Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great Stay!! Nice break from the "hustle"!!

We stayed at CSR last Feb. We had booked a water view room, but were magically upgraded to a 2 room suite. The rooms are meant to be separated, but had a connecting door. One room was meant to be accessible, and had a low king bed, large bathroom, and a lower bureau. The other room had a couch with a pull out bed and the exact same bathroom. Both rooms were furnished with a TV, comfy chair, table with chairs, telephone, the standard!!

We were also very lucky because our room was STEPS away from the bus stop, so we had easy access. The pool was a short walk away, and the main reception area was a good walk - some may have not liked it, but we enjoy walking.

The pool and hot tub were fantastic (especially the hot tub, with lots of room), and thetheming was great! A nice southwest theme, with everything colored great!

The Pepper Market had fresh food, fast! And was nice because it was CS, but with waiters.

Yes, this resort does not scream Mickey and Minnie everywhere you look, it offers a nice relief from all the "hustle" . This isn't the resort for you if you're looking for a fast paced and Mickey filled resort. If you're looking for a nice break, but with Disney service and some Disney Magic - this place is for you!!

We stayed at Coronado Springs for the first time 1/6/11-1/12/11. We have now stayed at all of the moderates, and have decided that CSR is our favorite. We were given a lovely room in the Cabanas bldg 9B, with an incredibly short (about 2 min) walk to El Centro and the main bus stop. We really enjoyed relaxing in the beach hammocks, and also took advantage of the hot tub (not the pool though, as it looked amazing but was very chilly during our trip). All of the CMs we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. One of my favorite things about this resort is the fact that it's very large since it's a convention center, and there were several conventions going on while we were there, but it was very quiet and calm despite that. We were never in a huge throng of people anywhere, and we never had to wait for more than one bus to come by for our park destination. I really can't think of any cons. We did not try Pepper Market on this trip, but did enjoy a sandwich from Rix Market. We would be happy to stay at CSR again in a heartbeat!

Loved CSR!!!

We stayed here in March 2011. We had a fantastic time! There were four of us (two adults and two kiddos). I had requested a room in the Cabana section and it was perfect. Our room looked out on one of the lakes and was right next to the Main Pool. The room was nicely decorated and we loved all the little touches. The queen beds were perfect. The only down side is that it was a bit small for four girls and all our luggage. We also had to have a microwave to heat up medicine for my jaw and that took away desk space. But it was a relaxing atmosphere and we all enjoyed coming back to the room and relaxing.

Mousekeeping was great. Whatever we needed they took care of and we got a couple of Mickey's and they did fun things with the girls stuffed animals and toys. I was hoping for a towel animal but oh well.

The Pool area was fantastic. The girls said it was the best pool on property or at least of the ones we have been to. They loved the mayan temple, the slide, the playground, arcade, and sand pit. They also had afternoon games for all the kids where they could win prizes. Really was relaxing and felt like you were on a vacation in Mexico!

The Pepper Market was ok. I loved the pizza and would recommend it. It was difficult even with asking for help to figure out how they figure the dining plan. It wasn't consistent. But we didn't really have any complaints on the food. What we had was good. It wasn't fantastic or anything to write home about but it was passable.

The resort is absolutely beautiful and it was fun to just walk around and take it all in. The bus system was nice. You don't share with any other resort and while we were there weren't long lines or lots of people. You do not notice the convention go-ers and it was nice and quiet and very peaceful.

All the staff was nice and really works with you to make sure that any issues are resolved. I had an issue on my last night when I went to check out. They had extra charges on my account that I never purchased and others that I know were charged to the dining plan. It took awhile and lots of explaining but they finally figured it out and took care of it.

This is our new home resort! The girls can't wait to go back. I am just bummed that it may be several years before I can save up the money again.

Thumbs up Back for a week now...

Well, it's been a week since we got back from our long weekend at the CSR. It was our first time there. Our favorite is AKL Jambo House, but decided to save some money and go with a Moderate. A few moderates were available but we decided to try the one we've never done before. We have done CBR, POR and POFQ but now CSR will be our go to for moderates. We really enjoyed it. And I have to thank our own buzz2001 (hope I've got that right!) for great recommendations and info.

We did not request a specific room and ended up in 6B of the Ranchos. We had heard that walking distances were long. We had no difficulty. In fact, we had more walking at the POP when we had the last room in the farthest building and a next to the last room at AKL a couple of trips ago. And I had a Boardwalk one with a friend once that was far far away, too. So, bottom line is that CSR is no more walking than any other. And the walk is very nice. We were closest to bus stop 3. Bus service was very good everytime except one time. And even that was better than POP ever has been for us. The laundry was close although we didn't need it. We tried the big pool and hot tub once, which were both crowded. We really enjoyed the quiet pool-calm and quiet and not crowded. That goes for two adults and for two teenaged girls.

Pepper Market was good. We tried breakfast twice and dinner once. Breakfast and lunch are the buffet type and dinner is not. Selections and service were good. Go Mickey Waffles! My niece, who has both peanut and soy allergies, was able to find things to eat, but she said that both Mara and Boma had more things that she liked and could eat.

All in all, we will definitely be doing CSR again!

CSR is just ok

CSR is too spread out. We had to take a car to the pool, because the walk was too far. The decor is great, but is set up too much for conferences to work as "resort".

Unhappy My first review!

My mother and I just came back from are stay at Coronado Springs 2 days ago.We stayed 6 days and 5 nights. There were some things we loved and some things..not so much. The things we loved where..
1.)The beauty of the hotel. The hotel was stunning.I loved the touch of the mexican/southwest theme.I enjoyed the mexican style music that would play when walking around the hotel and when on the buses.
2.)The dig site pool. What a beauty it was.We have never been in a pool this large. The temperature was just right even when we went at night. The pool was always packed and it was hard to find 2 lounge chairs next to eachother, but the pool being so big there was always room for us to swim around. The 22 person hot tub was nice too.It certainly helps when your feeling sore.
3.)The bar by the lake near the main entrance. We didn't get to try the bar at the pool but this bar was quite nice. The Pina Coolata was delicious.
4.)The Maya grill. We had dinner here are first night and it was delicious! We both got fajitas. The blueberry mango basal margarita was great. The dining room was beautiful and we got to sit next to a fountain which I enjoyed.
5.)I liked the section are room was in.We where in the Cabana 9A section. We where right behind a leisure pool and right near a strip of beach that had some hammocks. The hammocks where so comfy you could fall asleep in one.

Now somethings we didn't like so much..
1.)Everything is so spaced out.Are room being in the Cabana section wasn't so bad as we where near a bus stop and it was only about a 5 minute walk to the main entrance. The walk to the main pool was maybe about 7 mins.Walking back from the pool one time at night we saw alligators in the lake by the bridge which was pretty cool.We did go to the spa which was near the Ranchos section I believe and that was a pretty far walk from us.With all the walking you do at this hotel your exhausted already when you get to the park.
2.)This hotel has no shady spots like at all.If you want to eat outside I hope you like sweating while you eat because when we tried to have a drink by the lake I just couldn't do it and had to go inside.Load up on the SPF here.
3.)I wasn't a fan of the Peppermarket.I didn't understand the point of the 10% gratuity. Are server was very slow and when I tried to order 2 juices with are coffee she wouldn't let me!She said it was not included and I could only choose one drink.I cant believe I was denied juice.I mean we would have payed for it!The breakfast buffet was tasty though.
4.)Around 9:30 at night on a weekday we decided to stop in the Rix Lounge to try some apps. The place was dead.I wasn't a fan of the loud music they where playing. It was a week day and no one was in there so I thought maybe it would be more of a relaxing enviornment but due to the music not so much. But it is a lounge so what could I expect?Beautiful place, average food.
5.)This hotel lacked the Disney magic most hotels have.I didn't see many Disney touches like at other places. One thing my mom and I love is when checking in and someone says to you welcome home! no one did that here. And on the bus ride back to the hotel, other hotels say welcome home. Not this one.I know it seems like a dumb compliant but its something we liked and it didn't happen here.
6.)We seemed to encounter more rude people here.I don't know why that was,but the people here where kind of rude.
All in all the hotels decor is gorgeous but after experiencing it we would not come back here.Maybe it was more for conventioneers. We just didn't feel that Disney magic and honestly didn't feel very welcome here.

Really liked this resort but still would rather stay at POFQ. The pool and hot tub area was a lot of fun.

Blown away!

Just checked out after 6 nights. We thought it was breathtakingly beautiful. Almost didn't wantto leave to come over to akl! Cast members were top notch at every level. Business people didn't bother us at all. It may be sprawling, but I walked the full loop at a moderate pace and it was exactly 15 minutes. We were in bldg 8B, room 8511. Ideal location. 5-7 minute walk to el Centro or dig site. 1 minute walk to bus stop # 4. Excellent busing. Would highly recommend.

We have only stayed at CS one time - June 2015. We have been to the other Mods and really love POR. This year we wanted to try something new and we are so glad we did! We have a new fave Mod.

CS is really lovely. It is spacious, has great restaurants, has a great pool, and the rooms are "big enough" for a family (*"big enough" is relative to other Disney resorts...). Buses ran very well and the stops were close to the buildings. Although this is a large resort, it is not a bad walk to any location. In fact, the walks are lovely.

We saw a crocodile in the lagoon area. He was living under the walking bridge. It was definitely a croc (pics to prove it). We saw him 4-5 days and then he disappeared. We are assuming he was safely relocated. I am just adding this detail because it certainly added excitement to our stay. It may or may not affect your decision to visit CS.

This is a large resort but it was not crowded at all. In fact, because it is so spacious and sprawled out, it felt empty. Even the foodcourt was not busy --- in comparison, POR is very busy and crowded. We liked this about CS.

We would definitely recommend CS and hope to visit again soon!

Not a fan

We were there in December. Though we had requested a room in the Cabanas section, we were given a room in the Casitas section. Though the walk to the main building and bus stop wasn't too far, the walk to the pool/hot tub was very far. In fact, we only did it once and decided it wasn't worth the effort. There were too many people in the closest quiet pool to be enjoyable. The other bus stop had us trekking across a large parking lot. I found this resort much too large to enjoy. The theme of the resort is nice, but we didn't find any of the staff to be very friendly.

Personally, I probably won't ever stay here again.
