As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I did AK in the morning by myself. I am showing I did this on August 20th, whatever day that was of my trip. The Tree of Life, It’s Tough to be a Bug -Queue Questions- what to do in preparation of a WDW trip if you have watched every Disney Feature over and over again? Expose your children to some of the following, and then have fun finding the mock posters in the Queue, and talk about how clever the posters are. The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire, West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, My Fair Lady, Beauty & the Beast, The King & I, Annie, A Chorus Line....... I did note that this queue lets you take your stroller to a certain point and then a CM takes it from you and parks it. I would think that would make life much easier for waiting in the line for certain stroller kids-just be sure to collect your valuables before the CM collects your stroller. Still a reasonable (time) wait after they take your stroller, but you are ‘inside’ the tree. Early in the morning I was able to walk freely about the ‘cave’ to check out all of these Posters, but I would guess this is not the case later in the day. Primeval Whirl Queue Questions-take a good long look at yourself in the mirror before you start to wait for this attraction because you will have to live with yourself the whole way. No strollers in the queue, but the railings are firm on top although not wide. You traverse wooden planks with traction strips before you board. Kilimanjaro Safari Queue Questions. You may take your stroller most of the way. I didn’t wait too long early in the morning, but this was one queue I didn’t mind being ‘rushed’ through despite the beauty of the ‘jungle’ surrounding me. There is much adieu about poachers on the TV screens above your head in the queue despite the fact that the ‘happy ending’ has been taken out of the ‘ride.’ Festival of The Lion King Queue Questions: stroller parking is across the bridge from the line for the Festival of the Lion King. There was a CM trying to catch people so they didn’t have to walk back with their stroller but there were still many falling through the cracks. Still, you aren’t getting into the queue without parking the stroller across the bridge. The waiting area is kind of a big ‘road’, no seating, no walls, bars of firm surfaces. If you are holding your child it’s all on you. There were a very few boulder size rocks at the edges. They had fans with mists at various places although I wasn’t too hot. There was a light tree cover-some places were in sun and some were in shade. There wasn’t really a ‘line’ just kind of a mass of people and when I was there some people wanted to be in the sun and let others pass them to go stand in the shade. Rafiki’s Planet Watch Queue Questions: you are required to fold your stroller before you get to the end of the queue. AK begins to feel a little ‘preachy’ especially after going to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. At 10:45 AM I started to wait for the train, boarded at 10:48, disembarked at 10:54 and was finished petting the animals at Affection Section by 11:08. They had designed something in the petting area so the animals could go behind a rope if they didn’t want to be bothered. They were all in there except the one who was called by name by a CM and followed him out. There was a hand washing station upon leaving the petting zoo. The first/last time I went to Rafiki’s Planet watch I remember not being able to get a drink or any food, it being way too hot, waiting way too long to board the train back, and it taking way too long to get back. Because of all this I was unable to get my family to go back, but I thought I would give it a shot. I was able to get, I think a bottle of water and/or a bottle of soda. Just an outside note-somewhere else in the World-EPCOT, I think I did find a CM who could answer my question about the bottle straps-or perhaps I just asked the right question that day. I was told that they were changing the design and would get new ones in about six months (from August 2012). Until then it was just whoever (whatever station) had any left. They did not have any bottle straps at Conservation Station. They did have air-conditioning inside. The interactive program with a live animal (inside in the air conditioning) was informative and not nearly as preachy as some of the other things-it was more focused on giving guests an appreciation of the mysteries of life, a first hand interaction with the animal and the desire for preservation will follow. I found it not nearly as unpleasant as the first time I went, but not a happy experience. Now this time I was on my own and thinking about my poor little doggy at home who had her teeth cleaned while being boarded and was not doing well, and ‘petting‘ the animals or lack thereof did not renew my happiness. Still not as painful as the late afternoon with a very tired and thirsty 4 year-old. Once I got back, I headed to Pizzafari and ordered a Caesar Salad which was very very richly laden with dressing and a Pizza that came together as a meal. Much more food than I could actually eat, but it was ok. I was finished by noon. I guess I shopped and roamed around for awhile. I wrote that I started to wait for the bus back to YC at 1:50 PM.

Just adding a couple pics-since I remembered how to do it. The guy with the Pi at DHS. Figment's Queue from EPCOT, and One Man's Dream from DHS. When I think about what I want to do at DHS 'One Man's Dream' is really all that comes to mind. I guess the days are gone for parents going through with their kids saying, "I remember when Walt..... " My daughter is all grown herself now, but it is still a great story. The movie at the end is informative and I am reading Walt Disney An American Original by Bob Thomas which I am enjoying. DH and I remember the re-release of Lady & the Tramp from when we were dating, and remember seeing Walt on television growing up. I guess they don't want to give you information overload, but I would enjoy longer written information. It would be great to be able to get a companion booklet or something. DH and I specifically remember Walt talking about his plans for the POLY. I also remember his love of animals on the live action Wonderful World of Disney. Now I think Walt Disney died the year I was born (1966?).
Going back to AK, I cannot forget to review The Lion King Show....may be this isn't the right name, but the show is incredible. Showing my age, the 'bleachers' type seats were a little tough on me not having backs, but I was comfortable, because at least my feet could touch the ground. I am trying to remember what they said about photography-something like you can use flashes EXCEPT....and people were still flashing then. Anyway, as a former gymnast (and coach) I find this production fascinating and exciting. It's more than just gymnastics, it's all choreographed together well, and as a coach from the old school when we used to have to put up and take down all the equipment every day, I am so in awe of the -stage production how they roll everything in and out -all hidden under the guise of Elephants and Lions and what is the name of the plain or whatever that is the place where they all live?
When the show was over I hung around and listened to a CM with a guitar make up 'camp songs' about guests on the spot! WOW-it was so much fun.

I am getting ready for our next trip and was able to take pics of the two fanny pacs I bought last time. I went back through here and edited the places I talked about it making them in purple (pinkish) print. The one on the left is the one I will probably use. I like it better as my torso is short and I think it will work better. I may take both in case someone else in the family wants to use it.
To review-I wanted a fanny pack & found one I liked, but I thought it was only to hang on one's shoulder, but DH said buy it anyway. I did buy it and found out it was actually a fanny pack (Too) only after I 'opened' it. I went back and posted one pic that shows where the waist strap was zipped into the pack. Here are some more pics.
Since I am planning another Disney Vacation-our do again ADRs are still Ohana's & Disney Spirit of Aloha.
