As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We're at CSR now. I was afraid it might be a let down after our Sept stay at BLT, but it's not! I don't feel quite as claustrophobic. The front desk people were super nice. Did not have to change rooms with having 2 reservations. Love not sharing the bus. We were the only ones on the bus to MK. It was great!

It's one of my favorite resorts - we've stayed there a couple of times. There are multiple bus stops, so you need to make sure you're using the one closest to you.
That's another thing we were so bummed about... the marina and bike rental were closed - in August. What the heck? It's still summer!
I hear that! We are going there with some friends in September of Next year, and my MIL, FIL, SIL and her bf are going next week, so at least I'll hear a lot about it so we can change resorts if there are really bad reports...
Even in December it's warm enough to go out on the water so I would love to be able to take out a boat or other watercraft in mid September!

We loved it back in 2006! We loved everything about it! It was beautiful, the meals we ate at the Pepper Market were great! The one and only negative was the lady working at the pizza place. She was most unpleasant! But, that can happen anywhere since everyone has a bad day every now and then! The biggest plus, for us, was the customer service at check in. I had requested a certain area (and I know these are only requests and don't guarantee anything), but would have been happy anywhere but Ranchos (kinda neat area, just not my personal taste). I was told that a big convention had booked a few months back and had filled up the area I requested. Since I book a year in advance (and had put in my request then, plus reminders closer to arrival), I was VERY annoyed that a convenion could knock me into Ranchos! Anyway, I must have looked quite pitiful (bad flights, exhaustion, I almost cried! LOL!), b/c the guy searched and searched and found someone checking out that same day in a PREFERRED room! He got it for us with no upgrade charge! I nearly jumped the counter and hugged him! And the rest of our stay was awesome! We would DEFINITELY stay there again! It's definitely a step up as far as ammenities from the other mods. I've heard some folks having issues with the convention folks, but really, our experience was very positive with them! There were several who went out of their way to chat with my boys and even got them a little toy each from the shop! They were all very nice and respectful. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
I'm so glad to hear so many good things about CSR -- I just booked our Dec. 2011 trip at CSR, in part because of Buzz2001's recommendations.
His CSR website has so many beautiful photos...I think I figured a "convention hotel" with a southwestern theme must look something like a pyramid in the middle of a parking lot!!

Reason: * sigh * spelling. Again.
We stayed at CSR in December 2008, and loved everything about the resort. So much so, we are staying there again at the end of March. It is a peaceful place to come back to after the parks. I recommend it to anyone who asks...and some who don't! Buzz's page has great info, and was what made us choose CSR in 2008.
This my FAV resort. It is so pretty and relaxing and the beds are Queens instead of fulls, and the decor is wonderful, i mean you could have a vacation just staying at this resort and not visiting the parks (lol as if i would ever not visit the parks) but im sure you know what i mean.

I know this is an old question but I assume people are still reading to help them decide on CSR. I have to throw my opinion in the mix because I love CSR. We are staying there again on this upcoming trip. I like it best of the moderates (so far) because of some of the things others list as negatives. 1. It is a convention center - I found that this means that the buses are not at all crowded. 2. It is very large - I thought this made it much quieter. 3. The Pepper Market - I found it easier to get a variety of food & thought the quality was fine. But mostly I love it because it is soooo relaxing, which not all of Disney is, so I felt like we really got refreshed when we returned here in the evenings. I recommend it for adults travelling alone or with older children in particular, but I saw small children enjoying the pool/recreation area too. So there is one more opinion in the hopper!
Speaking of this resort, just checked w/ our travel agents for 2 weeks in July and Coronado Springs is booked for the 2 weeks we were looking at?? Even on disney's website??? Seriously? What is going on that I can't get into this resort those 2 weeks?
There is probably a big convention those weeks, I think when a company books one they hold big blocks of rooms for them then after a certain date they release any that weren't booked. At least that is how other convention centers do it.
We stayed at CSR recently and loved it. It feels more like a Deluxe than a Moderate. The rooms have just been refurbished, and are very nice. Loved the sliding doors. And the toiletries. And the robes. The queen beds are great and we loved the Pepper Market. The only downsize is it's a very large resort, so depending on where you're staying, it can be a hike to El Centro. We've been POFW-philes forever, but this is now our favorite Moderate
