As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Mickey Comes to Boston
Thanks, Joe
I can't wait to get my pictures developed from this trip! After everyone parted at Faneuil Hall, the boys and I went into Quincy Market to get some food. I got a chocolate chip cannoli (Wow! Way too rich and sweet for me!) and a caramel cappuccino, Jalen got a HUGE M&M cookie and a water and Kylor pigged out on a chocolate dipped waffle cone with sprinkles and mint ice cream with a DIET Pepsi. LOL. Then we sat on the steps and watched the Gillette Venus pink trailer.
We walked back to the hotel and the boys swam for about an hour. By then we were all exhausted so we just got pizza from room service and watched some t.v. before crashing.
I am so happy we got to experience Boston. If not for Nancy setting up this Passporter meet, we probably wouldn't have gotten to Boston and missed out on what a great city it is! It's definitely on our do-over list now! Thanks for sharing your city with us And, Nancy, thanks for the run-down on the trolley narrations. I definitely missed the Hooker reference. I was so busy trying to take it all in and trying to keep the boys relatively quiet at the same time, I missed a lot of it!

Re: Mickey Comes to Boston
I thought of you all on Saturday. Had we been home this weekend, I could have easily taken the train in to meet you. But, we were in NH with our family. Actually, Marie, I was in Whitefield on Saturday for a little while, then visited my family in Littleton. Funny, huh? Having grown up in the area, I haven't done many of the tour things and this would have been a great opportunity. I guess I'll have to chaperone a class trip. LOL. Glad you all enjoyed the meet so much. Brian had a wonderful idea to give those meals to the homeless. Passporters are great people!

Re: Mickey Comes to Boston
Thanks Nancy for the end of the report! I'm trying to figure out what number three was and the only thing I can think of is 'Pick some place that doesn't require a deposit!'.
Now when Brian and I left the rest of the group, we headed into the North End to partake in some more food! We walked around for awhile taking in the Fisherman’s Feast of the Madonna Del Soccorso di Sciacca (try saying that three times fast!). A few of the streets were shut off with vendors of merchandise and food as well as some things for kids to do. We walked around checking out many of the restaurant menus. We finally decided on D'Amores which turned out to be a great choice. It was a very small place (as most places are in the North End) with very good food. After eating we walked back down to the waterfront and walked to South Station to pick up the T (subway) back to our car. The North End has festivals all summer and we are hoping to go back in for another. Here is a great site I found about Boston's North End

I am so jealous - I'd love to meet so many Passporters and it sounds like you guys had a great time. Somehow I don't think I'd get such a good turnout if I organised a meet over here.

Re: Mickey Comes to Boston
Hi! I got back from the beach today!!! I stepped out of the restaurant to find you all, as someone had said you were right outside on some bench, & we were no longer than maybe 5 to 7 minutes tops behind you all, & I LOST EVERYONE!!! I felt so bad I really didn't get to talk to everyone much at all, & I had no idea about what was going on inside the restaurant... ( telling you all you had to leave, mostly due to where I was sitting).
BUT for the short while I was with you all it was fun... I'm sorry we were so late, but I had such a hard time packing the car by myself & the kids were just not cooperating in the am. I wish I could have gone on to the rest of the adventures that day, but I had to find my rental down the Cape before it got dark out, as I hadn't been down there in a few years. But I am realizing that I am getting stronger & better at this single mom stuff, and found my way just fine with my trusty Cape Cod map in hand.
Your comment of how I arrived with my "sweet " children cracked me up... ( my 10 y.o. & 7 y.o. immediately started fighting as soon as we found the Passporter group, much to my embarrassment.... needless to say, I can't wait when they start school next Wednesday!!!) But at least my toddler didn't pull a major hissy.
I think I couldn't find everyone right after the lunch due to the events going on outside the restaurant...did you know it was a Radio Disney concert ??? We missed the music, but managed to get some of the give aways before they all left. And the funny part was I ran into a friend of mine from high school right after I saw all of you. She was eating lunch with her family in one of those outside restaurants.
Well, count me in for the next one, depending on what is going on that day.. I want to be there for the whole thing so I can chat with everyone.
And the sad part is I never got to take any of my own pictures!!! Oh well.
The Cape was awesome... still stressful at times with the three kids, but when we were on the beach they seemed to get along great & I got to chill out a little.
Talk to you all soon.... it was great to meet you all!

Re: Mickey Comes to Boston
Sorry we didn't spend more time with you. We were outside for a bit, one of us ( can't remember who) did check inside and didn't see you there anymore, so we moved on. Must have missed you somehow, maybe you were on the way out? Hopefully you will get to the next one and we can spend a longer time together. We did see Radio Disney, didn't know about the musical concert though. We did see people lined up for autographs, of who we did not know. What kind of givaways were they passing out? we didn't see those mmm, we missed a lot there lol. Glad you had a great time at the beach, your kids were so cute.
