As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). DD is a runner and would like to do the CC 5K. I have a couple of questions:
What time does it typical start (we'll be cruising in March)
Is there any breakfast on CC afterwards or do you have to reboard the ship?
Do participants get medals? tee shirts??
It's for "fun" but are the times "chipped"?
Are there spectator points along the way?
There are no "spectator points" per se, but when the 5 of us did it in Aug of 2012 (yes it was stupidly hot), the route was spectator friendly the entire route. I think the best place to have watched would have been from the defunct airstrip.
There were no chip times, so she should wear her watch.
There are bibs and medals. T-shirts were available for purchase on the island only.
No breakfast on CC, but it wasn't long until Cookie's opened for business.
And I'm sorry, I can't remember the exact time of the start, but I do know we met in one of the lounges, where we got our bibs and signed the inevitable waiver. We were then led off of the ship by a couple of very friendly CM's and walked to the start which was near the bike rental shop. I remember getting quite warm and wishing I had brought a water bottle with me. There were several water stops along the course, but a bottle would have been a lot better in the heat.
Another thing to mention is that there is an age limit for a minor running alone. Of course I can't remember what that limit is, but I'm sure someone else on the boards can tell us!
I hope she enjoys it!
They generally start really early, before the kids clubs on the island even open, because that's a question that's asked a lot. They try to beat the heat so the 5K starts right away.

We ran it in March of 2013. It started at around 9, we met in one of the clubs at 8:30. The race is not times and we bought our tshirts.
After the race, I retuned to the ship to change into beach attire and grabbed some fruit. We had the BBQ shortly after.
Anyone know if there are Cruiseline photographers along the way? if I run with my son I'd love to have official pics of us doing the run together. Thx in advance!!

I don't believe there are photographers along the route, but I suppose it's possible.
I just wanted to point out that depending on your son's age, they've gotten strict with the lower-limit age this winter, on some cruises more so than others. Expect they could be strict about nobody under age 12 participating. In the past, kids were allowed to run "unofficially" and they may (or may not) have gotten certificate and medal delivered to the stateroom later; but they could be denied participation entirely now. Enforcement of that rule does seem to vary, but my understanding it's due to RunDisney now involved.

I have run this race twice. It is a lot of fun! There are no photographers along the course.
I also did the Castaway Cay 5 k about a month ago. You get a numbered bib, but its not chipped/timed. They had a digital clock at the start/finish, which was not working the time I went. They give out plastic Mickey shaped medals. I believe it started at 10am, but could have been earlier. There was quite a large group that participated. There was no photographers, which is sort of a surprise. There were some water stations along the way.
I did not know there were CC 5k shirts for sale the first time I ran this. It wasn't until I saw someone wearing one at a runDisney race that I became aware of them. I was able to easily get one last May. I went to the store right next to the finish first thing after completing the race.
