As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! In the past when we preordered photo pass, we had to stop by Guest Relations to pick up our packet. Since it is linked to our Magic Bands, is it automatically activated when we first go into a park?
I just called them about that. We are there Monday and it still isn't showing up on MDX. They said when I check in to my hotel they will scan my magic band and it will be activated.

That was the way it worked when you pre-ordered the old PhotoPass + product, which is similar to Memory Maker but not exactly the same.
According to the info I got from Disney's online chat helper, if you have received your Memory Maker number and added it to your PhotoPass account, you won't need to go to Guest Relations at one of the camera centers. You can just go to a park and start scanning pics on your Magic bands.
Of course, if Memory Maker is not showing up in your PhotoPass account after you've entered the number, then you might still need to visit one of the camera centers to get it straightened out.
The most important thing is to make sure that you pre-order Memory Maker at least three days before your arrival date, because any pics taken within three days of your order will not appear in your Memory Maker download.

So Will, I have a confirmation number for MM and when I click on the Photopass link, it asks me to add a Photopass card or a Magic Band number. I don't have either of these at the moment. Is there someplace I'm not seeing to put my confirmation number in?
The confirmation number I see on the Memory Maker section of MDE is the same number as my resort confirmation number. Is this normal? It seems strange to me. I prefer talking to a person, rather than doing things on the computer. Can anyone give me the phone number to call? Thank you.

There are several different ways to get to the page where you input your Memory Maker number.
Second, you can log into your MDX account. Go to the opening page and scroll down till you see the "Memory Maker Gets Everyone in the Picture" box. There is a link there which will take you to the same page I linked above.
Third, you can go to MyDisneyPhotoPass.com and log in with your MDX user name and password. On the home page of your account, there should be four links in big square boxes:
1) Add PhotoPass Card
2) Link Annual Pass
3) Link MagicBand
4) Link Memory Maker
Option 4 will take you to the same place as the link I posted above.
Hopefully one of these options will get you to the entry page.

If you bought Memory Maker as part of a WDW resort package, then yes, I believe that's normal. The page I linked above for Darlene has a notice on it that reads:
Quote:
Enter your Memory Maker ID or Ticket Order Number.
If you purchased Memory Maker as part of a vacation package, link it to your account along with your package reservation. Link package.
The link takes you to the regular page on MDX where you link a reservation number to your MDX account. So it seems that if your Memory Maker was bought as part of a package, the confirmation number is the same as your package confirmation number.
Hopefully one of these options will get you to the entry page.
Me + electronics = something will go wrong. When I go to Disneyworld.com I can see my rooms, my dining, my FP and my MM all listed. When I click on the Photopass link under MM, it takes me to that screen with the four boxes but when I click "link MM," it tells me I have an invalid number (as do the ways you told me to get there Will). And when you guys are talking MDE - which are you talking about - the website or the mobile version? My mobile MDE app does not show memory maker anywhere for me. Then, if that's not confusing enough (for me, it's too confusing ) when I go to the regular Photopass site, it's shows me I have 22 photos available - and all of them are "bonus" ones from last summer. There's no where that I can find to show that I should have a credit like it use to in the past. There's not even a place to select the products that could be bought (mousepads, cups, etc). Is it just me or is all the technology stuff just changing so quickly that I can't keep up?

Personally, I never use the mobile MDX app for anything more than checking up on stuff while in the parks. It's too glitchy. I use the full version of the MDX web site to do everything. I am entirely PC, no Mac, but I use two different browsers - at home I use Firefox (always the latest version) and at work I use IE11. I've tried to get into MDX and PhotoPass using several browsers on my Samsung Android tablet, and none of them give me glitch-free access.
Whenever I troubleshoot stuff like this, I have to begin with a laundry list of questions, so here goes, and maybe, just maybe, I can figure this out for you:
1) Are you logging in via PC, Mac, Android app, or iOS app?
2) What browser are you using?
3) What version of the browser are you using?
4) Do you have the browser window maximized to fill the screen?
5) Have you checked for scroll bars to see if maybe the page is running off the screen and you're missing part of it?
6) Do you currently have more than one WDW reservation and/or Memory Maker reservation?
7) Do you have more than one MDX or PhotoPass account?
That's about all I can think of at the moment. The problem could be one (or more) of those issues, or something entirely different.
Whenever I troubleshoot stuff like this, I have to begin with a laundry list of questions, so here goes, and maybe, just maybe, I can figure this out for you:
1) Are you logging in via PC, Mac, Android app, or iOS app? I've tried both but I'm mainly using my PC - which is now running Windows 7
2) What browser are you using? I still use IE
3) What version of the browser are you using? IE11
4) Do you have the browser window maximized to fill the screen? Yes. It strains my eyes too much to have windows only open and not maximized (yeah, sorry TMI )
5) Have you checked for scroll bars to see if maybe the page is running off the screen and you're missing part of it? I went back and checked, no scroll bars on the bottom of the screen. Just the typical one on the side of the screen.
6) Do you currently have more than one WDW reservation and/or Memory Maker reservation? I do have two reservations but all the MM "privileges" are assigned to me - could this be the problem?
7) Do you have more than one MDX or PhotoPass account? Lenny does have his own account (it was the only way I could get his info to do FP and dining reservations, etc) so I guess technically we could have two Photopass accounts but he's never signed in there. I'm the one who handles all the photos so I just use my email that matches all my other Disney sites.
Could that be part of the problem? Or could it be that both sites (mobile and Disneyworld.com) are glitchy? I ask because today I clicked on the "view and download" link listed with my MM number and at first I got a screen asking where my photos were taken. I click on WDW (which is where we'll be) then it asks me to sign in. When I do that, the screen with the four boxes comes up again.
Am I driving myself crazy for nothing? It's showing on both my acoount and Lenny's when I click on the My Disney Experience through Disneyworld.com. I could see if when I tried to link it, it told me it was already linked to another account but it's telling me it's an invalid number. I really don't want to get there and find out any and all photos that we've had taken on that first day are nowhere to be seen. Not to mention I really don't want to spend time at a counter trying to figure it out. Then there's the flip side that I get there, all my pictures are present and accounted for but I get home and it tells me to pay again. Although it does bring up the question, is it not letting me link it because today is my final payment date (even though I paid it off three weeks ago)? You know all this new technology doesn't like me Will so any help would be greatly appreciated. When it comes down to it, if you can't troubleshoot it (because the two accounts are messing it up) I'll have Lenny call and get it straightened out as technology seems to agree with him

PhotoPass asks me to re-enter my credentials every time I use the link from MDX. I think it's done that way on purpose, to make sure that people on your F&F list can't sneak into your PhotoPass account, or something like that.

Sometimes, poorly coded software gives badly worded, unclear error messages. It's possible that "Invalid number" is a catch-all for any MM that has a problem. It might also be the message you get when you try to enter a number that's already been entered.
I like these classic error messages:
It could also be that you entered the number incorrectly. Even a single character being out of place might have meant that you entered someone else's number from a couple of months ago that's already been used. See if it will let you delete the number, then re-enter it.

Don't worry, that won't happen! As long as you scan your MagicBand when a photo is snapped, that photo will be linked to your PhotoPass account and not lost. This Memory Maker snafu is only going to affect the one product, not the whole system.

Even if that does happen, a call to PhotoPass customer support will clear it up. You paid for it, and both you and Disney have a record proving you paid for it, so if the system doesn't want to let you download, the worst case scenario I can think of is that they may have to issue you a clean new Memory Maker code.

I seriously doubt that this has anything to do with the financial part.
However, it might have something to do with the dual MDX accounts. If you've been following this thread:
You'll see that another Passporter has been having major issues because Disney made her package reservation, which includes a Memory Maker purchase, in her husband's name instead of hers. But since her husband has no MDX or PhotoPass account, she can't gain access to the res.
If Disney put the res in Lenny's name instead of yours, it may be telling you that the number is invalid because it's already linked to Lenny's MDX account. Or, and here's the tricky part, it may be linked to a 'ghost' account of a phantom Lenny, and the system may not realize that YOUR Lenny is actually THE Lenny in whose name the res was mistakenly made.
First thing to do is go into Lenny's PhotoPass account - use his MDX credentials to log in - and see what the Memory Maker number says. If it works properly, then my guess is that the res was made in Lenny's name instead of yours. If it still says "invalid number", then it's time to let Lenny call PhotoPass support and try to work this out.
No matter what's going on here, though, don't worry about your pics. They will all be safe and sound in the PhotoPass system. We just have to make sure you can get them out of there when the time comes.

You can't fault Disney for that then. I just thought it was something I was doing. I'm glad to hear it's not.

Okay - that's something I was wondering about. If the number could already be linked but the message led me to believe it's not. So there's still the possibility it could be. As for entering incorrectly, I know it's possible but I was trying to be very careful in entering what I wrote down after the first few failed attempts - and I verified several times the number on my MDE was the same one I wrote down. So that's at least one thing we can knock off the list.

That's a relief and one less thing to worry about is a good thing.

Okay, fingers crossed that it doesn't - and if it does, I know what I'll do - I'll figure it out at DHS when Abby and Lenny ride Star Tours (I can't ride it anymore so I might as well do something useful with my time )

Okay, that sounds reasonable. And since I don't wait until the last minute to do things, if it takes a day or two to get it straightened out, I'll still have plenty of time before my photos expire.

It was worth a shot mentioning my payment date. Glad to know that shouldn't have affected it.
I hadn't seen that thread, so thank you for putting a link to it - I went and read it. Then I went to Lenny's account. The number is the same on mine as it is his so at least that matches. I then went to the Photopass site and used his log in stuff, put in the number and it still says invalid . Your explanation of a "ghost" account makes a lot of sense so I probably will have to call. At least I know the pictures will be fine though. It's just the rest that will have to be sorted out. And as I said, I won't wait until the last minute to get working on it so it should leave plenty of time to get it fixed and get my pictures before they go poof out of my account.
Just saw this thread and I received a MM card in the mail and it had directions with it. I haven't read them yet but will go and read them and see if that might help.
