As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). So I just booked the Pirates League for the MNSSHP on Sept 30th...I originally had it at 10:50am(had booked it quickly without any kids around and without a copy of all my ressies) and I had to call back and rebook for later they had a noon and 7:10pm appt
I took the 7:10pm and know I am wondering if it was a good idea...We have ressies that morning at TH and then we will spend a little time there before heading back to the resort to swim/nap/relax before the party.
So I have a few questions for anyone who has done it...
We have 2 Empress pkgs booked for my 7 & 5 yr olds
I am made tutus for them to wear(they'll have shorts/leggins underneath) along with a pirate princess shirt(which I am going to buy) to wear that night
How long does the whole process take(hopefully they will be on time)?
Will we have enough time to see and do things after our appt(parades/rides/characters/trick-or-treating)?
Should we skip the first parade and just watch the second and then maybe head out after parade and fireworks?
Should I make Trick-or-Treat bags or are the ones supplied nice?
Personally, I wouldn't do ta 7:10 p.m. appointment on a party night. I think it will eat up too much precious party time. We haven't done Pirates League before so I can't answer the rest of the questions.
When we did MVMCP a couple of years ago we id a 6:30-ish dinner reservation at LTT and I really regretted it -- the meal took longer than anticipated and by the time we got out to the party it was 8 p.m. and I felt like we were rushing the rest of the night to try to see everything we wanted to see. We ended up missing many things I'd wanted to do.
Personally, I wouldn't do ta 7:10 p.m. appointment on a party night. I think it will eat up too much precious party time.
That was my concern too but I don't want to do the 12:00 one cause we have breakfast at TH @8:15 and then we wouldn't be able to take a nap or relax before the party.
I will keep the 7:10 and hope for the best I guess.
Unless anyone has any suggestions...
The other option is maybe doing it the day before and then doing the same thing myself since I am a hairstylist/makeup artist just like they had it the day before...maybe I will do that instead...I'll make an appointment tonight for the day before and cancel the one the day of and then call everyday to see if something comes available for that day around 3-5pm cause I want to eat before the party at CS.

That may be an option. We did it just after it opened and it took about 45 minutes but that included pictures after. When we did it they gave us the lip gloss, nail polish and extra glitter sticky face things. You may need to bring blush and eye shadow as they don't provide that. They use a larger blush/eye shadow and just use a new brush for each "pirate".
Keep the 7:10pm appointment..and just keep calling back and hope for a earlier appointment..or, try your luck..keep your appointment and go earlier..you just might get in earlier..like 30 minutes are more earlier..my 12 yo did this last year and loved it..it took her about 45 minutes and this is when they did the picture and all, so it may take a little less since that isn't a part of the package any longer. I wouldn't totally write-off the whole thing yet..give it some time and see what comes up for you..Below are a few pictures of my daughter's experience and the final picture of her new do with her own costume..
