As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

DH and I have taken several Disney cruises and I love them. They are more expensive than others, though. As a result, we are looking at other lines to explore. We are taking a Royal Caribbean cruise this December. If you have experience with other lines, would you share your thoughts? How are they like Disney and how are they different? We are empty nesters, so children's activities are not an issue.
My suggestion is to think about what you love (or don't love) and see if you can do an apples to apples comparison.
For example:
- stateroom size
- guest to CM ratio
- entertainment
- inclusives? (ie some ships charge for all drinks, all the time)
- programming
- lounges
I have only cruised once; last month on the Disney Wonder.
But my dd and I will be taking a Carnival Cruise next month.
With the cruises so close together it will be easy to compare the two and I plan to write about it when I get back.
We loved our Disney cruise; but next months cruise is being done on the cheap and not only was Carnival a much cheaper cruise, but they had a port in driving distance and eliminating travel costs was what really kicked in the savings for us...

We will take our 8th cruise on Royal Caribbean this December, and love it! I have never cruised onaother line, so have no comparison. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about Royal Caribbean.
We haven't done Disney cruise but all of our children have and dm has taken every cruise line other than Cunard's. Dm suggests Royal Caribbean or Holland America if not doing Disney although she would have suggested Carnival over when Disney was with big red boat. We have cruised Carnival and Royal and much prefer Royal. You can usually get some good discounts with Royal especially on the vacationstogo.com site. The food is very good and the crew to guest ratio was better for us with Royal - besides my dh rather Royal for their water filtering - he drinks tap and ice tea which he hated on Carnival. Have a good time whatever choice you make.
DH and I enjoy cruising on Princess. I enjoy the fact that there is a lot to do even if you do not want to sit by the pool all day. I have always enjoyed their food, also. They still have a traditional dining room (set dining times each night) as well as offering "anytime dining" where you decide when you want to eat in thier other dining rooms. DH and I are no longer into dressing up for formal nights (we used to love it, but with all the luggage restrictions now, its easier to not bring formal clothing for us) and Princesss does offer their buffet and a few other alternate restaurants where you can eat with just "smart casual" clothing. We enjoy visiting the casino even if it is just to walk around during the evenings to see what people are winning. They also offer various tours at each port (for a fee) just like other cruiselines do. Frommers puts out a guide for cruiselines that is pretty good. Cruise Critic (www.cruisecritic.com) is a website dedicated to cruising. You can read reviews, look at pictures, etc. They also have a message board (it is sometimes not the friendliest of boards though it has gotten better ) where you can read about general cruise topics as well as cruiseline/ship specific areas.
