As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm am so excited! I booked for Feb 2016 on the Disney Magic with all my kids! I have been leery of taking a cruise because I am prone to motion sickness, but it looks too good and has been calling me too long!! So I jumped and booked it!

I was nervous about cruising also due to motion sickness, so we did a test cruise, just a 4 day with Carnival. I took Ginger tablets, but at no point was I ever even queasy. You're gonna have a great time.
Congratulations!! I, too, have serious motion sickness, especially on boats. I have never had an issue while cruising, and that includes times when some people have been bothered. The ships really are quite stable.
This makes me feel a lot better and I also consider this my 'test' cruise lol.. I am definitely going to be well stocked with medicine, but hope it wont happen at all.

You will love it and possibly, like us, struggle which to choose next. i held out for a long time to do a cruise because of DH and his severe motion sickness. We packed everything from ginger tabs & gum to a scopolamine patch (that was pricey) He wore sea bands and NEVER had an issue! One night it was choppy and I thought DS fell out of bed but it was a lounge chair on the deck above, but DH was never bothered. Just go prepared for it and you will be fine. HAVE AN AMAZING TIME!!
I am going to talk with my doc about it when its time...in the past all the standard options haven't worked for me, but its been a long time since I've been on a boat, etc. that would make me sick because I use the avoidance technique
In 20 or so years there must have been some advances in this area right ? Lolol

An ocean liner in no way compares to any smaller vessel in movement. You should be more than fine, but do go prepared for the worst and expect the best.
What great news!! We finished our first cruise last Saturday. It's been a week and I'm still digesting our experience. I will say this, find out as much information as you can about cruising with Disney, ask questions and keep asking them till you're within a week of sailing, too much knowledge is always a good thing! You will have a wonderful time, Disney does it right! I've talked with friends who have cruised with other lines and there's no comparison with the service you get with Disney. I thought Disney was a little pricey at first but the old adage, 'you get what you pay for' is so true. If I had the budget I'd do a Disney cruise every year. If I could recommend a few things it would be, arrive the day before, stay at the Hyatt, if you can, or another hotel near the airport, take Disney transportation, if possible do the on-line check-in when you're leaving the ship, you sail through customs and you won't see your luggage till you arrive home at the airport, and enjoy the food, it's delicious and you're on vacation!!!
Again, absorb as much information as you can!

Congratulations. I would not worry too much about motion sickness. My wife and I have serious motion sickness (neither of us could ride a merry-go-round with our children) We have been on 6 Disney cruises and have not had an issue. My wife has used a Scopolamine patch and I have taken Bonine in the past but honestly I have more issues with the airplane and shuttle rides than the cruise. The only time I ever noticed motion was when I looked out a portal and saw water moving in the opposite direction. Fortunately for us neither of our children have any issues. You will have a wonderful time on your cruise.

My husband and I are not prone to motion sickness, but I went on our first cruise fully stocked! Just in case. All the meds and seabands. We never had an issue. Even on our second cruise when it was a little choppy, we were fine.
I, too, suffer from severe sea sickness when on small - medium vessels. In all honesty, if my parents hadn't paid for our trip, I would never have booked a cruise vacation for my own family. I thought, more than a couple times, about bailing out, but that would have disappointed 6 other people. I was seriously worried that our 7 night vacation would consist of me in the stateroom eating saltines while everyone else had the time of their lives. I brought sea bands, dramamine (which I didn't want to take because I have awful side effects), an aromatherapy tube, and ginger tea along with us. On the very first night, I sniffed the aromatherapy tube a couple times, but I was absolutely fine. This year's cruise was in very choppy waters with huge swells, even some cast members were sick. I didn't feel "tip-top" on one particularly rough day, but even then, it didn't slow me down a whole lot. I wasn't fully up to the tequila & margarita tasting that my sister and I registered for, but I took a tiny taste of everything. It was a nice opportunity to lie still at the pool.
