As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So I finally broke down and bought MM today for our trip next week. I was trying to resist because I am cheap, but I finally caved. When I ordered it online, it made me pick one person in the party that would be using it. I tried to see if it would let me check everyone, but it wouldn't. So I just checked my husbands name. Will that mean it will only be loaded on his magic band or will it automatically be put on all of ours?
Also, it said I have to pick it up at will call. What does this entail? Is it a card like the old photopass or a voucher? Do I have to show it to all the photographers? I thought they just loaded it on like they do the tickets. Sorry I am clueless, I didn't research it much because I didn't think I was going to buy it.
I don't know about the picking up and will call aspect - I have a package it's part of - but in regards to picking a person, only your husband will be able to view/edit/download the prints. As long as you have all the MB associated with his account, they all should show up (does he have an account or is it in your name?)
Don't worry Phoebe, everyone in your party can use Memory Maker. It'll be linked to your PhotoPass account, not to any individual, so any pics scanned by any MagicBands that are linked to your PhotoPass account will be included in your Memory Maker download, and anyone whose MagicBand is linked to your PhotoPass account will be able to scan their MagicBand when they have a pic taken at one of the special dining venues. Also, the special ride photos that are included with a Memory Maker purchase no longer require you to scan your MagicBand after the ride - the equipment in those rides was recently updated, and they read your MagicBand as you go through the ride, and if you've bought Memory Maker, the ride photo is automatically added to your PhotoPass account!
Your Memory Maker purchase should have been linked to your PhotoPass account automatically, if you purchased it while logged into your MyDisneyExperience account. To check this, log into your MDX account, scroll down slightly on the main window till you see the ever-present advertisement for Memory Maker, and click the link that says "Link it to your account." If it's linked, it should show up. If it doesn't, you can enter the confirmation number from your Memory Maker purchase.
If you have any difficulty linking your Memory Maker purchase to your PhotoPass account, you can contact PhotoPass tech support, and they'll fix it up for you:

Hours: Mon - Sat
9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. EST
I'm still a little confused, I purchased MM and I have all of my family and friends linked to me in MDE. Will any pictures they take even when they are not with me be added to my account? What is a Photopass account and do I have to link them separately to that account?

Anyone who is in your Friends and Family list in your My Disney Experience account can scan their Magic Bands at a PhotoPass photographer, and those pics will be linked to your account and included in your Memory Maker download.
PhotoPass is the name of the overall photography system. Memory Maker is the name of a single product availabe from the Photo Pass system. All of the photographers at WDW are PhotoPass photographers.
PhotoPass accounts are separate from your MDX account, but you have one created for you by default when you create your MDX account. You can get to your PhotoPass account by clicking the PhotoPass link in the main menu of your MDX account. This is where you will go to view your pics, add borders to them, and download them when you're ready. It looks like part of the MDX system, but it's actually a separate system, because PhotoPass is managed by an outside vendor, much like the DME bus service is operated by Mears.
You can go to your PhotoPass account nrw if you wish, and take a look at the other product, they offer besides Memory Maker. You won't be able to buy anything yet, because you don't have any pics in your account, but you'll get an idea of how the site works. And you should be able to see your Memory Maker linked to your account.
I wrote to the Photopass support people to ask about Memory maker, because I was not clear on the whole "MM is assigned to one person but can others in my party go off alone and even on the rides with photos and have their pictures as part of my MM" thing...
This is the reply I got from Disney ("Companion" subbed for sister's name by me):
You may link the Memory Maker to yourself and still have access to all Companion's ride photos. Even if you split up as long as you are Friends and Family in MyDisneyExperience.com and you are sharing photos between your accounts you will have the ability to download all Companion's ride photos as well as any other photos associated with her Magic Band. The ride photos will automatically show up, if for any reason she does need to stop at the counter to add a ride photo to her Magic Band they will still show on your account to download as long as you are both sharing your photos between the accounts.
To ensure you are sharing your photos between your accounts please, sign in to your account on MyDisneyExperience.com. On the top right hand side of the page, you should see a MyDisneyExperience dropdown menu. Select the My Family & Friends option.
Once in the My Family & Friends page, select the friend you would like to share your Disney PhotoPass with and click the Edit button to the right of his/her name.
On the next page, check the option that says Share PhotoPass Photos. Click Done and your Family or Friend will be allowed to view your photos.
Your Family or Friend will have to complete the same process on his/her account. Once both people check the Share PhotoPass Photos option, both parties can view all of the Disney PhotoPass photos located on both accounts.
As for the "Will call"; I got that same option (mailing to Canada was $25 ?!!#!!). I am not sure what exactly one has to pick up, as that is never explained anywhere. MM automatically linked to MDE as I was logged into MDE when I bought it.
