"Roll Me Outta Here!" A Girls Only Trip on the DxDDP - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First stop, Splash Mountain! Christina was a wuss and wore her stinky poncho, Renee and I were fine and only got a bit wet. After our splashdown we headed back to BTMRR and rode it twice in a row, once in the front and once in the back. The back was much better. More funny BTMRR pics:
After BTMRR we did Haunted Mansion (because you have to!) and then found a spot in front of LTT for the Boo to You! Parade, which as always was excellent. As others have said, the Headless Horseman no longer gallops through at breakneck speed, he kind of canters along.
We must have had one of the last reservations at LTT because there was no one else in there. My only complaint was that the service was a little slow and it made us miss the beginning of Hallowishes. The beef was our favorite, the turkey our least fav as it was a little dry. I liked the green beans and the mac & cheese the best of the sides. The cobbler at the end was also good. This dinner is like a carb-a-holics dreams. Total cost: $147.
We did catch some of Hallowishes and then we went to watch the Villains Mix and Mingle show.
While C&R went in search of a restroom I got in line for Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters who were so hilarious that I didn’t even mind the long wait to get up to them for my picture. They definitely made me want to catch them at 1900 PF next time.
After my pictures we headed to Fantasyland to ride Peter Pans Flight and then we got our pic taken in front of Cinderella’s coach. At this point I knew I was cranky because the wait for this picture just really took all my Disney magic away because it literally look us almost 40 minutes to get to the front of the line. Not only was the photopass photog SLOOOW, but there was a large group (maybe 12 people) in the line who took about 20 different photos in different combinations. I was like, seriously, not your private photo shoot, please get some courtesy *sigh*. Picture finally taken we headed to guest relations to upgrade my PH to an AP and then back to Pop to finish packing and go to bed.
The weather today was sunny but cold.
The best thing today was BTMRR two times in a row!
The worst thing today was waiting forever to take our Cinderella coach picture.
The funniest thing today was Lady Tramaine and her daughters.
Today we tried Expedition Everest and the result was that we had a lot of fun.
The most magical moment today was seeing all the animals at AK.
Glad feeling sick was short lived....
Sounds like a great day at AK! FOTLK is my fave live show also! That yak and yetti looks Soooooo good right now!
I need to go back and see what dates you were there. This is the first TR I've seen mention of cold weather, everyone else has been melting in the heat! Our trip is soon, so hopefully it's finally cooling down......
An early 6am wake up call to get ready and get our luggage to the drop off point. My bag was just under the line at 49.6 pounds. I was totally sweating being over the weight limit because I had ZERO room in my carryon to move stuff around. We grabbed breakfast (using our remaining snack credits since our last 3 meal credits disappeared when I upgraded to my AP) at Everything Pop and then took the DME bus to the airport. The DME video made me cry and then I passed out for a solid 3 hours on the plane ride home, the perfect ending to a pretty perfect vacation.
For those interested, we got the QSDP for free and upgraded to the DxDDP at a cost of $40 a day. We spent about $1264 on meals, and paid $600 so our total savings was $664, or about $221 a person. Not a bad deal. That’s actually not including the snacks we bought because I didn’t write down how much we spent on those, so our savings were probably closer to about $250 with snacks and the mugs.
I was going to pre-buy the photopass cd but I am glad now that I didn’t because I only ordered about $100 in pictures and I was able to use the 40% off code from my party photopass card so I saved some money there. I am still waiting for those prints so, none of them are in here.
If I had some things to do over I wouldn’t have scheduled our breakfasts so early, I would have made our meals at like 9am, 2pm, and 8pm each day because I felt like we didn’t get to do a lot because we were always on our way to eat or eating. I would also maybe go with the Basic Plan instead of the Deluxe plan next time because it was A LOT of food. Though on the other hand on the really hot days we had it was nice to have somewhere air conditioned to go for a bit and just sit down and relax (and in my case rest my poor feet).
In the end Christina and Renee both said they had a wonderful time and bought me a Halloween pin to thank me for planning everything which again, almost made me cry. And I thanked them for letting me be a little bit crazy in my need for planning and for letting me share my favorite place with them. And now to start planning my April trip to Animal Kingdom Villas!
So, that's it!! A whirlwind trip to WDW with some of my best friends that involved good times and good food!

I was glad feeling sick only lasted a short time too...nothing worse than feeling pukey but not actually being able to and make yourself feel better. I really think looking back that it was the herky-jerky bus ride that did it.
We were there the 14-19th, and the weather cooled off (literally overnight) on Saturday the 17th. That morning was quite breezy and I needed the sweatshirt, but by afternoon is was more than comfortable in my shirts and t-shirt again. But Sunday I was glad to have jeans and my sweatshirt on during the day, even in AK which is the warmest of the parks.
I know a co-worker of mine was going this week and they were expecting beautiful weather, so I hope your is nice as well!
Great trip report and great pictures. The food looks so good! I love your bag too, which is probably a weird thing to notice, but I love cross-body bags like that for the parks and yours is really cute.

Thanks! It's actually from Target. I like cross-body bags for the parks too and it's a bit larger than I would normally carry but I needed something to fit my autograph book in.
