Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

She does on occasion scratch and lick her front paw but that is only once in awhile so am very happy and so is she.
Again so glad that Susie is doing well and that her hair is growing back..slowly but still growing back.
Nice to know that both are much better and again thanks for asking about Molly.
Glad to hear Molly is on the mend too. It is so hard to see our furry friends suffer - and what our family has done for our furry family has been called crazy by others so I totally get it. Hope everything continues to improve for everyone furry & non-furry included.

Yep double yep. Winter was horrid here in SW PA, feel like I have been suffering for months not weeks thru this spring or whatever weather phenomena is occurring. However, not praying for the summer heat like you are bc it exacerbates my chronic migraines. I guess this year is a no win for me.

So sorry that you have summer heat issue. Well maybe it won't be too hot where you are. Now we are battling caterpillars and not the good ones the gypsy moth kind. Arghhhh.. nothing but nasty. And I don't have the trees they like either.

So it's been a while, but here's an update on Susie.

Susie came to live with us permanently about the time this thread went dormant. My dad had a massive stroke and we lost him in July of last year.

She had been doing pretty good with a few minor stumbles, but recently things had gotten kinda bad. Prior to this she hadn't needed baths every week and had been doing good on her all fishy diet and meds. Then over about three weeks, the itchy, oily skin was back, her ears were bothering her etc. I was afraid that the Apoquel had stopped working.

Just got back from taking her to the vet and this is the verdict:

She has a bacterial infection again.
She has a yeast infection again
Her ears needed to be cleaned again and she has drops that will need to be put in for the next two weeks.
She will have to have the medicated baths weekly (or more often) again.
And we have a special supplement to "promote healthy skin (for life).

Ugh...and all this just as we get ready to go on vacation in a week!!!!!!! There will be two days when the girls will need someone to take care of them. We leave on the night of the 27th and DS comes back the evening of the 29th. I'm actually thinking about boarding the girls at the vet for those two - three days because of all the meds poor Susie needs. Or at least boarding Susie. I would hate to lose all the progress I'm hoping we will make in the next week on her skin.

So I hope that Miss Molly is doing well and hasn't had a relapse.

So sorry to hear about your dad!

I had a diabetic cat, and I boarded him with the vet most of the time when we traveled, since he needed daily shots. I'm sure that's the best way to go, and your son can get him when he comes back. that all this clears up!

How old is Susie?

Thank you for your condolences. It's been a rough year.

Susie and Abby both are around 10. They were rescued by their previous owner from a house in California and them my sister ended up with them. When it turned out that Susie couldn't stop torturing my sister's cat, she went to live our dad and Abby came to live with us. And now Susie has come to be with us as well. We are kind of guessing on their age...and going by what the vet tells us.

Now about apoquel...it is not the drug that they first thought and I had to take Molly off of it. It was even on one of our news channel. I can't past the darn article....arghhhhh.
http://www.theinternetpetvet.com/apo...gy-medication/
but try to open the above site. pretty scary...
So it has been tough as Molly is doing the itching and biting thing until one of my Cairn sites suggested I try coconut oil..So I started last week as you have to start slowly every day I gave Molly 1/4 teaspoon over her breakfast food and now am up to 1/2 teaspoon next week I will go to 1 full teaspoon once a day. It does have to be PURE coconut oil but I can buy it in our supermarket
http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com...f-coconut-oil/
Let me know your thoughts....and good luck.

I will need to get all her issues under control and then talk to the vet about weaning her off the Apoquel. The only issue listed in the article is the skin infection problem.

Right now, if I take her off it she will be miserable. Her bath, medicated soak, ear cleaning and the first dose of meds seem to have helped. So tonight will be another bath and medicated soak and ear cleaning and second round of meds. Hoping to get her down to one bath/soak a week and if she is doing good we will see about taking her off the Apoquel.

The vet did do blood work yesterday to make sure her liver etc is okay and not being adversely affected. I should have the results today or tomorrow.

I don't want to do anything drastic or make major changes until we get back from DH's conference. I don't want to put that responsibility on DS or my dog/house sitters. As long as Susie is comfortable and not scratching herself silly or getting sick, we will go with things as they are for the next two weeks and when we get home I can re-evaluate.

What kind of supplement is your dog on now? I've been hearing an ad on the radio down here for a product called Dinovite that's supposed to help with a host of skin issues. Just thought I'd mention it.

She is getting a oil supplement (plus a small squirt of salmon oil on her breakfast). She is allergic to chicken and beef. We tried the Dinovite for a little while (probably needed to try longer - but it didn't seem to be making any difference) but many of their products contain chicken liver/fat etc. Not all, but many of them. We have her on a completely fishy diet.
