Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Autograph Book

I'm thinking about making an autograph book for my son and his cousins for our trip to florida in March.

Does anyone have a list of characters for me to include?

Is there another thread dedicated to this?

Thanks for your !

I don't think there's any particular thread, just lots of little ones. Personally, I've just decorated the outside of my children's autograph books and just let the characters sign as we found them rather than having a specific page for each character. That way if we have 2 of Mickey (that mouse sure gets around ) then I don't have to create 2 "Mickey" pages. Plus I don't have to put in extra work for characters that we don't end up seeing for whatever reason. You can decorate the pages when you get home, or include the autographs in a larger layout.

I agree with Mary Ann.

I am not a fan of doing character specific pages in an autograph book because I fear we will not find all the characters for the pages I have done. Worse yet, for us at least, is spending a vacation hunting high and low for characters to autograph a specific page.

One of the first autograph books I did for DD, I used a 6 x 8 spiral bound book. I decorated the front and back covers and then put an X in light pencil on the left side pages (that I would use for a picture of DD with the character) and a small Mickey head in the upper right corner of the right hand pages, which was the page I wanted the character to autograph. When we got to the characters, I would tell them to sign on any page with a Mickey head on it.

It worked out great, as the furry characters were able to easily see the Mickey head and only Timon broke the rules and turned the book upside down to sign it. But, I realized that was because he was left handed. I never knew that about Timon.

This was also great for all the multiple pictures I got of DD with the same character. I had three pictures of her with Winnie the Pooh, and several with other characters. Since I didn't do a book with a spot for only one photo with the character, I was able to put all that were taken on the page next to the character's autograph.

Hope that helps.

I have a couple of sites that I use that have info on where to find characters that I will give links to. They may be a little out of date but they give a pretty good starting point.

Disney World Characters and Autographs
Disney World Character Greeting Guide
Walt Disney World - Disney World Vacation Information Guide - INTERCOT - Walt Disney World Inside & Out - Info Central

This fall I made autograph books for the first time. I made characters using the cricut. I started with characters that we would see at character meals, then I used autograph books from previous trips to see which characters we had seen on those trips.

Good luck! The characters really got a kick out of seeing pages that were created specifically for them. Donald & Pluto both gave me a hug and several held up the autograph books in the pictures to show their special pages.

omg i so have to agree with you on this, esp. because last year i put a lot of hard work and printed out tonsssssssssss char. specific index cards, glued them in sprial note books for each kid (3 kids at the time) and while we waited on line to get autographs i had to flip through the books to find the right page for each char. it was sooooooo time consuming....
as much as i love the way a personilzed autograph book looks, i would rather just put one together when we come home, along with pictures that we took with each char.

What if you design half pages on card stock, get autographs from the characters you run across, and put them into a book after the trip?

I do. But, please keep in mind that I did this four years ago and if I were to do it now, it would look much different. It is pretty lame. Also, I made the mistake of using Modge Podge, and while many have great luck with that stuff, I WILL NEVER USE IT AGAIN! When I did this book, I was drawn to all the vintage Mickey stuff that was on the market.

The cover

and a few pages

Love Pluto's autograph!

We share the same last name with the Incredibles, so they are favorites of ours.

The left handed Timon's upsidedown signature. I think this is my favorite page.

Nala, I love your autograph book, it's beautiful!!

KMC, as others have said, making character specific pages to be signed can be time consuming and frustrating if you don't find all the characters. I would recommend just buying multi-colored cardstock for the characters to sign, and then when you get home you can either slip these in next to pictures or decorate the cardstock for each signature to continue the magic.

But, if you want to do some character specific pages I would recommend doing them for the following:
Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Chip & Dale <--most likely to find them all in all the parks pretty easily
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine, Ariel, Tiana <-- If you plan on doing any princess meals or seeing them in MK or Epcot
Tinkerbell <-- As far as I know she is the only fairy who is consistently in the M&G area, the others change frequently.
Beyond that, if you know you are going to specific character meals (Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Lilo & Stitch) and should see specific characters then I would make those cards. Otherwise, I would just have blank cardstock for anyone else you run across to sign.
