As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

do if my check-in (10/22) is one day before the dates offered (10/23)? I figure room only for 1st night then a pkg starting the next, right? Assuming we'd have to check-out after room only and check back in for pkg? Do they make you change rooms? I'd love to hear from those that have done it before. I am responsible for a party of 8 so I really REALLY don't want to screw this up. We are staying BCV in a 2BR (4a, 2k) and a studio (2a) and currently have a MYW pkg with the DDP. Also, if I have to redo both ressie's does the pkg one keep the same ressie #? I ask b/c since I made ADR's and they are linked to my ressie # will that screw everything up? Not having park tkts for check-in is not a bigger since my dinner ADR is at Captain's Grille for that day, we could always make it a DTD / SAB day. Yes I have a bazillion questions & yes I have my fingers crossed the rumor is true esp. w/ 7 adults & 1 kid on the DDP!! Please let me know any pitfalls I may encounter or kinks I haven't thought of. TIA to my ever knowledgable PP'ers, please help guide this lost soul....
There are a lot of people with the same issue. I have a feeling there will be a lot of adjustments to people's reservations.
You will need to adjust your reservation to make a room only the 1st night and then free dining reservation for the dates available. There's no other way around it.
Just make yourself detailed notes as to what you need (you'll want to be quick on the draw since tons of other people will be calling--make sure you've already priced it out so you know the final figure is good. Mistakes can and do happen) and have a second resort ready in case your first choice is already taken. It can happen. I've got a 2nd and 3rd resort ready just in case.
We did this in December. Everything worked out just fine for us. When I made the reservation on the phone they noted it on my reservation that I wanted to stay in the room, I was told we may have to change rooms. When I checked in I mentioned it again. In the morning I just went to online check in and checked in I got our new keys with our park tickets. We had the same room so we didn't have to move. I'm not sure about the reservation number question.
I'd get a Disney Travel Agent and let that person worry about it!
Just make sure they actually know what to do. We are in a mess because ours didn't... I'm hoping these new rates will apply to ours somehow. Although we have park tix already.

Yikes!! I am sorry you're having trouble!!
New recommendation: I'd get a travel agent, but I'd check with friends from the PPer Boards to make sure he/she is reliable first!
