As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Wisc. Dells Summer Trip Help
Just made our ressies for the Wilderness Resort for June last week. I'd agree with an earlier post-the Polynesian isn't very impressive. Our family likes the Great Wolf, Kalahari(just peaked in ourselves but know a lot of people who love it)and the Wilderness!
Have fun!

Re: Wisc. Dells Summer Trip Help
We've been to the Wilderness many times and loved it. They opened up a great indoor dry playground last year. It has lots of tunnels, slides, etc. Like an amazingly cool playland. It also has all these foam balls that you can put in canons and shoot or fill a big tub of them until they explode. My kids had a blast there. Just remember that you must wear socks. We didn't even pack socks for the short trip to the Dells since it was summer, so we had to buy socks from the sock machine, they really have one.
We've done the Big Chief pass and it's a blast. We also enjoyed the Ducks ride. We went to the Tommy Bartlett show one night and my daughters really loved it. If you eat dinner at the right time at the Ravina restaurant you can see the water portion of the show from their deck.
I think four or five days is too long. Three nights tops for us. The Wilderness has a nice golf course my dh enjoyed. They also have a smaller par 3 course that the kids might enjoy. There's also horseback riding just down the block.
We ate at Paul Bunyan's last year and I hated it so much. My whole family hated it. They served nasty beef ribs and fried chicken on big platters. The food was awful. I'm not sure why everyone goes there. We did because ds loves ribs, and even he was disgusted by the food.
We've stayed at the villas at Wilderness several times and they are nice because they have two bedrooms and a kitchen. Plus they are removed from the craziness of the hotel. If you stay in the hotel, ask for a room in the building between the two indoor parks. They are the most conveniently located.

Re: Wisc. Dells Summer Trip Help
Last fall we stayed at Kalahari. It was beautiful! They had activities for the kids.(cookie decorating, etc) We also loved the waterpark...they have a great raft ride in there. Even though people can go to the waterpark even if they are not staying there, we didn't find it a problem. It wasn't overcrowded and they were expanding it last December too.
I have also stayed at the Polynesian and Treasure Island. I liked Treasure Island better than Poly... I wasn't that impressed with it.
While you are there..go on the Ducks! I'm a sucker for the Ducks. We go once a year...and never miss the ducks!
Noah's Ark is the best!
Big Chief's is fun. It also has kiddie rides in case you have little one's with you.
We always eat at Paul Bunyon's for Breakfast. It's a tradition! And yummy sugar donuts!
Along time ago we went to an Indian show that was excellent...i don't know if they still offer this.
Order their vacation magazine and it will give you lots more ideas....and have a great time!

Re: Wisc. Dells Summer Trip Help
Oh you all are soooo great! You've given me so many super ideas, I'm getting excited!
So here's some more questions...
Cameron's Mom: when in June are you booked for? We'll be there 15-18, but I haven't booked a room yet (actually we're getting 2 nites free with a time share visit-so not sure where we'll be then & then I'm going to book 2 nites either at Wilderness, Kalahari or if Steph keeps working on me The Great Wolf!
Rhonda, let me know how you like it after your March visit...thanks!
mommycom, do you know which horseback stable that is down the block from Wilderness? There's four in town & I'm trying to decide which is best. Also, is the Tommy Bartlett just skiing? We have National Ski Camps in a neighboring town we see each summer so trying to decide if this would be a lot of the same.
Michele, thanks for your input & that'd be great to hear on golf for my dh.
Steph, thanks for all your info. & I'll keep Great Wolf in mind...I love the feel of it I just want to make sure it has enough of a waterpark for the kids...how's the outdoor one? They're a little too old for the Kiddie play areas (11 & 9), but don't like the extreme or dark ones either...they love any raft or tube rides, wave pools & lazy rivers. So I'm just trying to find the best option.
Things we want to do for sure:
Noah's Ark (are any other waterparks worth it?)
Big Chief
Little Links (3 par @ Wilderness)
Mini golf (is Pirate's Cove the best?)
Horseback riding (which is stable is best?)
Boat tour - now do I do ducks or regular boat or both? Do you do upper or lower dells? Or are the jet boats better? And is wild thing, as someone mentioned, the best of those?
Things we're not sure about :
are they a waste or great??
Wonder Spot (someone liked it on here)
Deer Park
Circus World
Wax World
Lost Canyon
Ripley's
Tommy Bartlett Show
(wanted to do 50's show but it doesn't start yet)
Had comments on Paul Bunyan & Cheese Factory, any other eating reviews?
Thank you all!!!
Schellie

Re: Wisc. Dells Summer Trip Help
I just got my Wisconsin Dell travel book and price guide today. I am excited. If anyone wants something looked up, just ask. This book is the size of a small phone book.
Are the big waterparks - like Noah's Ark - too big for 11, 8 and 6 year olds? I think I would be worried about them all day? Any of the littler parks good?
Maggie
