As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Craft room suggestions?
I have a large-ish room in our snowbird home that will be my craft room (yay!). I'm compacting from being spread out over half the basement, but I get the chance to design the whole thing from scratch. Right now, I'm looking online and on Pinterest at other people's craft rooms for ideas.
I'd like to know your ideas, too!
-If you have a craft area, what do you love best about it? What do you wish you had?
-If you do or don't have one, what would your dream craft room have? How would it look?
It'll definitely have some sort of Disney theme, of course. I'm leaning toward a big work table of some sort in the center, and a computer desk plus low kitchen cabinets (painted white) around the walls. I have lots of papers and things in big Iris bins and shelves, so I'll need to be able to put them in a closet or set them in the counter top. Definitely need some type of bookshelves to display finished albums.
I have my own craft studio - "sewing room" in all the other houses we lived.
So here's my Best Practices:
- Use your closet up and down. I removed one clothes pole and inserted tall drawer organizers. I have a jewelry organizer on the door, a wall drawer organizer (Home Depot) for smaller items. I hang fabric, quilt tops and quilt panels on pants hangers. Everything on the upper most shelving is less used but clearly identified
- Shelving, drawers, cubbies - whatever you are most happy with. I have alittle of everything, including a French secretary desk. I'm constantly pulling open drawers to reacquaint myself with its' treasures. (Disappointed in myself when I buy something I already own but didn't look for.)
- Good lighting. Besides the ceiling fan lights, I have a moveable drafting light and several table Ott lights.
- Extension cords - I use multi plug strips for everything. And have a hook for the cord exclusively for my iron.
-Clear out the clutter. It may sound harsh but really go through your stash. Every space is precious so keep only things you know you will use. The drawer organizer I mentioned above really helped me group things and get rid of "too many" of certain items.
-Labels - I have a Brother Ptouch label maker and have used it everywhere.
- Over the years I used my JoAnn's coupons to get plastic stacked drawers. My scrapbooking paper has it's own stacked space. But you get what you pay for. Plastic does not move well so choose carefully. (We were a military family with 17 moves.)
- Personally appealing. Put your own personal touch in the room. Not everything has to be functional. I have a large collection of tins which circle the room on quilt hanger shelving and cabinets.
- I have a sewing machine table that holds 2 machines. Also a portable table that holds a computer which hooks up to my sewing machine. And another portable table that holds my Brother Scan N Cut.
- I have moved work tables in and out of the room depending on other needs. You need some type of working space which lets you leave projects out. Although the floor works for that too.

Sadly, I do not have a craft room in our current home...In our previous place I loved my "stash" of gear hidden away in cupboards around the edge of the room and a great big empty space in the middle where I could lay on my stomach to journal neatly in my scrapbooks. I also had a really long executive desk that I used to plan the layouts on.
I do not have any matching craft boxes, tins or paper trees etc and all the furniture has been preloved from elsewhere in our home.
Sorry I don't have any ideas for you, except have fun planning and playing in your new space!

I don't have a craft space although I do have a home office. Really think about how you work, how you like things stored and what you do the most. Do you prefer everything where you can see it? If so having everything tucked away in drawers, cupboards and bins is going to drive you crazy. Are you someone who stands? Or do you sit? Both? If you do more than one type of craft but mainly focus on just one consider setting up two work stations one for the craft you do the most and another for everything else. That way you don't have put away whatever you current project is in the craft that's you main focus in order to work on something else. I'm considering setting up a Disney planning station in my home office so that I don't have to put all my Disney trip planning stuff away in order to do something else as I seem to always be in the middle of planning a trip.
I love the Kallax (Used to be Expedit) shelving from IKEA. The cubes fit 12x12 albums and papers perfectly.
I agree with Pat about the closet. If you are not using it for clothing storage, definitely consider storage options inside . The closet in my "studio" fits the 4x4 Expedit perfectly. I also have two 2x4 units in my dining room that hold my finished albums. A 2x2 is next to my computer desk with my Silhouette on top and I have another 2x4 unit laying down that has my Cricut and cartridges on it.
