As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Here is my very first Pre-Trip report. So please feel free to point out things and make suggestions as anything can change except for ADR's and our FP's.
Monday 5/12 - Should land in Orlando around 11:20 (from Providence, RI). Will get on Magical Express to POFQ. Hopefully our room will be ready but if not we will head for the docks and catch the boat to Downtown Disney. Having Lunch at Earl of Sandwich. We will spend most of the day there. Depending on whether we could get into our room before we headed to Downtown Disney will depend on whether or not we will have dinner there or at POR for the pasta. After that we will chill having a couple of drinks at either POR or POFQ bar.
Tuesday 5/13 - MK..will something quick to eat so that we can catch the bus to MK to see the opening so we need to be there by 8:30 as MK opens at 9. We are not sure where we will have lunch but it will either be Casey's Corner, Ray's Starlight or Tortuga Tavern. After that we are running to Seven Dwarfs (hopefully it will be open). Have FP's for Peter Pan at 10:45, Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Pirates of the Caribbean at 4:25 (remember can't do any roller coaster FP's as my girlfriend don't do them). Will also have a Dole Whip at some point from Aloha Island. The other must do rides are Haunted Mansion;Liberty Square Riverboat; It's a Small world; Carousel of Progress, Monsters Inc and the Disney World Railroad. Well watch the Flag Retreat at 5:30 pm. Have ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern for 6:20. And Wishes fireworks of course. MK closes at 11 pm so hopefully we can do all that we want but if not we will be back MK Sunday.
Wednesday 5/14 - MK/Epcot - Breakfast will be on the run as we have to catch an early bus to MK as we have Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour. After the tour we will get on the monorail for Epcot. We will have lunch at Electric Umbrella. We have FP's for Spaceship Earth at 12:35 pm; Soarin @ 4:25 pm and Living in the Land @5:30 pm. We have ADR at Garden Grill for 6:30 pm (this is a first for us). And walk around the World. And we will see IllumNations.
Thursday 5/15 - AK/Epcot - We will have breakfast at the resort and head out to AK. WE have FP's for Kilimanjaro Safaris @ 9:05 am; Dinosaur @ 10:30 am and It's Tough to be a Bug @ 12:45pm. We will have lunch at either Flame Tree Barbecue, Rainforest Cafe, Yak and Yeti. We want to be back at Epcot by 3 pm. We have ADR at Coral Reef for 6:20 pm. So we will just do what we feel like doing. Would like to get a FP's for either Test Track or Soarin but seeing we are getting to Epcot before 3 it will be doubtful.
Friday 5/16 - This is our 'off' day. We will have breakfast at the resort. Around lunchtime the plan is to get to Boardwalk Bakery...not sure the best way to get there yet but I guess we will figure it out. We have ADR at California Grill for 7:30 pm. Here we will be able to see the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes Fireworks..we felt that was a great way to end our day.
Saturday 5/17 - Breakfast at the resort. Today we are off to Disney Hollywood. We have FP's for The Great Movie Ride @ 9:05 am; Toy Story @ 1:10 pm and Star Tours @ 4:00 pm. We will have lunch at either ABC Commissary; Backlot Express or All-American Cafe. The other rides we will try to do are Muppet Vision 3-D, The Magic of Animation (which will be a must..as we both want to try our hand at drawing), Beauty and the Beast Live show and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Now this is our only day here and it is the first weekend of Star War weekends so I don't know how much we will actually get to do. WE have ADR at Hollywood 7 Vine for 6:00 pm which includes Fantasmic.
Sunday 5/18 - Epcot/MK. Breakfast will be at our resort. We head out to Epcot and do whatever we can and use all our snacks at the Flower & Garden Festival. We head to MK at 2:30 pm and the park closes at 1:00 am. We have FP's at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh @ 3:30 pm; Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid @ 6:05 pm and Haunted Mansion @ 9:05 pm. We have ADR at BOG (yahooooooo) for 7:10 pm. We will ride whatever rides we can get on at both parks.
Monday 5/19 - We say goodbye to our favorite place. But our flight isn't until 3:15 pm so am not sure what time MDX will want us for pickup but hopefully we can have a couple of hours at Downtown Disney.
Plans look great! I'd head to Magic of Disney Animation early, it's a pretty small room that accommodates the class and the park will be crowded with SWW it might get really backed up late in the day!
