As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Day 7: Epcot, Afternoon with Chris, More Spaceship Earth please!
Day 7
Time for Epcot day! We arrived at the park bright and early and herded in with all the other early risers.
We made a beeline for the Land Pavilion to ride Soarin’ and/or get fastpasses. We got both and did a rider switch too because of the baby. It was Jager’s first time to ride it and he loved “flying!” We wanted to ride Living with the Land but it was closed then too. That ride closes too much! It is one of my favorite attractions—it makes me hungry. J
We toured Future World by visiting shops, a few attractions and my first trip to Club Cool! I love that place! Christina and I tried all the sodas, but my favorite was the Watermelon one from China. Jager loved getting to drink soda without having to beg for it. It was a great, cool break during a hot day.
We kind of split up into groups (like my husband running off to ride Mission Space and Test Track) and then the Character spot with Jager. One of many many many photos.Also, Jager's shirt reads, "42 Wallaby Way, Sydney" just in case he got lost.
Around 11ish we all started to get hungry so we made our way in the heat to the World Showcase. We decided to try a bunch of counter service offerings and share our way through the WS. First we got fish and chips at Yorkshire and the fries were so good! I had a fries thing on this trip, I guess. We all nibbled on those until we got to France where decided to return for Grand Marnier Slushes after we ate properly. My mom and I had sample plates at Tangierine Café in Morroco. Christina got a buger and fries in America and Jason ran back to the UK for more fish and chips. Jager had chicken nuggets from America, but my daughter ate my Middle Eastern fare and thoroughly enjoyed her first experience with Hummus.
I'm not a bad mother! She just like the feeling of cool tile on her face!

After lunch, we got those slushes and let me just say, drinking in the hot hot sun of mid-day is not advisable for a lightweight. My mom was convinced she was “feeling a bit funny.” We all downed a bunch of water and did a few more Future World attractions. Around that time, MJ fell asleep and Jager was acting hot and tired. My mom basically jumped at the chance to return to the cabin with them! J It was over 90 that day, I can’t blame her. I think Jason much have gone back too, because pretty soon it was just me and Chris! This ended up being a GREAT idea! We did so much and at our much faster pace too.
We rode Test Track, went back to Club Cool, shopped for retro Epcot shirts, and toured future world from Mexico to France! In all my trips, I’d never really visited China or Norway! So we spent tons of time in China, watching the movie and spending forever in the shop trying on silly outfits—basically the kind of stuff you can only do with your bestie! We got schoolbread at Kringla and it was sooooooooooo good! Thanks for the tip on that one my Passporter buddies! I kept trying to find a way to get another one before we left. Also, all the food at Kringla looked amazing and the covered patio is a great spot to chill out for a bit. We had fun making fun of the statue… some Olympic runner or something—either way, it was fun.
We shopped for Christmas ornaments and beer steins in Germany and ended that country with a shared pretzel… also my first pretzel. We smelled perfume and watched the mime performer in Italy and shopped forever in Japan. It was around Japan, that we started to try to get everyone to return because they were being very slow and in danger of losing our respective dinner ADRs. This is my one complaint I have about traveling my with my parents (and this is no secret, so Mom, you can’t be offended. –they are always late! With their fourteen cups of tea and forgotten hankies and medication reminders, they are consistently 20 minutes late for everything! Love you guys! So, in short, they were late for our afternoon plan at Epcot which was basically just going to the Seas with Nemo, so we missed that entirely!!!!
They got there just few minutes late for their ADRs. When they arrived both kids were fast asleep in the stroller!! Best.Stroller.Ever.
MJ woke up when she went to Tokyo Dining with her Papa and Gigi for another birthday celebration and had a blast!
No babies in the baskets! 'Tis cute though.
Jager, however, slept straight through our dinner at Tutto Italia! After dinner we split up to see our own stuff. Naturally, we had to take Jager to do Spaceship Earth before it closed and I rode with MJ! She loved the star room! She kept saying “Ooooo!” like she does when you have on sparkly jewelry. LOL! After that, Dad and son decided to stay for a bit while Auntie, MJ and I went home to tend to that rash again. At the bus stop, we met another family who's little girl had the same rash! They said it was a heat rash, so I felt a bit better about it. I used to get them too, so at least I knew what to do.
Oh well, it’s not a Disney trip until somebody throws up, has a meltdown or develops an irritating rash! J

Great day! My dd used to get heat rash on the back of her neck when it was really hot outside & she was spending a good deal of time in the stroller. My best guess is little ones end up with the backs of their necks flat (or close to it) to the seat & get a rash from heat/ sweat/ contact with the stroller seat. We used to put a paper towel wet with tap water (not cold) around the back of her neck when it was that hot. Seemed to keep her less overheated and didn't see any heat rash either.

Hmmmm. Sound like a good idea. Eventually, that's what I tried to do, but she already had the rash by then. She WAS lying flat in that stroller a lot--she slept in it at least once a day! I'll try your tip when we go in May. Hopefully, we can avoid that this time... you travel and you learn.
