YES!!! Things are starting to come together! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Went up to visit my parents and tried to discuss travel plans with my mom. She has this one word that she uses for everything and that is "WHATEVER". She drives me NUTS with this word! Anyway, I FINALLY got her opinion on what day to do Cirque du Soleil. (Not an easy task with a "WHATEVER" person )
So far, December 4th, 2003:
Via Spirit Airlines (haven't purchased tickets yet. Hoping for a sale)
Depart Atlantic City International around 7:00 AM
Arriving approx. 9:00 am at MCO.
Plan on using Tiffany Towncar for Round trip (MCO-ASM)
Arrive at All Star Music
Check in (more than likely will have to have luggage stored)
Head over to SOG to get Mom & Elizabeth's Park Tickets
Lunch (no idea where, maybe the ASM food court)
Hope to get into room for a little while.
Maybe around 4:00 pm or soon after head over to DTD to have a look around prior to the show.
5:30 Arrive at Cirque du Soleil for the 6pm show
So we now OFFICIALLY have one day (or should I say... day one) of our trip planned.
I tried to get her input on the resort AGAIN and kept getting her famous word "WHATEVER." After a long sales pitch & showning her photos of all resorts, mom finally said, I think Elizabeth would like the All Star Music. However, she did say the Wilderness Lodge looked quite inviting (yes, I did try for that resort first! (think the rooms available thru SoG reservations were already booked... no rooms at the inn ).
Mom did say there is one thing that she MUST DO and that is to ride the RnR... Elizabeth who loves roller coasters told her that she WILL be going on it! (Can't wait to see her on this and the ToT )
A lot of the time, my husband tends to be a "whatever" kind of guy, probably mostly because he is just so incredibly easy-going. I'm such an enthusiastic, jump in at the deep end kind of person that his "whatever" stuff drives me nuts. However, all that being said, he's starting to get into the excitement of planning our December Disney trip. At one point, he had told me that he didn't care which resort we stayed at - you know - the old "whatever" thing. So I had pretty much decided on Wilderness Lodge and then proceeded to deluge him with photos and info about WL and some of the other resorts as well. To make a long story short, just the other day I mentioned to DH that perhaps we should stay at the Contemporary for this holiday for the convenience of the monorail. He paused a few seconds, then pouted, "But I was really looking forward to staying at the Wilderness Lodge, with all their terrific Christmas decorations and everything." You could have knocked me over with a feather. My old "whatever" guy was finally all geared up about something regarding our trip. So hang in there with your "whatever" mom and just wait for the Disney magic to bedazzle her.
The best thing about dealing with Whatever people is that YOU get to make all the decisions, and they can't complain if they don't like it, because they told you they didn't care. That's what they mean when they say Whatever; it's short for "Whatever YOU decide will be fine with me."
I'm arriving on Dec 4 also, but at about 8pm.
BTW, I LOVE the food in the ASMu food court! I think it's some of the best counter-service food in all of WDW, and any time I stay there I eat in the food court at least once. Try the chicken quesadillas, they're excellent.
It sounds like you're getting started on that plan. Its never easy with a person who doesn't give their input into the planning. While the people I usually travel with are not like that, we all tend to be a "Whatever" person once in a while, even me.
Thanks everyone! Mom is a good travel companion (we use to take the kids camping all the time) & enjoys doing different things. Shhhhhhh.... at 2 wks shy of 72, she can work circles around most people I know, no matter what their age . Am wondering if all the years in the military (dad is retired AF) has turned her into this "WHATEVER" person. She keeps sayinng I'll do anything you want to do... ummmm wondering if she would like to go to Restaurant Marrakesh or Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining Room? Have never been to either of these
I have three things (outside of the normal daily park activities) that I want them both to do: 1. MVMCP, 2. CP, 3. Cirque du Soleil (which I have never seen) The rest of the trip will be adlib/play it by ear/go with the flow... etc
Thanks Will, chicken quesadillas will sound good in 114 days
It sounds like day 1 will be a BLAST! Will this be your 1st time of seeing Cirque? It is sooo good. I left in such awe of those amazing performers.
I will keep my fingers crossed for a good rate for you. We will be flying Spirit for the 1st time this October. We managed to get non-stop flights for $153 per person. (including all taxes, etc.) A great rate for this area, I must say!
Happy travels!
Michelle
Michelle, yes, this will be our first time ever seeing a Cirque show! I am very excited and so is mom The rate you got for your airline tickets is fantastic! I hope we can do just as well...
Hey Deb, I feel your pain. My DH is "Whatever" to everything!!! But once we get there he has a good time. Good luck planning your trip. I'll keep my eye out for any good rate for Spirit. We opted to take the Auto train this year, but we usually fly Spirit out of AC too!!
