Disney's All-Star Music Resort (Disney Value Resort) Reviews and Ratings - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We (DH, DS7 at the time, & I) stayed in the Family Suites Sept of 07. We really liked them. The room was great with lots of space for just the 3 of us. The 2 bathrooms were the best!!! At night when we returned from the parks tired & sweaty DH & DS went to 1 bathroom & I went to the other to shower. The food court was adequate and had foods we liked. We usually only ate breakfast there. The buses were fine also. We are going back in Dec 09 and staying there again.
We enjoyed our stay at ASMusic. We aren't at the resort much, but we loved the pools. We had our car so I can't comment on Disney transportation from there. It was very affordable and the theming was really cute. It is a nice stay when on a tighter budget.
I stayed at ASM on my third trip to Disney with my boys, my second alone as a single mom. I had stayed at Pop on my last trip but it was booked. I did get a great rate, but perhaps because of this I was sent off into the wild blue yonder as far as room placement went. It was at least a 15 min walk to our room from the food court and front bus stop area. I was having an issue with my foot on this trip after I arrived at Disney. I dont know if I twisted it, or the heat, but it swelled up to the point I could not wear a shoe. I asked to be moved to a room closer to the front and had no success, and didnt find the front desk to be very kind about the situation. Basicly you get what you pay for seemed to be the CM's attitude. I was surprised at the lack of usually Disney service quality. I tried to use a wheelchair one day and that was useless with my two boys, although they were troopers and tried to help me as much as possible. I ended up renting the scooter everday at the parks, and spent a fortune, but it was that or not being able to get around the parks. The hotel seemed old, and in need of updating, felt dated and low quality motel - ish. It was a step down from Pop that was for sure. And the rooms didnt seem clean even when they were cleaned by staff. Again, just dated and well used I guess. If I cant stay at Pop then I dont think I would stay at the value resort again, I think I would try off property for the same price as now there are many off property locations with access to the parks and down town disney for the same price point and maybe better ammenities. I am staying at CBR this time, my first Moderate Rate Disney hotel, and very excited. Hoping that it will be a better experience.
We have stayed here but it is not our favorite place. I would rather pay a few more dollars and have a nicer place. If you spend all of your time at the parks from sunrise to sunset it will probably be fine for you. We like to spend time at the resort as well as the parks.
Have stayed at the Music once. Although it is a nice resort, probably would not stay at again. If you are in country or rock sections and are taking the buses to the parks, it's quite a walk at the end of the day. Themeing is cute, but again nothing I would write home about.

Spent 4 nights at All Star Music. We paid for a regular room, but received a complimentary upgrade to the Calypso building. We were celebrating our anniversary, and were welcomed with towel animals and a signed photo from Mickey & Minnie
The theming here was not as elaborate as Pop Century, but still quite pleasing. We did not experience any issues with noise in the room. The room itself was very clean and maid service consistent, with a new towel animal every day.
We visited Guest Services twice. They were kind and efficient both times.
We used online check-in and on our around noon, it took only a couple of minutes. Our package was all ready to go, and our room was ready.
Bus transportation was efficient. Our bus was only for our resort - did not stop at other resorts. Never waited very long for any buses, either to or from the parks.
Overall for the price paid, this was a pleasant resort. I have stayed at many deluxe resorts, and if making a short trip again where I'll really only shower and sleep at my resort, I'd stay here again.
My only complaint was the food court area. There is music playing at the check-out counters, different music playing in the dining area, and a tv going. It was quite loud as we could hear all 3 from our seat. Also, the lines for food moved slowly, not because of the CMs, but the guests have so much trouble deciding what they want. It seems there must be a better way to manage the food line.

Loved ASMu!! Themeing was fantastic!! We enjoyed every moment of our stay there!! Only reason for the 9 for overall rating- sometimes it shares buses with the other Allstars and that can sometimes be a pain.

I just stayed there two weeks ago. The family suites are very roomy. The separate bedroom is nice, the way the chair, couch and ottoman pull out into beds was cool. There was also a Microwave, kitchen sink and small fridge. But best of all was that there are TWO bathrooms\showers\sink areas. That comes in handy even for a family of 4. I am lazy so I requested the Calypso building because it is closer to the food court and buses. We had a room that faced All-Star Sports and it was not loud at all. If you are on a budget and need a larger room this place is very nice. I would stay there again. Now, I have also stayed at the Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom lodge and would rather stay at those resorts if money was no object. But, usually money considerations are an issue. ALL-STAR Music is clean, fun for the kids and nicely priced for how much space you get if you get a Family suite.
Reserved a regular room as active military, but when tried to upgrade to a preferred room, was told that no military discount is avail for those. Regular rooms can be a very long walk for my 5 year old daughter, and preferred rooms WERE available, just not with any military discount. SHAME ON DISNEY for not offering the same deals to our military! (And now, when I've called back, they claim that no preferred rooms are available at any price -- because they wouldn't sell me one, and now they are booked). If I had the money to spend I wouldn't be asking for the military rate. It definitely is THE GREEDIEST PLACE ON EARTH.
Capt. J, I am sorry you felt you were badly treated in not being given a military discount on a preferred room. But we stay at Music every year and think it is affordable, friendly, accessible, and has fun theming. When we use a pin code or other discount, we often are told that it does not apply to preferred rooms or that none are available for this promotion (they only have a limited number of rooms for various offers). Both my husband and myself have mobility issues and really would rather have a preferred room, but this year, we are happy to get the free dining discount and take a standard room--even with a longer walk/ride.
Every special interest group can find reasons why they should get a discount: seniors, people with disabilities, people with large families, people in the military. Guess who, out of all those people, gets a discount? That's right: only the military. I have a disabled husband who is also a veteran, and a disabled adult son. The only discounts we get are pin codes or other discounts offered to the general public. While I appreciate those who serve in the military, and agree that it is nice to offer a military discount, I feel Disney does offer appropriate discounts to the military for both rooms and tickets. Plus, you can stay at Shades of Green, which the rest of us cannot do.
I guess I understand your disappointment, but I don't think it's fair to downgrade the whole resort because the CM was following their given set of rules.

We have stayed at several of the WDW Value Resorts over the years. This time we are staying at the All Star Music Resort. This place is huge and be prepared for a hike. Both my wife and I have mobility issues and where are our rooms in the Country Fair portion of the Resort. We tried to get our room moved, but was not successful, the room is OK, but the distance is a challenge. I should have stuck to my guns on my original idea. Won't book this again!
