'Scuse Me; High Five!; Two Moms - August Weekend TR - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

None of our waits for busses felt like they were very long. We completely enjoyed all of our time together, every bit that we could get!
We enjoyed the bus ride to DTD and noticed as we pulled up to the bus stops that it was lightly raining. That wasn’t going to stop us though!
As soon as we got off the bus, Keegan wanted to go off somewhere and do something. Chryselle said it was ok, so off he went. Chryselle and Jacob went in search of some ice water, as Jacob got a headache on the bus ride over. I, however, was on a mission to get to guest services.
I knew the vicinity that guest services was in, and found it very easily. I was also very lucky that there was no line at all! My one-day Epcot ticket was easily upgraded to a 3-day FL Resident ticket
I walked out of guest services and found Chryselle and Jacob near a kiosk where they had gotten some ice water. I also decided to get a cup while we were there. Chryselle was texting with Keegan, who was ready for us to rejoin him
The four of us were back together in front of Goofy’s Candy Co, where Keegan showed us where he had been. He was getting a gift for Jacob! An embroidered pair of Mickey ears and a book about Walt! Jacob absolutely loved his gifts! Those boys, they’re too cute!!!
At this point, we were all STARVING, so we happily made our way to Earl of Sandwich. Chryselle and the boys had not eaten here before, and were looking forward to it. We went through line, got our food, and sat outside. We made some good pickings, but I don’t have any food pics for this short trip! Sorry!
Chryselle: Full Monty & Broccoli Cheddar Soup
Keegan: Ham & Swiss
Jacob: Caesar Salad
Me: Berry Almond Chicken Salad
Everyone enjoyed their dinner, which took a bit longer than usual because Chryselle had just had a tooth extraction the week before, and had to take lots of time to eat her food.
While she was finishing up, Keegan was off again into Once Upon a Toy, and I was making my way back to guest services.
The MDE app wasn’t showing my upgraded ticket, and I was very worried that it didn’t go through! When returned to guest services, there was a wait this time. While waiting, I logged out, and then back into the app, and it was then showing my upgraded ticket -- yet it still wasn’t letting me choose anymore days of FP+. I decided to try again when I got back to the room on my tablet and left guest services.
I walked back to Once Upon a Toy where my 3 amigos were scattered about the store. We all found each other, and Keegan purchased a set of little tiny figurines to finish up a gift card that he had.
It was time for the new-to-me adventure I had been waiting for: Disney Quest!
The obstacle: Getting across DTD crowds on a Friday night!
It was extremely crowded at this time, and already dark out. We huddled close and tried to stick together as best as possible. It was definitely a sea of people, although we were definitely going with the current, instead of against it.
As we’re moving along, this woman comes up behind us, barrelling through everyone, hunched over, moving her hands almost like they were swimming, loudly announcing, “‘Scuse me! Somewhere to be! Move please! Coming through!”
While at first we were taken aback, as we had been shoved from our huddled together position for her to spear through us. We then looked at each other and burst into laughter! While we would never do something like that to others, we took the rest of the weekend to occasionally look at each other, move our hands like they were swimming and say “‘Scuse me!” to each other.
We finally made it to DQ -- wait. I need to say something. Everytime I use the abbreviation for DQ, I always think of Dairy Queen, so I think it’s going to have to be the full Disney Quest for the duration of this Trip Report.
So, we finally made it to Disney Quest, where I quickly and easily turned in my voucher and we made our way inside. I do need to say, I’m very sad to see this closing. It’s so cool inside! I’m really glad I got to experience it though!!
Our first stop was the create your own roller coaster ride. The boys went off on their own, and I was riding alone - Chryselle didn’t want to ride. I did mine very mild since I had just eaten, but it ended up being extremely lame. I wish I had amped it up a ton!!
In all technicalities, this was Jacob’s first roller coaster. Ever. Thankfully, he loved it!!
The four of us did the Pirates adventure together. Jacob was our captain, and this was easily my favorite interactive game that we did.
Being in the vicinity, we decided to try Jungle Cruise. Chryselle recalled it being lame and “too much work” so decided not to ride with us. I will admit, it was lame. I felt like the paddles were not registering our gestures. I probably wouldn’t do it again.
Although we didn’t do much, it was getting late. The boys wanted to do the roller coaster again, so we let them go and told them to meet us at the exit. Chryselle and I went to the exit to use the restrooms, and we waited. And waited. And waited. We started to wonder just how many times they went back on the roller coaster, and went to find them. Once they were located, they claimed that the line was longer than before, but that they made their roller coaster more intense this time and had a blast!
We were all exhausted, so we shuffled our way back to Marketplace to play musical busses.
Musical busses you say? What’s that?
Well that’s what I call when you get in a looooooong line for Pop and realize that there is a bus with no line just sitting there for AoA and explain to Chryselle that it will be faster to get on the AoA bus. She was uncertain of my explanation but decided to trust me in the end!
We arrived at AoA, walked through the main building, past the pool, and crossed the generation gap (do they still call it that?). We definitely beat the Pop bus back, and we really enjoyed seeing AoA. It’s a very cool resort, and we would like to stay there sometime.
When we got back to the room, I went with the boys to fill up all our mugs. I forgot what they got, but I filled mine with coffee, so that I could have it iced in the morning.
Back at the room, we all got ready for bed, and were asleep by 12:15am.

So glad you got to enjoy Disney Quest before it closed! I think they've known it's been on the downslide for a while and not much has been added/upgraded there which is why there might be some problems with the Virtual Jungle Cruise. But it's the pirates game a blast?!
