As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi! We are going down to WDW the end of the month. We have 4 boys and my husband and I LOVE rides. So.....already knowing about the "switching off", we still wonder what rides can an infant handle. In NO WAY do I want to put him at any risk...he is 7 month old. I just want to double check with you moms and dads. I obviously know some rides we cannot take him on like the more "thrill type" rides. Here are some I wonder about (I have never been to WDW myself):
Pir. of Carribbean at MK
Peter Pan's Flight at MK
Buzz's Space Ranger Spin at MK
Spaceship Earth at epcot
Journey into Imagination w/Figment at Epcot
Studios Backlot tour at HS
Kil. Safaris at AK
I'll note that as far as noises, he is used to a movie theatre and that loudness doesn't bother him.........but disney shows and rides may be louder. Anything louder than a movie theatre and I might not want to take him.
THANK Y'all!

Peter Pan's Flight and Spaceship Earth are slow-moving and not overly loud, so those should be fine.
Pirates of the Carribbean does have a slight drop, but if you hold onto him you should be fine.
Buzz's Space Ranger Spin has the ability to spin pretty quickly, but that's largely controlled by the riders. The more relevant issue is that you might not be able to shoot at the targets and hold onto the baby at the same time.
Journey into Imagination is slow moving. It does have a section in the dark with loud noises, but that's brief.
The Studios Backlot tour is probably fine, but I haven't been on it in several years so I'm not sure.
The Kilimanjaro Safaris are a bit bumpy, and they have a warning against pregnant women and those with back problems riding. That's the only one on your list that I'd really have reservations about.
I took DD when she was 7 months, and while I can't speak to all of these, I can speak to most...
Pir. of Carribbean at MK - We had no problem, just remember the drop and hold a little tighter.
Peter Pan's Flight at MK - We had no problem.
Buzz's Space Ranger Spin at MK - I can't see it being dangerous at all to your child... but you may have trouble shooting and holding at the same time... may want to either switch off on this or just sit and not shoot
Spaceship Earth at epcot - No problem, it was actually a perfect ride for her.
Journey into Imagination w/Figment at Epcot - No problem. She didn't bat an eye. Just be aware of the noise and the blast of air. A CM can tell you specifically where those are...
Studios Backlot tour at HS - Haven't been on in years but I don't recall anything that would be a problem. Definitely ask a CM if no one here gives a definitive answer for you.
Kil. Safaris at AK - It's bumpy, as I recall. But I can't see a problem with it besides that... I haven't been on that in years so I really can't get more specific...
Thank you all for helping! I am so much more excited about going. I think I will honestly have to report that Disney is even MORE "family friendly" than I thought! Maybe this can encourage folks to not be afraid to go with babies. I'll report back the beginning of February.

I, too, think that Kilimanjaro Safari might be a little too bumpy for an infant - even though it's just a very short part near the end. I didn't ride it when I was pregnant and would not take the baby on it last month. You will probably get varying opinions on that, but I prefer not to take any chances!
Everything else you mentioned should be fine. I think you'll be surprised at how much you CAN do with the baby, as opposed to CAN'T.
We took our DD when she was 12 months - I was concerned about the same thing!
Didn't have any problems with Pirates of Carribbean, Peter Pan's Flight as long as she was between my DH and I.
On the Buzz ride she and I rode alone and I had to be careful spinning the car (it jerked her real bad the first time I made it spin)
Studios Backlot tour at HS - she sat between us or even during the ride on our laps - no problem
Kil. Safaris at AK - it's very bumpy but she was (again) between us and to me was secured - she kinda liked bumpy up and down!!
I have to say that we LOVE the Toy Story Mania Ride at DHS - but it jerks too! She was 2 last year when we went and kept sliding and jerky during the ride.
DS was months on our first trip with him. I can't comment on all of the rides but I can tell you that we didn't have any problems on certain rides.
Pir. of Carribbean at MK: Just held on a little tighter on the drop, not a biggie.
Peter Pan's Flight at MK: Not a problem at all, although I did make sure dh had the diaper bag so all I had to worry about getting onto the ride car was me and ds since it's one of those people movers (do they still call them that?).
Buzz's Space Ranger Spin at MK: I think dh took dd on this one and ds and I skipped it, but it gave me a chance to feed him while they were on the ride.
Spaceship Earth at epcot: Not a problem, he actually took a quick nap on this ride. Again, it's a people mover getting on/off so gave dh the diaper bag again.
Journey into Imagination w/Figment at Epcot: We didn't do this one, really not sure why though.
Studios Backlot tour at HS: Another one that we didn't do, but it's not a ride that we usually do. We actually haven't ridden it since dd was an only child.
Kil. Safaris at AK: We did do this ride. Dh took control of the diaper bag and I latched onto ds with a mother's grip. We did ok on this ride, but, we have ridden it many, many times and kind of knew when the bumps and what not were going to come. We really made it non negotiable for him to be able to move around at all, I had a death grip on him. We didn't use a sling or baby carrier however, if you have one and your ds will use it I would maybe put him into that so you know that you have a really, really good grip on him.

My reasons for breathing!!! MGM Studios October 2007
We took DD when she was 11 months old and she went on everything that did not have a height requirement. She did great on all of them, even the Haunted Mansion. We held her in our laps when we could just to make her feel safer.

We brought DS to WDW at 8 months and 15 months. On BOTH trips he went on everything you mentioned and more without an issue. Like DoraDoug said everything w/o a height restriction! I feel Disney is very sensitive to safety but if you are uncomfortable when you get there and actually see the ride just skip it. Have a great time
I was wondering the same thing as were taking our will be 18 month old. I want her to have just as much fun as her older sibblings but wasn't sure what she could go on with us.
Our DS was 8 months on his first trip. We took him on everything that didn't have a height requirement. He loved it all. We didn't ride the safari that year at all for some reason, but everything else was fine.

We did DLR (think MK) when DD was 10 months old and took her on everything without a height restriction and she did great. I don't think you'll have any problems at MK, just hang on during the drop in PotC & Buzz (make sure whoever you're riding with doesn't spin too much) and you should be fine.
Oh, and use the Baby Care Centers...they're the BEST! There are changing tables in ALL of the restrooms, but I would go out of my way to head back to the Baby Care Center if possible; and that was for numerous trips to DLR while DD was still in diapers, not just the one at 10 months.
