As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I've decided to dip my toes into the world of digital scrapping for my next trip and so I have been collecting "supplies" and playing around with templates and such. For those of you with experience (and even those without) take a look at the page I did below using a template. Anything you would change, improve? This is my first try at it and since I am using Paint Shop Pro (not a common program from what I've found in the way of tutorials) I am kind of winging it. Thanks!!
Looks good to me! I'm not at all familiar with PSP because I use PSE and CS5, but it looks to me like you are making it work quite well.
If you want any recommendations for really great digi-scrapping websites I can point you in the right direction. I'm pretty sure I remember that you know about MouseScrappers, but there's some non-Disney ones that are great for picking up tips, tricks and ideas.
Thanks Donna! I've figured out that I can use templates with .png files and .psd files. I'm probably doing much more clicking than I need to, but as long as it works I'm still deciding if I want to start journalling with these pages or not. I guess we'll see what kinds of photos I have. I would love some site recommendations
My favourite one besides MouseScrappers is GingerScraps.net. I don't go to this one but a LOT of scrappers go to Scrap Matters. I also hang out a little at Digi Scraps Drive In and Digiridoo Scraps. One I've just started checking out is ScrapDelicious because they have a DOOZY of a sale on for their Creative Life Workshop ($40, instead of $450!) which I just couldn't pass up. I hope to learn a lot about photography, scrapping and prompts to help me through scrapper's block.
My biggest advice to new digi scrappers is to jump into the challenges with both feet. I also participated in speed scraps a lot. That's how I learned, and in one year have gone from a total noob to thinking about starting my own designing business.
I agree with Donna. Try those challenges. DEFINTILY do journaling. You can compose on the computer (my favorite since I can spell check). And don't 'cha just LOVE templates. I SO love them. Just plug and play.
It looks great!! The first page is always the hardest. Titles and journaling can be tricky as far as fonts and placement go. I usually try one or the other to give the page some life. Also another thing to always remember is to add drop shadows. They really help to make elements and words pop.
The program I use is PSE for digi scrapping. I tried PSP and failed miserably. I am very simple when it comes to my books and digi pages so I look to simply yin for templates and inspiration since her work is very much my style. Some posted on the blog are free, but there are others in the store as well. I lurk on mousescrappers every now and then. They have some great stuff on there. Very talented people!!
Are you creating your pages 12in x 12in 300 dpi? I always create at that size/resolution and if need be I can size them down.
Try to keep any journaling and embellishments and photos 1/2 an inch inside, most printers claim to print full bleed where nothing gets cut off but a really small amount is lost. Better to be safe than sorry.
