As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We're traveling to WDW at the end of August. This is the first time we will be requesting a GAC as my DD6 has arthritis and sometimes her knees and ankles swell and lately her back has been hurting. We have rented a stroller because Disney is too much walking for her. We plan to be at MK before opening. Can we get the GAC at Guest Services (GS) outside of the entrance or only GS inside the park? We wouldn't need to use an alternate entrance but she may need to sit to rest her legs. Will they allow her to sit in her stroller in line? She won't need it all the time but possibly at the end of the day. That's the only accomodation we will be asking for. We could hold her in line but she will get heavy and hot. Thanks for your help.
I'm not positive about getting outside of the park but I do know you can get it inside at the Town Hall - and as long as there's not a huge line in there it won't take but a couple of minutes to get it. And just explain to them that you need to use the stroller as a wheelchair and that way you shouldn't have any problem at all taking it in the lines that you need to. Good luck.
Yes, you can get the GAC at guest services outside the turnstiles. I've done this many times. Ask for a tag for the stroller that identifies it as a handicap device "stroller as wheelchair" and you'll be able to bring the stroller into the regular line or alternate entrance.
use the stroller during the day to get from place to place so that she is not in pain at the end of the day from too much walking.
Stroller as a Wheelchair tag is big and obvious. It will let you take the stroller any place that a wheelchair goes including in places like The Land that make you park the stroller outside. Buses and trams must have the child out of the stroller unless the stroller is designated for use on public transportation. GAC and the tag are only for use in the parks.
Sometimes the alternate entrance is better as there are stairs in some lines. Unless you want to carry her up stairs you might be better using the alternate entrance. Talk to cast members as they can usually help you with the best options.

Disneyland was fun with flag retreat and pickles. I have a home here, thank you. GAC is NOT a "front of the line pass".
She is gone but keeping signature. Laundry is getting done. My purpose in life is to help poor people in FL. Farewell, will miss you.
You've gotten some great advice already. Definitely make sure to get a "stroller as wheelchair" tag so that your DD can use the stroller through the entire queue. THere are places, like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Land that will require you to leave a stroller outside, but if you have the "Stroller as Wheelchair" tag, then she can stay in the stroller right up to the ride vehicles.
Thanks for the advice! I'm glad we can get the GAC outside the entrance so we don't waste park time. I hadn't thought about stairs being in some lines so we will keep that in mind.
Guest Relations outside the parks, especially MK, sometimes is very busy with Will Call or other ticket issues. When that happens, they do send people with issues like getting a GAC to Guest Relations inside the park.
That is because the ticket or Will Call items/issues need to be resolved before the guests can enter the park and GAC can be handled after you enter.
Also, just so you are aware, the Guest Relations stations outside the parks are a window in the wall. You talk to the CM thru a small talking hole in the glass. Some people find that a bit intimidating compared with the Guest Relations in the park where you a talking over a desk.
For the stairs in lines, there are few attractions that have them. As long as you are using the stroller as a wheelchair in lines, you will be routed to route and/or boarding areas that avoid the stairs. If you have parked the stroller and she is walking in line, then you will need a GAC that allows use of the handicapped boarding areas.

If you are not using a stroller as a wheelchair, it's also important to know that a GAC will usually not shorten the distance walked in line. Some lines are quite a long distance - for example, it is 1/4 of a mile from the line entrance at Soarin' to the boarding area. Once you have ridden, the distance to get out is the same and using a GAC won't change those distances. There is not seating in lines, but most lines are wheelchair accessible.
Also, most shows 'load' people into a holding/pre show area where guests will wait to go into the theater. As one group of guests walks into the show, the next group of guests is brought into the holding/pre show area. Unless you have a wheelchair or other mobility device, you will not have a seat in most cases. A GAC does not guarantee a seat in those situations and doesn't shorten the wait for the next show.
Hello all. I just wanted to thank you for telling me about using the stroller as a wheelchair. We were in Disney last week and got a GAC for that accomodation. That is the only accomodation we asked for and I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for you. It definitely helped as my daughter was having trouble with her knees before we even got to Disney. She was able to enjoy touring without putting more stress on her knees.
