For those with DDP that stay longer then 10 days - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What do you do about making ADRs? Today was my 180 day, and I could make ADRs for my first 10 days, but couldn't make ADR for day 11? I did it on line, but because I couldn't get anything after 10 days I phoned too. I was told I'd have to wait for the 180 day of day 11 to make more ADRs.
That doesn't seem right, does it?

It is a bit of a pain. Fortunately, for our April trip, because we're moving around - we have five different stays in those 17 nights we didn't have to wait too long before the next booking period opened up.

Sorry, but that's how the 180+10 day thing works. You'll need to call back when you're 180 days out from your Day 11. (In fact, I'd just wait until I was 180-days out from my *last* ADR and call then.)
Thanks everyone for the clarification! It caught me by surprise I couldn't book all my ADRs. Guess because 10 days has been my longest stay, I haven't had this problem before! So, then on Sat. I should be able to book my last (sob) ADR at Kona. When I decided on doing a split stay, I snuck in an extra day
We just went through this, and there are a LOT of misinformed CMs about it...YOU CAN BOOK SOONER
You can book at the 180 day mark plus 10 days if you are staying on property. We just went through this, and finished up our ADRs yesterday....this is how it went.
We check in on Aug 19th, for 14 nights/15 days
our 180 day mark was this past sunday, feb 20th, I was able to book from the 19th, through the 29. I called back on the 21st, to book for the 30th (our 11th day), the 22nd to book for the 31st, and the 23rd to book for the 1st.
I was originally told by a CM that I couldn't book my 30-1st ADRs until the actual 180 day mark from those dates as they were outside the parameters of the 180+10, but after talking to a second CM on a different occasion they said the first CM was misinformed. I went ahead and did what the 2nd CM told me to do (as above) and had no trouble what so ever! Got all my Conf #'s with no issue!
Maybe the problem is that I'm doing a split stay? We leave our first resort on 8/27 & go to BC for reminder of stay. The system let us book till 8/30 on POR res, even though we leave POR on the 27th. I even phoned the day after our 180, but that CM couldn't seem to make an ADR either. System wasn't letting her She said maybe it's because we are checked out of POR, but still wanting to make ADR for 8/31? Dunno. So I'll try on line to see if I can yet, otherwise guess I'll have to wait for my BC 180 day, it's only another day or so.
Thanks. Are you doing a split stay, or staying at same resort?
I don't know for sure, but I'll bet the split stay is the culprit. We too were trying to book all our ressies for an 11 day stay, and even though the automated system says something like "resort guests can book reservations for their ENTIRE stay. . . " it just isn't true. They only let us book 10 days at that 180 day mark. Good luck and enjoy!
Location: Physically stuck in Michigan while my heart and soul reside in Disney.....

I did mine this same way before and it was fine. I agree with Momma Pirate.
I personally would not wait until I was 180 days out from the last day I wanted to make ADR's because during that period other travelers have come into their window of opportunity to make their 180 days ADR's and high ticket items like LeCellier, Chef Mickeys and Royal Table will book up.

The split stay might factor in then, hadn't thought of that! Oops! No, we are staying at the same resort the entire time. With a 1, 4, and 6 yr old it is just too hard for us to pick up and move! I like to get settled in for the long haul so to speak and not have to worry about it
I don't know for sure, but I'll bet the split stay is the culprit.
Yep... me too -- I think it's the split stay.
From what I remember hearing here, it's 180-days from the start of each separate reservation. Not 180-days from the first reservation...
Good luck, Sue. I hope it works out!

But you have two separate ressies, right? Even if you're staying in the same resort, the "split" messes things up. Ask for a supervisor -- maybe they can override something.

Yep, 2 seperate ressies so guess that's the problem I tired going on line a day ago, but won't let me book. Maybe I'll phone again tomorrow, and ask for a supervisor.
Thanks everyone for the help! Even if I have to wait for 180 for next res, It's only my last ADR at Kona, I think I'll be able to get it, just want an early 5pm because we have to go back to BC to pack, so sad
