As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Well we have decided to stay in a Moderate resort yippie. This will be my wifes and I first time going together and she is torn between CBR and POR FQ. She has never been on property to see these resorts. What should we pick and why? Thanks Yall in advance
Ok so it is just you and your wife, right? If so my vote is for POFQ. And I say this because it is a small resort with one bus stop and the boat ride to Downtown Disney is very relaxing. Of course the boat ride will also take you to POR. But I love the walk along the river. But POFQ you will never see a lot of discounts if any because it general sells out. But you never feel like there is wall to wall people and I love the New Orleans feel.
I agree about POFQ. We were there 4 years ago during Thanksgiving Week in the furthest building and it was a short walk to the food court and also to POR. I loved the Mardi Gras theming and the staff was wonderful. We only wanted mousekeeping every few days so on days we had a do not disturb sign a bag was left on our door handle with towels and other things. We went during a busy week and it was quiet. The food court is a little smaller than Riverside but it has beignets and was just fine for our needs. You can always walk over to POR if you decide you want to try a breakfast at their food court or dinner at the restaurant. We also loved the boat to DD.
I, too, vote for POFQ. It is small and compact with everything as a short walk. I love the boat to DD. They also have carriage rides (for a price) through the grounds and it just seems like a romantic resort. I have been lucky enough to snare some discount prices in the past year or so, so keep your fingers crossed. CBR is often a bit cheaper, however, if cost is a real issue.
Of all the moderates I have stayed at POFQ is the only one I would not do again. I found it very noisy and the grounds cramped llooking. The good thing was the car was a very short distance from the door.
For two adults, I would go with CBR or my favorite moderate CSR. I think both are more open and better lend themselves to a leisurely walk around the grounds.

POFQ is our favorite. We love the theming, the ferry to DTD, the easy walk to POR, where you can rent bikes, horse drawn carriage rides, boats, go fishing. We've been there more times than I can count. As others have mentioned, it's a lovely stroll along the river to POR. Since it's such a small gem of a resort, it never feels crowded and we've never experienced a lot of noise, even when we were near the pool.
CBR is really beautiful... but too spread out and we had lousy bus service there. It was quite a hike to the food court. There is an internal bus, but you have to make several stops on the way to the food court, so it was faster to get in the car and drive. We stayed for one trip, that was plenty and never went back.
POFQ is our "home" resort and usually stay there. We love it. We like the size of it and everything is close enough that you do feel like it is a huge hike to get back to your room. Which is great at the end of the night or if you forget something in your room. We have stayed there at least a dozen times and have never had an issue with noise(even with a pool facing room), but I guess if you get a rowdy bunch that can happen anywhere. We have also stayed at CBR(most recently in June) and we like that one too(not as much as POFQ) but it is a bit too big for us. Too far to walk for the food court and too many bus stops. Seems like it takes forever just to get out of the resort if you are the first stop. You really cant go wrong with either one, after all, you are at WDW. I also like the location of POFQ much better. It is 5 min to EPCOT and maybe 10 to MK, not to mention how close it is to DTD(Disney springs).
If it's just the two of you, I'd say POFQ. It's compact, nice grounds especially at night, boat ride to DTD, beignets . The downsides for us are the food court - kind of small and not a lot of variety - and the pool. The themeing of the pool doesn't do a thing for us. But the pros outweigh the cons and is great for a couple. We had our honeymoon there in fact.
Having said all that, this next trip we will be returning to CBR after two visits to POFQ. Our family has grown and CBR simply suits our needs better at this point. I do like CBR's food court and pool much more than POFQ and I love the hammocks on the beach. CBR is very much a resort where your room location can make or break your stay. It's one of the few resorts I'd consider paying for a preferred location.
