As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

I'm not sure I understand the policy for how many pictures can be in each post.
The "picture posting" thread says 5 is the limit per post, but in some TRs I've read there are many many pictures. Most of these seem to be moderator's TRs, and I understand that they would have that privilege. But I'm not sure all of the ones I've seen with lots of pictures are moderators.
I'm not trying to be petty, I'm just curious.

I always thought that if you were uploading and attaching your photos that's where the 5 pic limit comes into play. I always thought that if you linked in pics from like photobucket and that they were managebale sized pics that you could put in a reasonable number. Though, I could be totally wrong.
I *think* once you have done atleast one full TR you can request allowance from the moderators to post more than five pictures in one post. Hope that helps...
I think this allowance request has to do with overall amount of pictures you can upload - increasing it from 5MB to 10MB

Hmm. This might be it. I've never used photobucket or anything like that. Just upload my pics one at a time.
I wrote my first TR back in 2004 and only included 5 pictures per post and then I never meet the overall limit. You can "upload" a maximum of 5 pictures to a post on these boards. If you're linking pictures from another site (Photobucket, Shutterfly, etc.) you can link as many as you want into a post. Or, if you want to upload to a different place on the boards (like the Driveway/Testing forum), you can upload in multiple posts there, and then copy the URLs and paste them all into one post here in this forum.

The Trip Report group has nothing to do with the number of pictures in a post. That remains at 5 pictures/images per post, for anyone regardless of their status (member/guide/administrator). All the Trip Report group does is increase the amount of memory on your account from 5 MB to 10 MB, for those who upload pictures a lot and would exceed the 5 MB limit. If you're linking from another site, you should never run into a MB issue as you're just providing a link here, your pictures are uploaded (hence their MBs) on another website.

I'm one of those TR writers that has more than 5 pics per post. I just copy them from Shutterfly or Walgreens and paste them where needed in the report - to avoid uploading them one by one and to not have the storage issue. I've never had a problem with it that way.

I'll have to experiment a bit with that sometime. I use Walmart to create photo albums for the purpose of purchasing photos, but I didn't realize I could also use that to cut and paste them into a report.
