Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Anyone try the Jennie Craig program?

I am seriously thinking about joining Jennie Craig and was wondering if any of you have tried it. I heard it was expensive but if I can lose some weight it would be worth it. Hope I can get some feedback from one of you.

My best friend did Jenny for awhile. She lost some weight but has not kept it off. Jenny is basically portion control. You still have to buy more groceries, Salad veggies etc. I would not wasted the money. Good Luck.

My mom did it way back when it first started. She lost 40 -50 pounds, but gained it all back as soon as she went off the food.

I've heard weight watchers point system is a better program as you have to make your own choices on what and how much to eat and not depend on prepared meals. I've had several friends try it and have some success. Good Luck!

I have not tried it, but if the premise is portion control, then it sounds like a good plan. It is basicaly to train yourself to recognize correct portions, etc, so if you really learn that then when you stop doing it you should be able to self regulate. I've heard really good things about WW too....so that might be another option.

My friend is currently loving Jenny Craig. She and I both had babies within the last year and a half and have been wanting to loose the baby weight. She joined Jenny Craig and has lost 35 lbs. I've lost maybe 5 and am not on Jenny Craig. I looked into Jenny Craig and it's pretty much based on pre-packaged meals. What bothers me about that is it isn't teaching you how to pull it off in the "real world". I think that's why so many people have issues with gaining the weight back. I would rather find a program that teaches me how to choose healthy options and how to cook more healthily. I've been reading up on Weight Watchers and although I don't know if it is exactly what I want I think it's a little closer. They have some "Weight Watchers" meals, but I think they also teach you how to assign "points" to your own food. Seems more flexible than Jenny Craig to me. And it teaches you a lifestyle and not a diet. Of course I say that without having tried Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig.

I haven't tried Jenny Craig (I like "real food" too much), but I recently lost 30lbs with HCG and have kept it off for about a year (more or less). My sister just started a "program" her Dr. recommended. She can eat whatever she wants, but before anything goes in her mouth, she has to drink 2 large glasses of water. She has lost 12 pounds in 11 days and says she feels great.
Good luck with finding something that works for you. There are so many choices out there, I'm sure you will have success.

I have not tried Jenny Craig, but have done Weight watchers and had success with it. What is nice about Weight Watchers is they teach you how to eat right and with good portion controls. The meetings are also a source of great support. Reason I did not try Jenny Craig is once you lose the weight and end the pre packaged foods, it is up to you do do the cooking and figuring out the proper proportions.

Weight watchers even encourages you to continue with the meetings as a source of support once you lose the weight. After 6 weeks of maintaining your goal weight, you get to go for free. So they continue their support once you lose the weight, Jenny does not.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to look into Myfitnesspal.com.

1) It's a free program.

2) It really makes you aware of what you're eating.

3) Did I mention it's free?!?!?

It's a calorie counting program that let's you decide how much you want to lose per week (1 lb or 2 lb's etc) and then sets your daily calorie goal accordingly. They also have apps for iPhone and Droid phones with a cool scanning feature that let's you scan the barcode of the food you're eating. And their database is HUGE, but if you do come across something not listed new foods are super easy to add.

A good friend of mine has lost 30 lbs using it and she hasn't spent a penny extra outside of her regular grocery bill.

Just a thought!

My husband started Jenny Craig last week as he wants to lose 30 pounds. Because I didn't want to cook for myself, I decided to do their 20 pounds for $20. I would like to lose 10 pounds so this seemed like a good plan.

Most of the food is tomato based and is very acidic. I can't eat it. I lasted 2 days and my stomach was miserable. They also said I need to limit my caloric intake to 1200 calories a day. Um, I burn 800 calories a day swimming so my body was running on only 400 calories. Yes, I only ate the food for 2 days, but it took me a week to recover from my workout last Saturday when it usually only takes a day.

DH lost 3 pounds this week. In the two days I ate the food I gained 3 pounds. My body was not happy at the lack of calories or the tomatoes in everything I ate.

I worked with 2 women that lost lots of weight with Jenny Craig but gained it back and more within a year. My niece and an aunt lost weight with Weight Watchers several years ago and have been pretty successful with keeping it off. If they notice a few pounds creeping up, they try to follow the program a little stricter. I need to try Weight Watchers but I am just too lazy!

Here's another vote for Weight Watchers. I joined because a good friend lost 65 lbs on the program. She then convinced some other friends of ours, and they lost 25 and 35 lbs. I figured with such a great track record, I should give it a go, too. And since joining in mid-August, I've lost about 15 lbs. And it hasn't been too difficult. I've mostly made my usual recipes --- tried a few new ones off the WW site, too. And I've even snuck in an ice cream treat almost everyday! (Yeah, I can't give up the stuff.)

Anyway, I don't know much about Jenny Craig, but I can say that WW has been well worth the expense & learning curve for me. I am definitely more mindful of portion sizes & making smarter snack choices.

I guess the key is whether or not you want to go thru the hassle of cooking. I will admit that at the beginning, I focused so much on cooking my WW-friendly foods, I forgot to fix something kid-friendly for my DD6 and DS2! It was a lot of breakfast for dinner and mac & cheese night for them until I figured things out.

Good luck with your decision!
Carol

I started WW online on Jan. 1 this year and did a good job losing. By summer I had lost 40 pounds, but was tired of the money going out each month for an online program. I dropped WW and my daughter found My Fitness Pal. I think it is just as good as WW but, as mentioned, it is free. I have continued to lose at essentially the same pace and have now lost 57 pounds. You might want to try this, since the price is right and see if it works for you.

Thanks for the tip on My Fitness Pal, I am going to give it a try, I also like the "free' part! Like that I can track what I am eating too!
