Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

August 1-August 2 Last day and off the Dream!

The night before, we looked at the schedule to see what we would do today. We figured out everything, starting out with meeting the princesses first thing in the morning. Well, we took a little bit of time getting ready, so by the time we got to the lobby atrium (where the princesse gathering was) there a long line already! We stood in it for a little while, but then we came up with a better plan of action. I saw on the schedule that Aladdin was scheduled to meet right above the lobby atrium a little before the scheduled princess gathering. I got really excited because he’s one of my favorite characters. We saw that there was another princess gathering later that morning, so we ran up one deck and were the first ones in line to see Aladdin! As we waited, we watched the princesses being announced.

I absolutely love all their dresses!

Soon, Aladdin appeared! He sounded exactly like he was suppose to, if that makes any sense! And I loved his prince costume!

After a lovely meeting with Aladdin, we went to eat breakfast. We were starving! We went to Enchanted Garden for breakfast.

I also took some pictures of Ciara eating but I don’t think she would appreciate if I put those pictures out there on the internet for the world to see!

It was, as always, a delicious breakfast.

When we were done with breakfast, Caleb managed to get a hold of my camera and proceeded to take pictures like this:

He’s so silly We then split up. Me, Caleb, Ciara, and Kat wanted to ride the Aquaduck at least once (can you believe we STILL hadn’t ridden it and it was our last day?!?) and Caitlyn didn’t want to get wet lol. I’m not sure what Caitlyn did... But we all rushed to our rooms and put on our swim suits. We had a little time before the princess gathering!

We got to Deck 11 and found a chair to put all our stuff on. I kept my camera with me so I could take pictures up on the slide and record video! Waterproof cameras are so handy! The deck was HOT and we were hopping around, trying to find relief. The stairs were fine, because they were wet from swimmers going up and down.

I needed to take a picture of the ocean. The color was breathtaking. It was the bluest blue you could imagine. The picture doesn’t convey even half of it’s beauty. We had to wait in line for about 10-15 minutes, but I didn’t mind with the sight being so beautiful.

I took more pictures

My best buddy

We finally reached the top of Aquaduck. I rode with Kat while Caleb and Ciara rode together. The first drop over the side of the ship is exciting. You’re over the side of the ship! After that the ride was slow, but fun! We got propelled uphill by water jets and took a relaxing ride around the deck. You go through the other...thing... I don’t know the technical terms for it..but.. the huge red thing? One contains the Aquaduck entrance and the other you go through, and I think one of the teen clubs has a window so they can see all the riders pass by! Pretty cool. I would love to take a tour of all the clubs and nursery just to see what they look like. We got to the bottom of the Aquaduck and waited for Ciara and Caleb to slide down. When they got down, we decided against going again, as the line had gotten longer. We wanted to check out the hot tubs! We got into one and were surprised to see that part of the bottom was clear. We could see over the side of the boat! Hmm.. I thought I had taken a picture of the clear bottom but I guess not!

To be quicker and more time efficient, we split up to make use of three empty and completely free showers! Kat and I went up to my parents room and her moms room while Ciara and Caleb went to our room to take a shower. We had access to my parents room and were able to get in. There was no one there and housekeeping was in Kat’s moms room. We waited for the people to finish so that Kat could crawl ninja style over the verandahs (they had opened up the verandahs first thing so that they shared had one huge verandah) and to her moms room! We then took showers and got ready to finally meet the princesses!

I think we were the first ones in line...or near the front anyways. We were excited to see the princesses!
We had some time to kill, so, we took some pictures!

Soon, the princesses were announced and came down to see everyone. We each took pictures with all of them. Tiana, Ariel, and Snow White were my favorite to meet with.

I love the picture Caleb took with Snow White. And we all took a group picture with Ariel because we had seen her earlier... and she remembered us! When we were waiting in line, we noticed one of the crew members who were helping with the pictures. He looked extremely familiar, and we figured out that he was one of the characters from the Villains show the other night! We remembered this guy because he was hilarious in the show. Well, when we reached Ariel, who he was helping, he recognized us! We had sat in the front row for the Golden Mickeys the first night and I’m sure it’s easy for performers to see who was sitting in the front row, especially since the stage was so close! I started talking to him and asking if the character we thought was him.. was him! I liked talking to crew members about their job and ship life, and meeting some of the performers was really great! He revealed to us that it was him! We talked a little more and I asked if I could get a picture with him. My cousins wanted one too He was extremely nice and took a picture with each of us, then asked what show time we were attending that night. We would later attend the 3:00 one and then again at 6:00 because 3 was the time of Caitlyn’s massage. So, we said goodbye, telling him we’d be on the lookout for him during the show. I then recognized another performer when we were meeting with Snow White. She was easily recognizable because she had played the lead in the first show! I needed to tell her what an amazing job she did, so I complimented her, and we talked a little about this cruise being my first. It was great talking to her.

I’m not sure what we did to fill that time.. Caitlyn went to get her massage. I think me, Ciara, Caleb, and Kat, went to get ice cream and roam around a little bit. Oh, we did get food because we were starving! Soon, it was time for the show and we managed to get front row again. While we waited for the show to begin, Caleb and I started comparing skin colors lol.

I love that bracelet. It says Bahamas and reminds me of our time there, plus I love the bright colors.
That days show was Believe. This had to be my favorite show out of the three we saw. It was amazing, I loved it so much! Words or descriptions won’t convey how great this show is. We spotted the crew member we had met earlier in the show several times! During the end of the show, when all the performers line up for their final bows, he managed to find us in the audience and wave to us! We loved it, it’s kind of exciting when you know a performer is waving specifically at you. It made our experience that much more special. One particular part of the show stuck with us for the remainder of the trip and onto Florida. They sing the Circle of Life, and then the lead man starts singing the beginning as “pink pajamas with penguins on the bottom!” over and over again lol. We were cracking up, it was so funny. And we would sing that part over and over and over again while we were together for the rest of the trip. So there’s an explanation for half of my trip report title! The other half’s explanation is coming up next

After the show, we went back to our rooms. Here is where the “juicy cheesecake” part comes in. Ciara and I were on our way to our scheduled massages. Caleb and Kat were going to see if they could find Caitlyn. As we were tumbling out of our room, Kat said something about the arcade. Ciara, who was in front of us all, whipped around suddenly with an intense look on her face and said.. “What?!? Juicy cheesecake?! Where?!” There was confused silent for a split second, then we all burst out laughing. Kat didn’t say anything that sounded like juicy cheesecake, so I have no idea where Ciara got that from. It would become a running joke among us all for the remainder of the trip
Ciara and I made our way to Senses, the spa on board the Disney Dream. This was our first massage ever! What better way to experience your first massage on your first cruise? We were scheduled for a Swedish Massage. I felt kind of out of place when we went there, but the people were warm and friendly. We got into fluffy white robes and sat down in a waiting room to wait for our... um.. masseuse? lol Anyways, it was very relaxing in that room. The chairs were very plush. My appointment was supposed to be a little before Ciara’s, but her masseuse called her first. I waited another 20 minutes and started to get a little worried that I wasn’t listed or something. But then, a lady called my name and apologized for the wait. Apparently, something went wrong and they had to reschedule an appointment that was before mine that threw everything off. I assured her I was fine with it, as I was just relieved that they had finally called me. My masseuse was from Ireland! I’m sad I can’t remember her name now. But she was probably my favorite crew member who I talked to, plus I loved her accent. She was fairly young, and had a very soothing voice. She led me to the room, and the view really did take my breath away. One wall was entirely glass, sloping downwards, so that you could see the bow of the ship and beyond. My massage was right around sunset, so the view was amazing. The rays of the sun were reflecting on the surface of the blue ocean.. I could also see an area which I first assumed was for crew members, but which my masseuse told me later was an area for teens only. How cool! The area was right at the front of the boat! My masseuse started on my back, so I was just resting my head on my hands staring outside. She commented that I must really love the view lol. Which I did! Then we started talking a bunch. She told me about life on the ship, her roommates, how she worked with other cruise ships (and was loving Disney!), and also Ireland! I loved hearing about all of this. She told me stories about getting packages in the mail and some crazy roommates. She also talked about how she’s met so many people from around the world. Which sounds amazing to me. Let me get a little off topic here: I think that working on a cruise ship would be an amazing experience. You get to travel to places while also meeting people from all over the world. I know a lot of people say that the cabins are small and the hours are a lot.. but it’s also a once in a lifetime experience. I think that I would personally love it.
Back on topic, the massage was definitely nice and relaxing. I think my favorite part was talking to my masseuse though lol.

When I was finished, I said goodbye to her and quickly made my way to our room. I was in a hurry because the delay in my massage had made me a little late for the next showing of Believe. I was suppose to meet my cousins in the room, but I found a note outside from Caleb, telling me and Ciara that they were already at the show. He’s clever I probably would have waited for them in the room. But thanks to his note, I went down to see the show, and saw they were in the front row again. The show was even more brilliant the second time we watched it, and our friendly performer waved to us all again! I think it was all our favorite show.

The show ended, and we went to our room to quickly get ready for our dinner. These were our second choices for formal night (remember we thought pirate night was formal night) but it turned our nicely. We matched each other without even trying which we thought was funny. We were once again dining at the Royal Palace.

I can tell you that this was surprisingly my least favorite night for the food. And I can’t really read off of the picture I took of the menu, so I’ll just show you all the pictures of what I had!

While we were eating dinner, we told Caitlyn about Ciara and the juicy cheesecake We kept joking around about it.

I took a picture with a princess:

She is so pretty!

And Ciara tried taking a picture of Caitlyn and Caleb (the photographer thought they were a couple... awkward.)
and here is the result:

When Gabor realized that his arm had been in the picture, he started apologizing, but we were laughing and congratulating him on making the picture 10 times better. The end of dinner was becoming apparent, and this little princess fell asleep.

We wanted one last picture with our dashingly dressed servers that night.

And then headed out where the four of us took a picture in our matching outfits We were all wearing variations of black, white, and brown.

August 1-August 2 Last day and off the Dream! continued

We went back to our room and changed into more comfortable clothes. We went to the atrium to watch the goodbye celebration for a little.

Where we saw Mickey Mouse and his crew in their sailor outfits for the last time.

We made our way to Shutters, the onboard photo store. It was really cool, you’re assigned a folder where your pictures have already been printed out and choose which ones you want to purchase. You could also view them on a touch screen just by scanning your room key. Definitely impressed by all of that. We spent about an hour and a half there, looking through the pictures and deciding which ones we wanted and what package to purchase. In the end, we could not resist and ended up buying most of them. It was our first cruise after all

It was late by the time we were finished and everyone was understandably tired. I think my cousins decided to call it a night and just watch movies in the room. I was not at all ready to say goodbye to the ship and I wanted to roam around for a little. I asked Caleb if he wanted to come but he was pretty much sleeping in his bed already. So I went out to have a little adventure of my own around the ship. I brought my camera

They were playing Up! I love that movie. I remember it was really late, and as you can see, the movie is almost done! Well, at least if you’ve seen the movie is before, you know what part that is. As soon as Up was done, the crew immediately started putting the chairs away and cleaning up the deck.

I also snapped a picture of the Mickey Mouse slide, which my little cousins loved.

Then I went inside and took more photos! I absolutely loved looking at the artwork on the cruise ship. It’s just so fascinating to me how they create the artwork, and I also love watching people draw or sketch.

I went to admire the beautiful lobby. I love the hidden Mickey

Then guess who I ran into? My parents! They had stayed out to go to one of the clubs, I forgot which one. But we took a picture outside on the blue chairs. That was really relaxing. And I remember that it was perfect weather outside. I wish I could go back in time! My mom was drinking a Pina Colada and told me to hold it. I didn’t even try it, I don’t like Pina Coladas!

They were going back to their room to sleep but I wanted to continue to wander. So we said goodnight and parted!
Here are more pictures of the lobby that I took after I saw my parents.

I went down the hall, past the closed shops, and to the Walt Disney Theatre. I had to see it one last time! I loved the shows that we saw there, they were all spectacular. I can’t put into words how amazing these shows were.
I love the picture of Walt Disney that greets you as you enter the theatre.

From there I went outside again where I took a picture of the empty deck. You can see the comfy blue deck chairs and the yellow life boat above, which matches Mickey Mouse perfectly. Interesting fact which I learned and which has also stuck with me! The primary colors of the ship are made to match the iconic Mickey Mouse. Lifeboats are usually orange so that they could be spotted easily in an emergency situation. Disney Cruise Lines had to get special permission to paint their lifeboats this shade of yellow to match Mickey Mouse’s shoes. I can’t imagine a Disney ship without the yellow lifeboats now! Imagine if they were orange....

I circled the whole ship! And I saw signs posted for runners to follow. I suppose this was for early morning joggers because I didn’t see anyone running before! I wonder if anyone actually ran. It was interesting because the signs told you how many laps around the ship equals a mile or something. I didn’t take a picture of the sign although I wish I had.

When I had circled back to my starting place, I just hung out there for a little while, staring out into the water. There was a ship in the distance and I tried taking a picture but all you can see is blackness with dots of light in the distance. It was pretty neat though.

I went back inside, where I sat down on one of the comfortable couches. I just wasn’t ready to wake up tomorrow morning and end this wonderful adventure!

So I sat there and looked through the hundreds of pictures I had taken during the trip. I couldn't believe how quickly the vacation had passed!

Soon after, I walked back to my room. I got into my pj’s, and climbed into my top bunk. My cousins were already sleeping and I bet you no amount of noise I could have made would have waken them up. I wish I had taken a picture, because it was the funniest thing. Caitlyn was half on top of Ciara and sprawled out on most of the bed while Ciara was curled up half off the bed. They would have killed me if I put that online anyways. I watched a Disney movie for a short while but fell asleep quickly.

We woke up the next morning and gathered the remainder of our things. I forgot to mention that earlier this day, before dinner, I think, we packed up all our things, set aside our clothes for the next morning, and left them out the door for them to be picked up by the crew. We still had a sit down breakfast to look forward to! The menus made me sad.

I’m hoping the saying on the menu comes true. It was typical breakfast food and was of course, delicious. I have nothing but good things to say about the food onboard the Dream!
We finished breakfast and went to wait in the lobby for disembarkment. Is that what it’s called? Anyways, we waited maybe 15 minutes to get off the ship. We said goodbye to the Dream and stepped off the ship. We got to our vans where everyone sort of jumped back into reality by turning on their cell phones. It felt wonderful not having a cell phone or internet access those four days. I loved it! You forgot about real life for a moment and got lost in a Dream.
We drove away, looking back at the Disney Dream until we couldn’t see it anymore. Until next time! See ya real soon!

Luckily, all the fun didn’t end there. We were making our way towards the Shades of Green Resort in Walt Disney World. I don’t remember a lot because I didn’t take as many pictures as I did on the Dream since we go to WDW every summer. But I will share my favorite night of that trip, which happened to be the very last night!

Great finish! Believe was, by far, my favorite show, too.

Fun times. I would've loved to go on a cruise with my cousins when I was your age.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that i am loving my college program experience right now! I'm training in Adventureland, so maybe I'll catch some of you around there

I'll post more later, I'm trying to keep my blog updated but it's difficult because I've been so busy with classes and training!
