As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've booked a Cape May Character Breakfast as our one and only TS meal and only Character experience. It will be myself and my DS6. I'm now having second thoughts in favor of Ohana.
Have you been to both of these? If so, could you compare them?
It looks like the food is about the same. I don't do scrambled eggs or sugar, so I'll be eating mostly meats, non-sweet breads, fruit, and waffles (hopefully they aren't too sweet without syrup). DS will eat or not. I don't think the food at either will be a deal breaker.
We don't care about Lilo and Stitch too much, but both of us love the original Disney crew. Goofy is a fave, but not a deal-breaker.
The thing about Ohana that is attracting me is the parade for little ones. Doesn't look like Cape May does any organized activity for kids, just at-table interaction. Am I right?
Seeing as this will be our only TS experience, which offers more MAGIC potential?
I would do Cape May based on your character preference and food preferences, more options on the buffet! Both meals are only so-so to me based on my last experiences, but previously I have had great breakfasts at Cape May!
My family has done both. We loved each. The food is very comparable.
The characters are different. O'Hana has Lilo and Stitch as well as Mickey, Pluto, and some others.
The atmospheres are VERY different. Cape May is much more subdued (but not boring). While O'Hana is loud and fast paced.
O'Hana has organized dancing around the restaurant with the characters. And table meets.
While Cape May did only at the table meetings.
I would stick with Cape May. It's a buffet where you get up and choose what you want to eat. The character interaction is very good. Ohana is a family style meal with eggs being one of the main parts of the meal. They do have Mickey waffles, but they are not on the family style plate that is served. Servers come around and hand them out. It's been a while since I've been to Ohana, but I remember having to hunt down a server for those waffles. I wasn't too fond of that. I think you're better served at Cape May.
I don't do scrambled eggs or sugar, so I'll be eating mostly meats, non-sweet breads, fruit, and waffles (hopefully they aren't too sweet without syrup).
Based on this, I would go for Cape May because it's a buffet - you pick what you want and how much. Ohana is family style and last time we were there, it was eggs, home fries (potatoes) and bacon (I believe, it could have been sausage though) so there's really not a lot of meat for you. I agree with the waffles too. It's like they hoard them and even if you get a server to give them to you (we've been there and not gotten a single waffle before) you might get two when you ask for more. The one time (out of three) that we got the waffles, they were only giving them out one at a time
Here are the menus from Allears.net so you can compare them
Oh man....This is hard. See, the food isn't going to be the main thing for me. There's a Waffle House right next to our off-site if that's what I really care about...! So the organized dancing is appealing.... That said, I don't want to have to threaten to cut somebody to get a waffle...!
How much time is devoted to the organized dancing stuff at Ohana?

We've been to both and prefer Cape May Cafe. Last time we were sitting forever after our meal was done and still hadn't had a visit from Mickey. Finally had to have a wait person snag him for us on our way out as we were bored to death waiting for him to come to our table. We will be doing Cape May Cafe again this trip.
We've have done both as well. Good food at both but I liked the character interaction a little better at Cape May Buffet plus the characters are in their swim/beachwear which is vety cute. Goofy is at CM and not at Ohana and when we did O'hana they do the little parade but it's really just a walk around the restaurant and not too much of a big thing. Plus Cape May us a buffet and O'hana is family style so you can pick and choose a little more there. My DD(5) can be a picky eater when she wants to be so she likes the options at CM from anything from eggs to cereal to yogurt or fruit.

Thanks everyone for their replies. I would have stuck with CM, EXCEPT....
DH has decided to come at the end of our trip to do some resort-hopping. This caused me to change my whole daily plan. The day I had planned CM is now a park day, and the next day, a no park day, is a DH day. He simply would not enjoying coming along. Our other no park day is only day 2 in the WDW area, and it seemed like too much. So....I've decided to do Crystal Palace on our "relaxed" Day 2 at MK. I had planned to return to our off-site at 1:30 for a rest, now I've booked ADRs for lunch at CP for 2:05. This is actually the only Character meal I've ever been to, when I was 21. It was nice then and I know I will like it now. I love the white on glass atmosphere of this place. I'm going to keep it a secret from DS till it's lunch time.
