As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Anyone else having fits with My Disney Experience and DVC site...
DVC site down right now (9 pm central??) and MY Disney says it cant do magic bands and it wont go to photopass plus and IM FREAKING OUT AND RUNNING OUT OF TIME!!

Just call and get a CM to assist you with whatever you need done and eliminate the frustration is my suggestion.
MDE often acts like a toddler having a "NO! NO! NO!" fit. You never know how either will react to what you'd like them to do.
So they are letting you do photopass plus by phone? Thats the immediate issue....
Just now able to do magic band customization...maybe enough people going to bed lol

Maybe I misunderstood. Did you mean that the options for FP+ and MB's haven't yet shown up on your MDE? I thought you meant you simply couldn't get MDE to accept your input.
But if both are still grayed out, neither is available to you just yet. Some people have reported here that they were very close to their trip dates before either became available.
We could choose FP's at just under 60 days out but, as it turned out, a few days before we got the go-ahead on the bands. I said to DH to call and ask why we had FP+ choices but no MB's yet. The CM said that the system is still a "work-in-progress" and keep checking daily.
That's all you can do if you simply haven't gotten either option yet. Really sorry if I gave you false hope.

No you are fine - we got the invitation in the mail so I knew we could but we are 20 days away and I want it done so we get the stuff in time. Web site works one second and literally doesnt work the next....Making ressies had become so much easier I had hoped more bugs were worked out of the system. Able to customize bands so that is a relief now photo pass plus..... and tomorrow FP+
Yeah, since you just can't get MDE to do what it should, try another time or call and ask if the CM can set it up for you. They're all too accustomed to MDE pitching hissy fits, I'm sure.
It is frustrating. We eventually got everything in place. But it sure did seem like MDE was messing with us every so often.
Now, I must NOT think that our Magic Bands may not work as they should. Must not think that...must not think that, etc. Nope, can't happen.

It may just be too much traffic on the website. Now that these Magic Bands are going out to almost everyone there are lots of people online planning their FP for the busy holiday season. At the same time we all know they keep running updates, which can cause additional problems. You might try logging into MDE at a different time of the day to see if you still have these problems. Personally, I have been on the site frequently the past few weeks planning our upcoming trips and have not had problems during the day...I have had a few issues in the evenings though.

yeah, it's driving me crazy! I only manage to book one day of fastpasses before I give up on the site for another day!
Cheryl, will they mail you your wristbands? CM thought I had to wait until we get there because we're outside U.S. oh, and she also said that everyone is getting them now.
We're still grayed out on the Magic Bands (29 days from trip) and I just spent an exhausting half an hour trying to schedule FP+ for two days. It would take me through the steps and then tell me one of the three of us was not eligible! I went back and checked to be sure I was managing all of us (yes), and tried again. Went through for the first day. Second day: my husband was deemed not eligible. Redid it, and I was now the not eligible person. Third time it was back to my husband, so I just accepted them for my son and myself, since my husband would rather be taking pictures in MK than riding anyway. Sigh. Why does it have to be so cranky and hard? Sucks all the joy out of it.

No.... just keep hitting the back button and going forward until it says they are confirmed IT WILL WORK
It took me hours the other night but if you hit back then try again you will get it!
MK is the worst of them all BTW for doing it
Go back and edit your selections unless its Epcot and you got both TT and Soarin on same day - that policy changed today
And yes it sucks the joy out of it
