As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi everyone just got home today from our annual WDW trip and our 1st MNSSHP experience. I just wanted to share my review and maybe it can helpful to another MNSSHP newbie who maybe going soon. Also this maybe more for those with kiddos then adults. Adults may want to do different things the we did.We just went on tuesday 10/16 and we used this day as a down day and did no parks. We have a DD(4) and wanted to make sure she got a good nap in and so glad we did. We ate breakfast that day at Kona, swam in the POLY pool, then swam in our resort pool at WL and it was a nice way to rest up for our fun filled packed evening.
1st off, there was a bunch of MNSSHP guests who were all able to get in with just their party tickets well before 7pm. We got in around 5pm and got our wristbands right away. I had made reservations at Tony's for 5:15pm and thought that would be be good since it was right in the front of main street. Well this had turned out to be a nightmare in itself. I dont know what the issue was, if others thought the same thing but Tony's was a mob scene and we didnt even get seated till 6pm. if it were me next time I would eat at my resort or quick service something in the MK.
Once 7pm hit the MK was so awesome playing the haunted mansion music, the lights it all felt so exciting. We quickly ran over to the Phineas and Ferb meet and greet right up front but they apparently are the only ones that don't come out until 7:30pm. The Mickey and Minnie line was getting long quick and i wanted to start with the party festivities so we opted to start trick or treating in Tommorrowland. Again never doing this before we did the 1st stop and the lines look long but they move quick and of course Buzz was out and his line got long quickly as well. So we hit the 2nd trick or treat stop there, danced a bit at the dance party with Chip and Dale and moved along to Fantasyland. We hit the trick or treat spot in front of the racecars and I ordered DH to run over and get a spot in Alice's line, She was out w/ the mad hatter and her line was right in front of the teacups and was not near as long as the others. DD also rode the teacups b/c there was no line as well. We then hit the 1 treat stations in fantasyland and DD rode Barnstormer 2 times in a row with no lines at all. The Winnie the pooh line had closed so we moved along to the carousel and Daisy and Donald were out. Then we moved over to main street through liberty square (keep in mind they shut the castle entrances all down so you either have to go through liberty square or go through tommorrowland to get to Main Street. Hallowishes was AMAZING, IMO the best disney firework show I have seen in the MK. We hung on main street by the bridge that leads back to liberty square and darted back that way after the fireworks, BE PREPARED though the crowds are awful right after Hallowishes so shoot right back to Frontierland and we had a great selection of places to sit and wait for Boo-To-You (the 10:15 parade) but those spots seemed to start filling up quickly.
Boo-to-you is awesome and is not to be missed. If you have young kids make sure they are up by the ropes because the interaction for them is great with the dancers and characters. We were in such a great spot after that to hit Woody and Jesse's Dance party minus bullseye ( he was MIA ) but DD had a blast. It was getting late now so we hit Adventure land and Aladdin and Abu were out together. A CM told us most of teh characters go in around 11pm which we didnt know.
Overall we did most of everything we wanted to see but we missed the Villlian Show and some characters but we had a blast. We did hit Phineas and Ferb on the way out (short line) then headed out. We got to see and do alot more then I thought we would, & DD was able to actually enjoy a couple rides too which I was not originally anticiapting doing. I absolutely cannot wait to go back again. I now only want to go to WDW at this time of year because of the fall decor and the party. We all dressed up but you dont have too. There was quite a bit of people who dressed up and it was really fun to see how creative people got with their costumes. My only 1 big complaint is they didnt seem to have any special MNSSHP merchandise left from previous parties apparently. I asked about a few different things I had heard about that I wanted to purchase and the CM's all told me they were sold out on all of WDW property and were not getting anymore in. That was a dispapointment and the CM at the register even said for some reason disney never seems to carry enough of the party merchandise each year. I hope disney fixes this for future parties. I hope anyone who is going in the next few eeks has a blast it was so much fun, we certaintly enjoyed it !!!!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed MNSSHP! We love it too! We use the exact same plan - have the day be sort of a down-day relaxing at the resort and then go to MK just for the party. It's a really great idea and has always served us well. I'm sorry that they were sold out of a lot of merchandise! That stinks. They had plenty when we were there on 9/28. I thought it was interesting that the CM told you most of the characters go in at 11pm. I know for sure that the night we were there the 7 Dwarfs were out until 12, as were Tarzan and Jane (or maybe he was with Turk? Can't remember exactly, but I know he was there with someone because we had just gotten Dole Whips at midnight and we saw him go inside then). Maybe how late they stay out depend on the crowds? Our night was sold out, so there were still quite a few people around late.

MNSSHP 2015: DH (Bane), Me (Batgirl), Genie, and our friends
Tigger25 Thank you so much for posting. We will be going to MNSSHP, our 1st time ever!!!!) on Oct. 25th. We will most likely not do much trick or treating since DS is 16 but we do want to get to one certain character, parade and Hallowishes.
He wants to do HM and POTC on the party night as well. I am so sorry to hear they are out of merchandise. I know there are somethings we wanted to get. Do you know if they allow you to special order them?
Thanks for the review of MNSSHP! And, thanks for the tip about eating dinner beforehand. I'm going to the party next week and I think I'll eat dinner at a resort beforehand.
