Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So I just found this TR from your signature on another thread about your September 11 trip. I'm at work and I got all teary-eyed. We too had problems conceiving and also had a miscarriage. We were on our way to infertility treatments and the doctor had said call us as soon as your next cycle starts so we can get all these tests done for your treatments.... and woila that cycle never came. For me, I had sunk into a pretty bad depression from the miscarriage and here I found I was pregnant one day before the 1 yr anniversary of my miscarriage... she was a blessing long before she was ever born.

I so wish we were going to be there when you are but I think we are a week or two after you guys this trip. I was actually going to suggest the first week in December 2012 for your '12 trip because it's very quiet and cooler and all the holiday decorations are up. We took DD for her first trip at 9 months old and the music and lights had her mesmerized.

I'm glad you are able to sneak in a Sept trip and hopefully get more autographs for the quilt. I promised my DH we won't stand in lines for autographs much on our upcoming trip since it's only 4 nights but if you miss any and it's characters we are able to see I'm happy to try to help.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I constantly call our peanut the miracle and every day I thank God for it. I am so glad you too were blessed with a miracle! Sometimes the sadness of loss can make the joy of love even sweeter.

Actually we probably will go the first week of December 2012 as that was when we were supposed to go this year. I really want to see the Christmas decorations so I am thinking we will do that.

Our Sept trip was so random but I am definately excited. As to the quilt I am ok with it being a long process, lol. The place I was actually going to have it made at has shut down so even if I do finish it I have no one to make the quilt so certainly no rush now. Thanks so much though for offering to help! Perhaps soon we will be going to Disney the same time and we can finally meet.

Our peanut is a surprise! With all the struggle to get pregnant we lost out on the surprised feeling of me missing my period and all that. So we decided we wanted some surprise. I cannot wait for the doctor to call out "Its a....." after delivery!

I love to hear that people still want to be surprised by the baby's gender. One of life's few surprises.

Originally we had wanted to be surprised but it became more important to us once we realized we were struggling with infertility.
My sister HATES we want to be surprised, she is very impatient and would find out on her own if she could, lol.

That is so great that you want to be surprised.
We didn't with DD. I have thought that with our next baby, I would like to be surprised. But, I don't know that I would have the patients for it. with that and everything else. that everything continues to go well.
I see that you have 107 days left. That may seem like a lot, but it will go by so fast. Make sure you take time to enjoy all the little planning and special moments you have in those last few months. Sometimes it can get crazy and it becomes easy to forget to enjoy it.

It's cool to be surprised - you can still get things that are not so gender specific.
I adopted my son and didn't know until he was born wether I was going to have a boy or girl so I'm with you. Of course I didn't know when he was going to be born either - I had about 2 weeks notice as the birth momwent into labor early.

still his room was all done and he had lots of yellow and green clothes. rather than pink or blue

Its mostly green and yellow wardrobe. However I must admit I have strong boy feelings so some very boy oriented outfits are in there. I figure worst comes to worst I will put a pink bow somewhere on the out fit if the peanut is a girl. Lol

so...i just read this entire TR in one sitting. loved it! (and cried)

i didn't want to interrupt my reading to comment but here are some of the things i remember wanting to write...

-your photos of the electric parade (name?) were amazing! love that you had the pete's dragon float--that's my favorite movie ever (i feel it is very under appreciated!)

-i LOVE that you and your husband do alone time. my husband and i do the exact same thing! as you know (maybe?) we just got back from a rather long road trip, and we took parts of days as alone days--and had one entire day of alone-ness--and it really is nice. i remember being in this craft shop in prince edward island, and these guys were standing around looking annoyed while their wives shopped. i whispered to the one--my husband is either very smart that he didn't come with me, or very stupid to allow me to bring the visa card here alone! (i didn't buy anything though!)

-CONGRATS on the peanut. and i'm glad someone asked about the gender, because i was wondering that just from talking to you on my own TR. i love that you are being surprised. the best part about that is not having everything end up pink or blue. green and yellow are such better colors. and who wants to gender stereotype their child before they are even born? i wouldn't. good for you! and congrats again! i have...reproductive issues (let's just call them that for now)...and totally understand the frustration. i'm SO happy for you!

-it really seems that being 'limited' in what you could do in WDW gave you a whole new appreciation for the parks--AK especially. what a great accidental blessing!

-i am so glad it took you so long to finish this TR. it makes me feel better about my own (still unfinished) TR! yay!

-i'll be in WDW when you are there. just saying. and...now i'm going to read your PTR (can you tell that i need a disney fix right now? i actually did a google image search for 'walt disney world' yesterday just to cheer myself up. not kidding.)

Ok despite the fact I just answered you in your own TR I am answering you here now too! Lol.
1. Thanks for the electric parade comment! My DH LOVES Pete's Dragon and I agree it is totally unappreciated. I like the older things, and the things people forget about.
2. The alone time is SO important, especially when I want to get shopping done. We get so frustrated at one another, especially when I spend so much time trying to hunt him down. It has worked out as such a blessing. We did not do alone time on our honeymoon and while we had a great time I know it would have been better if we took a breather. And I am VERY impressed you did not buy anything at the craft shop. You are MUCH better control then me. The moment someone says hand made (or disney) I am bringing out the cards and cash!
3. Thanks so much for the peanut congrats. I was hoping me talking about it would not upset others who are still struggling. I try to be respectful of the fact that my joy might bring others sadness. I know I struggled a lot and there are good days and bad. I cannot wait for our miracle and love that we are being surprised. Infertility was a bad surprise for us so I want everything about our peanut to be a good surprise. Plus my favorite color is green so I figure cannot go wrong there
4. I agree being limited has TOTALLY helped me appreciate Disney more. I think that will be important for future family trips (peanut ones and ones with my parents, sister and BIL). They will be focused on the big stuff and I will know enough to have them experience things they might not have.
5. Ugh it takes me forever to finish TR because I get SO distracted with other peoples. Trust that I will never be a prompt TR writer so you will always have a kindred writer in that sense!
6. Totally come find me! Most of the days I will be at MK at SOME point (at least I pretty much can figure that lol). I am very out going and chances are if you yell out Dixie I will turn. Do not be hurt if I do not recognize you right away I am terrible with names to faces. But just say "The passporters girl who always teases you with food pictures" and I know I will recognize you right away!

i think you'd be surprised how many people are joyful about your joy--as opposed to being saddened for themselves (does that make sense?) it doesn't make me sad when i hear that someone who struggled has finally achieved their dream (no matter what that dream may be). i makes me SO happy for them--because i especially understand the struggle. i'm sure MANY other people feel the same way. so know that i really mean CONGRATS!!!

the only people that make me go 'now wait a minute...!' are those that get what they want right away (again, this can apply to anything--a job, a husband, a baby, a...car? anything.) like 'oh hey look i'm pregnant! ha ha! and i wasn't even trying!' (we have a cousin that's pregnant with #2--#1 wasn't intentional and the minute they thought 'hey maybe we should have another'--bam!) of course, i'm happy for them, too. but not until after i get over my own 'that's not fair' moment. and everyone is entitled to a 'that's not fair' moment!

that all being said--i hope you get closer to the completion of your quilt on this upcoming trip! the low crowds will likely help out a great deal!

Aww I am glad it still brings joy. I definately had my off days, especially over people who got pregnant so easily. However I agree when someone who was struggling got pregnant I was extra excited.

As to the quilt I am bringing the pieces with me but I am not sure how much further we will get. Plus the shop with the woman I was going to have make it is out of business. So now I have no idea how I will have it made. Fingers crossed! (sorry on the phone with my mom this is a weird post)

Oh no I have really no sewing skills aside from reattaching buttons and fixing holes. I also have no sewing machine and probably to be honest no time to devote to it. Given how far behind I am on my scrap booking I am not sure I would ever get it done
I am however willing to pay someone to do it
