As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We sold our 160 pt AK contract in less than 12 hours! We made the difficult decision based on our new goal - Move to WDW AREA!!!
We feel blessed and led in the right direction to do this. We also have a 100 pt AK up for sale and had an offer but it started ridiculously low so no we will wait.
Between the 2 contracts its a 20K financial turn around for us. We will not owe 10K anymore and can pay another 10K to other debt and really get the snowball rolling. We need to be debt free with credit better before we take last step of selling these houses and moving.
For those of you that don't know - we lost my dad Oct 11, 2014. I haven't been on here much. We took mom on the next 2 trips with us and had a blast. Everything fell apart last May though. My DH had taken dad's death way worse and hid some financial problems from me. Its ok we all grieve and make mistakes so we dig out together.
Two things struck me when dad passed. He was rarely happy - but he was like a kid at WDW. Thats why we bought DVC to have great places to go as family of 5 but after he lost sight in one of his eyes he wouldn't consider going back... The second thing was that a friend had given me a Joyce Meyer "Enjoy Everyday Life" tote and I walked by it and was so suddenly aware that -dad never did - and I was living life Disney trip to Disney trip instead of focusing on the joys of everyday. I knew we had to make a change.
After dad passed, I found myself looking at real estate around Disney and dreaming. DH and I had talked about someday but with dad passed - what was keeping us here except fear of change or unknown?
The real surprise was in May at OKW we were all relaxing in the room and my mom said she could live down there. Mom resists change in every form imaginable - this was big.
So then whammo hit with the financial issues and now we dig out....
Never thought I could be happy selling DVC but we are thrilled. We are closer to living the dream. Thanks for reading!
My dad is far left and my mom is in the hat! DH holding a then 3 now 9 DS with a zebra lol!
I'm so sorry for your loss firstly but I'm so pleased things now seem to be working out for you. I hope the sale of both contracts go smoothly and you're soon able to make that move.
I'm sorry for your loss and financial troubles, but congratulations are in order for your new life adventure. I hope you guys find that joy. Keep us updated!
So sorry about the loss of your dad and then the financial issues, but congrats on selling the AK contract. getting everything in order for that move to Florida.
Thanks to all of you. Ive missed being here. Had a horribly sad night. Dads cat had a massive stroke. He hasn't been the same since dad died but we tried to give him extra love. He was only 6.5 years old. At one point I told him Go Little Guy, Go to Papa - we will be ok and thats when he really started to get worse. DH told him let go its time and he passed. DS is almost inconsolable.
So sorry about yet another loss for your family. Our pets (even the adopted ones) are still family and it is hard for everyone especially when I'm sure it brings up many thoughts of your father for all of you. Sending more [emoji14]ixies & prayers for all of you.

They went online at some point 12th, we sold the 160 on the 13th and the 100 on the 20th.
The second one hurt because it was an"oh crap what have we done moment" but its needed. Its obviously being blessed and we are obviously being led in this direction.
Everything smooth so far.
These really were money makers for us. I mean we took 10 world class accommodation trips for no less than 2 weeks each time and we will only be out 2K plus dues after paying off Disney.
We plan to buy in the future because even though we want to live within 2-3 hours of WDW, we don't want to lose the bubble of being able to spend the night. Now it may make more sense to just use AP discounts but we will figure that out later.
We also have a store as some of you know and like to pick up the extra pin for people like us who live a bazillion miles away but want the pin. DVC Limited merchandise is cool. So we will see...
In the meantime this is a 20K turnaround for us 10 out of debt and 10 toward debt and a whopping $470 back in our pocket every month. These are payments we have made without thinking since 08 so serious debt snowball here!!!!
Ill keep you posted on how it all proceeds from here
