Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Summer basic package!

There is a new special that WDW Travel co is offering. I have gotten several e-mails regarding this and thought I should list the policies for booking this.

1. package code ZWUY does not include passes

2. This is not booked through CRO, so if AP rates or code rates come out, you have to cancel the one reservation system to book the other.

3. Deposit is 200.00 and balance is due 45 days ahead.

4. If you cancel less than 45 days ahead, you forfeit the following;
15-45 days-100.00
0-15 days-200.00
change fees 25.00 per change within 45 day period unless the change ends up being more expensive, ie, adding a day.

5. You can buy non refundable insurance at a rate of 33.95 per adult and if you cancel within 45 days, you will not forfeit the 100.00 or 200.00. If you get the insurance and cancel before the 45 day deadline you will lose the insurance premium you paid.

6. The latest you can book this package is 3/17/02

7. The special goes from 4/21-6/22/02.

The reward is very nice discounts anywhere from 25-40% off depending on resort. As an example POR is running 95.00 night plus tax, when the normal rate for that time [regular season] is 154.00 night. Special is a 38% discount.

I hope this helps in understanding.

Re: Summer basic package!

Yes, I just booked one for a family. They wanted 5 nights 6/5-6/10/02. normal rate for that time is 554.40, with the special the total is 422.70, so they are saving 131.70.[24% off]

I also just booked Wilderness Lodge in woodsview. The regular price for 7 nights 6/1-6/8/02 is 1895.88. With the special, there new total is 1123.03, they are saving 772.95[41% off, wow!]That is better than an AP rate, providing there was one.

Re: Summer basic package!

Minster, sooo happy for you. Isn't it wonderful when you can save money like that? Think of all the people out there that pay rack rate as they don't know about these specials. All the more to spend while you are there.

Re: Summer basic package!

Jean,

My Dm just booked rooms today at POR and we did not know about this fantastic deal. She is going to try to change them tomorrow. My question is that these rates cover half of our stay. Can we get the rooms for the special rate for part of our stay or does it have to cover the whole stay? Should our travel agent have known about this special?

Thanks,
SleepingB

Re: Summer basic package!

SleepingB: Regular travel agents seldom know about all the different specials that are out there and usually book a package as it is the easiest to book and they can get the maximum commission. That being said, there are travel agents that do keep up with the changes, [not just me!! LOL] If you are checking in before 6/22/02 then yes, you could get all the nights at the special rate.

Re: Summer basic package!

Jean,
Do you know what the likelihood of getting a good deal at the Poly or at the BW would be for 5/12-5/20?
I currently have ressies at WL for the same time frame, but these rates are about $10.00 cheaper per nite that what I was given. Just curious...
Thanks!

Re: Summer basic package!

Well assuming there is availability for your dates with the discount, yes it would be cheaper for you. The special is giving WL in a woodsview at 144.00 night plus tax. Normal rate for that room is 229.00 night plus tax[37% discount] You say that rate is 10.00 less per night than what you currently have which would mean you are paying 154.00 night?? You must have a AAA or Disney Club rate on a standard view room, if that is the case, the standard view room with special is around 130.00 night plus tax.

Re: Summer basic package!

Jean,
Just had to thank you again for this package. We rebooked today and saved a little over $600 on our six night stay. The code is definitely the key. Now were having fun thinking of ways we can spend the extra money at WDW!

Nothing I love more than saving alot of money! Your the greatest! Thanks!

Re: Summer basic package!

Jean --
I have the "CM Special," (not a real term, just what I have "dubbed it." )which means a discounted room due to my original ressies being switched from POFQ to WL -- their choice, not mine.
I have a standard room at WL -- at 8 nites, $1368. This would break out to $171.00 per night. (that includes tax) Based on what you said re: your clients' 7 nite stay at WL at $1123 -- would equal $161.00 per night.
Looks like I will call WDWTC to see what they can do for me...
Thanks for the info! You are the best, Jean.
