As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Ok, so am I comprehending this right? There are several different dining options on the ships and you get assigned a different one each night? That sounds pretty cool. Are khaki's or capri's ok for dining? I read in another post that the dining dress isn't as dressy as other cruise lines. I don't have really any "dressy" clothes but I do have several nice khaki dockers, and some capri's. You don't think I will be frowned on do you? And DH likes dockers and golf shirts with no ties. I know it wouldn't fly for captains night but maybe for the others? Also, is stuff like ice cream included in the price of the cruise? On the last cruise we went on we had to pay extra at the ice cream bar shop. Also, 1 more thing (for this post at least), do they do the coke cards like on other ships? I don't drink so I couldn't make it with out my diet cokes!! Thanks for any up coming answers!!
There are 3 dining rooms on each ship. Yes, you rotate each night to a different dining room, but your wait staff stays with you, so they get to know your habits. Also, there are other places to eat, like a pizza place and burger place up on deck 9, or through room service. The soft serve ice cream up on the deck 9 is free, and there's a free soda bar on the same deck as well. No, they don't have a coke card, if you go into the clubs, etc, or order soda through room service, that'll cost you extra, but it's free with your meals (or at the above mentioned soda bar).
As for the dress code, about the only thing that isn't allowed is swim suits. You'll see everything from tuxedos to casual clothes. I've not been on a 7 night cruise, but on the 3/4 nighters even on formal night you saw quite a bit of variation. No one is going to turn you away because you're not dressed 'formal enough'.
I've only been on 2 cruises, and I don't think the captain or any of the crew eat with the passengers, but I could be wrong on that. There are chances to meet him, for example after one meal he had an autograph session (yes, people want him to sign autographs, just like the characters).
You are assigned a dining rotation. Like PLAAPLA for a 7 night cruise (P- Parrot Cay, L-Lumieres, and A-Animators Palate). It will be a variation of that. You're always at the same table number (like #52) in all 3 dining rooms. As for dress, most nights I'd just wear khaki capris and a nice shirt, DH would wear khakis and a polo shirt. We got more dressed up for semi-formal night and formal night. Ice cream is included (there's an ice cream bar on Deck 9 other side of the deck of the soda station). As for soda, you just refill at the soda station. They have cups there for you to use, as well as ice. There's no need for a card there...it's always free. Soda is also free in the dining rooms.
Cool, it sounds like food is a better deal with Disney!! For the character b-fast do you have an assigned time or can you just go anytime on any day? This all sounds soooo fun!!
You'll get tickets in your stateroom when you board for the character breakfast with the date and time for you to go. I forget the rules for that one (days at sea I think). The time depends on if you're first or second dining for dinner.
