As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Another post about cleaning mugs has me thinking....
We have a split stay between the Poly and AoA (Cars Suite) booked. I'm going to need to be able to clean our mugs, medicine cups and snack containers. Does the AoA provide a small bottle of dish soap with the kitchenette? Is the bathroom sink in the Poly "normal" (meaning not like the shallow square ones at the Contemporary) so that I'll be able to wash this stuff each night?
It's an odd question to fixate on, I know, but I have to be careful how I wash the little guys drink/food containers and keep them separate from their big brother who doesn't have the same food issues.

I truthfully doubt Disney will give bottles of dish soap at the values - I think we're lucky to even get shampoo and bar soap . Where your kids have allergies, I would err on the side of caution and just bring my own that you know is safe to use. In the shower at the values, there has been hand held shower heads and that's what I use to rinse the cups really well but I don't know if all the resorts have them or if it's because we're in a wheelchair accessible room. Worst case scenario, if the sink isn't big enough, you can always fill your ice bucket with water from the bathroom and use the water that way. If you're driving or have access to a car, some sort of bigger plastic container could double as a dish tub (and still use the bathroom to fill it). Those are just ideas of what I would do.
The sinks at AofA in the suites are like a bar sink. They are several inches deep...we were able to wash out our cups and put them on a towel next to the sink. I agree that you should bring your own soap. I remember washing dishes out in the bathtub at a hotel when we were raising our kids!
I'm trying to guesstimate how much I'll need too - last trip, I had one using a sippy cup (so glad we're passed that stage), and with the mug washing and a few dishes, I went through an entire small bottle of soap. We ended up purchasing a 2nd when we refilled our water stash. We do drive, so we have easy access for stuff like that. I'm guessing I should just pack a regular bottle since we're actually taking a longer vacation this year.
I'm really glad to hear that the square "modern" sinks of the Contemporary haven't been installed elsewhere. I rarely notice stuff like that, but it was a really impractical and dumb design.

If you are driving, just pack a small bottle of dish liquid. I also am a big fan of disposable Zip lock containers for snacks. While we normally reuse them, I also like that you can toss them without a second thought. And of course, bring a box of zip lock bags.
I am usually very conscious of reusing and recycling but I figure I can throw up a little a few weeks of the year. And Disney seems to be finally getting on the recycling bandwagon (of course we had 5 years since out last trip)

The last time we stayed at Poly they had normal sinks, but rooms have been refurbed since. I think they're still normal. We are looking forward to our stay this Aug. since you have a car, I'd pack my own cleaning stuff. For snacks we pack zip lock baggies too. I love those candied pecans & almonds and they get real hard in the paper wrap they come in. So when I get back to the room I transfer them into zip locks.
The only time I've gotten the dish soap was when I was staying in a DVC villa (studio as well as 1 BR. AoA might have it as there is a kitchenette but I would bring my own if I was you just to be sure.
Ft Wilderness has a great grocery style store (and of course awesome Camping Mickey souvenirs). You would be able to replenish dish soap, etc.. there.
When we stayed in the AoA Family Suite, there was a small portion of dishsoap. But I never expect it, and always take my own. BTW, Dawn makes a foamy pump style in a smaller container which I keep in the downstairs handy to the yard, garage, etc..
Oh, to hark back to the days staying at the Cabins and the housekeeper would wash all my dishes. But time marches on...
