As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We are on the 1 TS, 1 QS, 1 Snack credit plan & I have the following ADR's booked. Which do you feel I should pay OOP for?
8/25 Le Cellier - dinner
8/26 Liberty Tree Tavern or Crystal Palace if CP has walk up avail - dinner
8/27 1900 Park Fair - breakfast
8/28. Akershus - dinner
8/29. Chef Mickey - dinner
8/30. 1900 Park Fair - dinner
8/31. Kona Cafe - dinner
9/1. CRT - breakfast, SoA - dinner
It's my daughter & myself. She'll eat anything, I eat chicken, turkey & pasta.
I know I need to look at the menus on AllEars but is the general idea the cheaper of the meals I want to pay OOP for & the expensive ones I'll use the dining plan?
I'm use to being on deluxe dining & not worrying about any of this. Sorry I'm acting like a newb!!!!
Well, most of your ADR's are either buffet, family style, or fixed price menus, so Kona Cafe which offers more of a menu would be my vote for OOP.
Though, sometimes a 2 credit event such as LeCellier or SoA or CRT can actually be more cost effective if paying with cash rather than 2 table service credits.
Have a magical trip!

If my math is correct, you're staying 8 nights, but have 11 TS credits, so you'd have to pay OOP for more than one meal. Personally, I like paying OOP for the buffets, because I know, up front, what my cost is. But Kona or LeCellier are good options too.
Three of your nine meals are 2TS meals, using a total of 12TS credits for all your meals, but you have 8TS credits available. You might want to pay for two of those meals OOP, rather than 4 of your 1TS meals. I think you might want to look at the menus on AllEars to get an idea of the cost at each restaurant. See which way will be more cost effective. Good luck!!

I usually book and pay for CRT out of pocket, long before I go. I would probably pay oop at Le Cellier, two TS credits is too much there. Personally, I think buffets are best done on the meal plan, especially if you have children or picky eaters in your party, since you are basically paying for the seat, not what they eat.

I was thinking of doing CRT & Le Cellier OOP because of the 2 credits. I'm the picky eater out of the group lol I also did SoA OOP since we like category 1 seating.
Hmm, I think this turned out easier then I thought!
The way I do this is to go through my PassPorter and look at the price of each meal and then go for the one that I think is going to work out the cheapest. There are also the "magic figures" for breaking even on the Dining Plan in the Feasting chapter, which are very useful too.
Yep, my first immediate reaction was the 2 TS meals--especially Le Cellier. I think if you divide the meal cost by 2 since it is a 2 TS meal you will find the most savings there.
I am assuming your DD is an adult (by Disney's standards...over 10?) If so, I would probably pay OOP at one of the 2 TS (probably LC, as others have said).
From our past experiences, we have noticed that we are not always hungry for a full meal when the TS time rolls around. Sometimes, we order app and meal and share or something lighter (possibly the famous soup at LC).
Sounds like a great plan so far! Enjoy!

I would do out of pocket Le Cellier. This would leave you with one extra TS credit. You were one in the hole and getting rid of this one would allow you to have another TS credit. You could add dinner at Prime Time Diner or breakfast somewhere. The problem with signature restaurants is that you are paying for a $40 to $50 meal when you could get two $25 to $30 meals for that same price. I did the Crystal Palace and was too full and had fun with the characters so the cost was worth it but for sit down regular meals I rather have 2 of the regular than one signature meal.

Disneyland was fun with flag retreat and pickles. I have a home here, thank you. GAC is NOT a "front of the line pass".
She is gone but keeping signature. Laundry is getting done. My purpose in life is to help poor people in FL. Farewell, will miss you.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. My daughter is still a child by Disney standards which I probably should have mentioned & doesn't justify using 2 credits at those 2 credit meals. I guess I had to type this out to make me realize the obvious!
Usually the least expensive meal is a good one to pay OOP for - and in your case the 1900 PF breakfast would be a good choice. And IMO the other good ones to pay OOP for are any meals that are a la carte (le Cellier and Kona for you) because you can decide how much or how little you pay. If you're not hungry or just want to get in the restaurant to check it out, go and have an appetizer or dessert. Hungry for more, just get a meal and split it. That's what we did at 50's PT - I wanted Lenny and Abby to experience the atmosphere so we went planning on getting dessert. We were hungry for something so we got Abby a kids meal and Lenny and I split an adult meal and paid OOP for it all. We didn't spend a ton there and were able to use our credits for other meals.
