Running with the Relatives TR - February 19-25, 2015 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh I complete agree! By the time I get home from work, eat dinner, feed Charlotte, clean up, get everything ready for the next day, its time for bed! Its crazy! I can't imagine how people do it with multiple children doing a million activities! I guess those times will be here before I know it though!
Somedays I balance 3 little ones all 3 & under. And it is usually every Friday and sometimes more often. It is brutal. Guess that is one reason JB only has half-brothers. Lol
I love your shirts! I'm all about the matchy-matchy so they're right up my alley.
You did great on the run! I'm doing my first official 5k next weekend and I'm terrified!
Great job!!!! I'm with the others, beating your time by 1 minute is great and a new PR for you! You should be very proud!!! I ran this race too and had such a great time. I hope to run it again in the future. I agree it is surreal to be up at that crazy hour and have so much fun company all around at the hotel and then especially once you arrive at the race. Lots of happy people all around. I just love it!
I met up with Monica and Sean at 11:20, while Mike stayed back to rest a little bit. We got a bus right away to DHS, and met up with our group by Fairfax Faire a little before 12. Some of them had eaten already. They had only ridden Rock 'N Roller Coaster, as it took them a while to get to DHS after the finish line. The rest of us ate, and then we all went to ride Tower of Terror. The FP was about 15 minutes long because the ride had been down for a while earlier in the day. Because of this, we got an email telling us we had an extra FP to use at a list of attractions. We all rode the Great Movie Ride at 1:10 (Kenny waited with Charlotte instead), and then we all used our FP for Toy Story Midway Mania at 1:45. Mom headed back to the POP and we went to the Frozen Sing A Long with Kenny's mom, dad, and sister. We had a FP for this later in the day, but we wanted to do it now so we used the 'bonus' one we were given earlier from TOT. We saw the 2:45 show, and then walked right into the Muppets. I really enjoyed the Frozen Sing-A-Long. Not only did I love the music, but the comedy provided by the 'Citizens of Arendale' was cute as well. We showed Kenny's dad the Singin' in the Rain umbrella (but the water was off so it wasn't quite as fun). Kenny, Charlotte, and I left and headed back to the POP around 4, getting a Mickey pretzel to share on the way out. We saw a POP bus pulling up so we ran for it (just what my legs needed!) Crowley's stayed and saw Lights, Motor, Action! and then used our Baby Swap passes from earlier to ride RNR and TOT.
We found mom and dad by the pool when we got back, so we sat near the pool bar and had a drink and relaxed. We went back to the room quickly, then met Kenny's parents at the bus stop to head to DTD. I think it was around 5:30 or 6:00. Mom and Dad went to the House of Blues to eat, while we headed to Earl of Sandwich. The line was about 25 minutes long, which was perfect for me to feed and change Charlotte while the rest of the group waiting in line. We walked across the new bridge and stopped in the Lego store for a few minutes before heading into the World of Disney store. We couldn't decide on anything for Charlotte, but I got myself a pair of sequin Minnie ears. I stopped in the Pin Traders shop, but I couldn't find a POP Century pin that I liked. There seeme to be only one style, and while I don't love it I guess I will need to buy it next time, as it was the only POP one I've seen. We walked through the new Co-Op, then got an ornament at the Christmas Store, and a rice krispie treat at Goofy's Candy Co. We got a bus back at 9:40 and were back in 15 minutes. I fed Charlotte (who had been asleep for a while) and then put her back to bed. A funny parenting moment... the rooms at the Pop are quite small, but it is nice that they still have the curtain between the bed area and the sink area. After Charlotte went to bed, we sat on the floor and shared our rice krispie treat so that we could pull the curtain to try and stay quiet and not make it too bright. LOL it was a funny sight - a whole hotel room and we were stuck in one tiny space. After getting ready for the next day, I was in bed by 10:45 pm.
Here are some pictures from today...
After many attempts of a selfie with Charlotte, here's the best one...
Charlotte was very amused playing with plastic spoons. My sister-in-law called them her 'magic wands' and we always had a supply of them with us in case she needed something to occupy herself!
