalk view. BWV are in the same building as the hotel, BCV have a separate building.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay at either again, but BC would probably be my first choice due to the pool complex.
I really love both of these resorts, and we've stayed in the villas of each multiple times. Yes, BCV rooms are a bit closer to Epcot, and if you have your heart set on Stormalong Bay, then obviously BCV is going to be your top choice. Otherwise, I'd go with BWV. There's more going on over at the Boardwalk, and I love the décor. Good luck and enjoy your trip!!
PS - travel to MK from the Epcot resorts is a bit of a hassle, but what can you do. Waiting for the bus to MK is my least favorite thing about staying on that side of the world!
