As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Now that we are (almost!!!) PIF, and 75% packed (got 52 days left, not that I'm counting!!), I've been thinking about making t-shirts for all of us (myself, DS11, DD9, and DS6). Unfortunately, I am not at all crafty! I do like the idea of matching, or at least color-coordinated, shirts, as I find it easier to spot a stray child, and also cuz it tends to look better in pictures. I can do a reasonable iron-on, but that's where the creativity stops. Please give me your best ideas, as well as (really specific !) how-to's!! Thanks, all!
I made matching T-shirts one year. I downloaded clip art of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, copied that onto transfer paper and used my word program for our last name and the year and copied that on T. paper, pieced it together on the shirts and ironed it on. They turned out great and were well worth the effort. Good Luck!
I saw a big family group on my last trip that had matching t-shirts that they had personalized, so it had the same graphic on the front (I believe it was a family reunion, it had a picture of Mickey and said something like "Jones Family Gathering") and then on the back everyone had either their name or their nickname. It looked like it was done with iron-on transfers. I thought it was a cute idea to make them so personal with each name on the back.
Search for the thread "cruise tshirts". (I know, you're not doing the cruise, but there is a LONG discussion - something like 800 posts - with lots of ideas, and someone (Shadowryter) who is nice enough to do designs for folks. She did 3 different designs for our cruise, and I just did the iron-on design for our shirts. I'm attaching a photo of us in our embarkation shirts here, and a picture of my daughter in her Pirate Night shirt.
Last year almost all of our shirts were the iron on variety. My only advice...if you want to WEAR the shirts after Disney splurge with the better transfers. If you want them just for the one wearing...go with the cheaper transfers.
There are several varieties and brands out there. You can get them at Joann's, Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Michaels. (all of these fall into the cheaper category) For the very best ones, I used some on line from Amy Mickey. (I do not have her website...but I'm sure if you search it should come up.) These are more expensive, but oh so worth it!
You can use any clipart and print to the paper and then iron on your shirt. There is a whole forum on Disboards full of designers that will make your designs for free.
This year I have decided to splurge and get an embroidery machine and am appliquéing all the shirts for the 7 of us...for 10 days...two shirts a day...Busy, Busy, Busy!
I'm not crafty either .I just got t shirts made on zazzle.com, it was really easy. I got everybodys name on their shirt and mickey on them. They let you pick the design on the type of shirt and stuff. They had lots of disney designs to choose from, and they have coupons out. I liked it.
I am going to try and tye dye some shirts with my son.
We did Mickey head tie-die at Hilton Head one year - they were pretty easy. I think there are direction on the disboards on how to do it. You drew the Mickey ears/head in pencil, then gathered each of the 3 circles with rubberbands, plus a bigger circle around the whole thing. We LOVE our Mickey tie-die shirts!
Great price and fast delivery. I usually order about 10 - 15 a month. Since I am in GA they usually arrive the next day. (one of their distribution points is in the Atlanta area...but they have bunches more!)
